New Booking System

Although we have not used a Club site for 2 years, there is a no facilities site which may be well placed for our April tour, so decided to check it out to see if it offered good value now that prices are higher on many CLs.
Basically I just want to see if there are pitches available for our dates, and the price for 2 people, I do not want to make a booking at this stage.
As far as I can remember the price is the same (at the moment) whether you have a caravan, a MH or a campervan, and does not go on size. So I really do not want to have to enter my caravan size, the Club already has those details, or my car details as that is irrelevant, just to see a price.
I like the fact that the calendar shows the prices for different dates once you get that far, but needing to fill in all these details, when the club either already has them, or they make no difference, is tiresome.
Then if I want to look at a different site, I have to do it all over again.

The only details you need to fill in to see the price is number of adults / kids and pitch type. No need to select outfit or car until you decide to go forward and book.

Doesn’t look like the essential maintenance last night was focused on speeding things up. It still whirs away for ages when I press quick check out. The time taken is not particularly comforting when later on it is going to ask for credit card details.

Thanks Steve, I will need to try that out, it is not the impression one gets when filling things in! This is the first time I have looked at a particular site as we have pretty much gone over to CLs these days.
Everything seems to assume you actually want to make a booking.

You haven't heard about Microsoft then this morning?

well to be fair this site isn't down every night for maintenance but fair point.
I wonder though which affected more people? I mean really affected in business terms with no teams, no email?

I wonder if that's some friends of Mad Vlad?

I was thinking about Microsoft rather than CAMC. As has been observed, they don't require outside assistance in screwing things up.

I've just used the new system for the first time and my blood pressure must be through the roof! I don't intend to plough through 3000 previous comments but I wonder if anyone has mentioned the slow and archaic process of having to repeat details of numbers, outfit and towing vehicle every time I check site availability? Surely the technology's there to read those details straight off our profile and give the option to make changes rather than repeat the same stuff over and over again? Really poor system!

If you are signed in your vehicle details should appear when you check availability on a site. eg if I type in Hillhead and then click on the availability box I can then click on my vehicle details which have been saved and then select a pitch type. I don't bother with filling out the number in party etc until I see an available date and price etc.
If you don't sign in the system won't know who you are and you will have to repeat all the extra input.
The DOB bit is a sticking point for everyone, that is quite an issue and the club say they are re-considering this part of the booking process which can involve multiple repeat inputs.

My method. I log in. Input site name I am interested in, press search, press check availability, change number of adults to 2 and select pitch type. That ensures the prices I see are what I will pay. I then scroll through the calendar to when I am interested and if available and I am happy with the price select the dates. It’s only at that stage I go back and input my outfit, which is available from the drop down list as I am logged in. As you can now book specific pitch types, there is bound to be one more selection before you can check availability.
I don’t find it any more onerous than the old system. To be fair with that there were a number of times that posters complained about no availability because they didn’t scroll down and see all pitch types.4 -
Information. Reply from Head of IS, following a complaint by myself in respect of the DOB requirement on booking form, states that "It is our intent to remove this requirement as soon as is practical, and certainly by the end of March.
Don't hold your breath as "which year" not quoted.

It is rumoured that is an upgrade to be introduced in February/March so it might be part of that? I don't particularly object to giving my DOB but I can see that without it the system would be slight quicker and appease those that do object. Personally I think there are more important things to be sorted around the deposit system that we were not aware of when the system was introduced. What I have in mind is the extra charges around amending bookings and losing part of the deposit which was never mentioned when prior to the the system being introduced.

Any "event" on site means recording a paper trail. Just finished that (21.30) I'm not really interested now tbh Nellie, the stress levels don't tend to subside as quickly as I get older! I've only come back on the website to book a couple of sites, which as it goes I've done pretty easily on the trusty laptop.
