I love Dogs me...

I was out today when there was just enough light to see. Boy was it just glorious too, it was a scene from a movie it was heartwarming(but so cold externally). I’d seen Deer moving around closer to the Village due to the hoar frosts we’ve been getting-no doubt scavenging, it’s been -4c. When we got out of the meadow & into the fields proper it really did look like thick snow. It was easy to see the tracks of numerous creatures that had passed that way as they rubbed off the frost. I stayed away from the copses in the area due to the Deer I know lay up there. To spook them from their resting places of warmth was a disservice to their survival. I did see a small herd of 3 Doe’s & 2 of this years fawns watching me with concern beyond the copse. I knew there were Badgers out & about due to their digging spoil in a drainage ditch bank but no actual sightings. I wasn’t out for long due to the Dogs having growing snowballs on their paws, they did look hilarious lifting up their paws so high & trying to chew the snow off. As much as I love my Dogs I was not going to clear the frost balls in the frigid cold of dawn. When home I stood them in a few inches of tepid water to get the frost balls off. I made them happy by cranking up the wood burner prior to setting off, I even put their big beach towel on the rug. They flopped down & snored for a good hour. Stay warm & Enjoy your day.

A great post Rocky, thanks for sharing your morning dog walk and it’s always a bonus to hear about the varied wildlife that you are fortunate enough to have in your area.
PS. I now also have a multi-fuel stove fitted and it is very much appreciated by our Lurcher.

Wooho-Welcome Brother👍🏻👏🏻👏🏻. We happy band of Brothers😊. Nothing says contentment better than a Dog & a woodburner.

This was the scene in our house a few years ago, no chance of any human getting close to fire🤣 Lounge with a real flame gas fire. Now Choccy is on his own, he has a new rug in front of log burner every Christmas.❤️

Good to read another story of your morning dog walking exploits, Rocky. You paint a vivid image with your words - the descriptions of the frost and ice balls make me shiver🥶. Great sighting of the deer👍🏻.

It was windy out on the Holderness plain this morning for both Dog, Man & Birdlife. I watched 3 pigeons take off from the near copse only to be blown South at a swift rate of knots, comical but no harm was done to them-in fact I heard. . .’Wheeeeee’ although that could’ve been in my head🙂. No matter how many times I tread this path(& others) my Dogs act as if they have discovered virgin territory such is their joy. A covey of partrige(7) was put up by our approach, they flew not 10’ in front of us looking beautiful & sleek. It is a gift being able to enjoy the countryside we have as it offers an antidote to the 3rd year of upheaval in our lives. The tranquility gives the heart & mind food to calm. Add to that the fact nature is so beautiful all seasons it may not change our pains but helps to see a better future. I passed my fallen log as I no longer want to sit for a long while listening to Dogs snore on my knees-my time as a Dog bed are over. Enjoy your day & may it bring you peace.

Thanks for that joyful tale of dogs, wildlife, countryside and peace, Rocky. May the rest of your day be as good.

Thank you for another lovely little snap shot Rocky. I can’t get out that often with our pooch on his walks at the moment, but they have become more precious when I can. He’s thirteen now, but still loves a slow amble around, in and out of his chariot when he needs a rest. Like a pup when he meets other dogs though, daft old lad.😁

Another great post Rocky, always good to hear about your encounters with wildlife. Have a great rest of the day.👍

He’s part of you 2 TDA, your care gives him more time to enjoy his later years-good age too which is more proof of his care over the years. Long may his Ben-Hur phase continue👍🏻😊

You too Nevers-ever on👍🏻

It will be(nearly) winter tree work-I hope it never ends😊

Keep chipping away at it, Rocky. Trees, nature and dogs make your world go around. 🌳🐕

🤣 Yes, it’s known as the “Chariot of Fur”😁 He seems to be doing fine at the moment, stable and still full of fun. Old dog routines have kicked in a bit now, but he still loves it away in MH. Vets didn’t expect him to get much past 10 to be honest because of his joint issues, but he plods along, with the odd mad moment. Won’t swim any more now though, but that might be his eyes and a bit of uncertainty more than his joints. Still loves water though.

"Chariot of fur". Love it! 😂😂😂😂
The old boy is doing well, TDA. A credit to your care and his own happy attitude👍🏻😀

He has to be the most spoilt dog we have ever owned, courtesy of OH, who of course now spends all day with him. He bought him a bicycle wheel holder (the sort you carry spare bike wheels in) for his chariot, which folds up and wheels store for carrying in MH. He goes everywhere with OH, which has been a bit hard when OH has had to go into hospital. I resorted to doing videos for them both🤣

We tried Cassie in as 'chariot' as she aged and became unsteady on her feet, unfortunately she wouldn't take to it and it stressed her out. Now sadly she has no need of it, but we tried to get her out of the house as often as possible, even to lifting her into the car and just taking her to look out at familiar places.
Good to read your stories
