New Booking System

Somebody has just posted on Facebook that if you go to the menu on the main website, rather than the new booking system, it is now taking you back to the original CL search here Has that been the case since the new system was introduced or is it perhaps a glitch or even an admission that the new system is not working for CL's?

Yep, it’s gone back to the original search page for CLs👍 Only taken three months for HQ to sort out, common sense has prevailed thank goodness. Not sure if CLs are still showing on the map search, but frankly don’t care as we much prefer this original set up.

The only way I can get the original CL search pages is by clicking on your link, David. Is this device specific? I've tried to click on "Find a UK site", then under "Search and Book" on the next page I've clicked on "Book a CL", but I then get directed to the new booking system. When I click on "Find a UK site" then on the next screen click on "All UK sites" and then click on CLs, I also get directed to the new booking system. Every time I've tried it's taken me back there, yet when I click on your link, I DO get the original CL search system.
Reading the post above yours by Paul Mold it suggests you should get the original search by clicking on "Book a CL". That certainly doesn't work for me, so I'll save your post with the link and bookmark the page; it's the only way I can access the original CL search.
Edited to add I'm using a Samsung S6 Lite tablet on Android 12.

InaD, click on the ice cream logo at the top, scroll down to “Book a CL” and it should come up with the original search for a CL webpage. It does for me, on an IPad. Good luck👍

Ina it's the same if you look on Find a UK Campsite, top of page, click on the red search box.

You can also just scroll down from the 'green' booking form to the 'book a Certified Location' as shown in this screenshot

Thanks, tda, have just tried it on my Kindle, and I see that there are at present 2222 CLs listed, so still a few for my to visit!! 😁

I have flagged this up to Rowena in the hope we might get an update.

PS this is the answer to the review on Trustpilot where the Club say they have reverted to the original page. Just so you know I am not the David being replied to !

Hi David-Many thanks for the feedback. Just to let you know that we had a website release this morning to bring back the Certificated Location search and book page. You can access this via the following link and there have been some code changes to remove any references to the club site search: fal.cn/3uo4c
You can access this page from various places around the website, including the 'book a CL' link in the navigation and the homepage campaign block.
You can also view CLs and search by county and town through the following dedicated pages (you will need to be logged in to view contact details): fal.cn/3uo4e.
Have a lovely Christmas and thank you for taking the time to share your thoughts~Jamie"1 -
When I get the green booking form,it has the map at the side of it, and I don't get the options below it as in your screenshot. Seriously thinking it's this tablet, or me, or both! I'm not computer illiterate by any meaans, but this is really frustrating. Perhaps it's getting too late, tomorrow is another day

Looking at the example I posted yesterday, you have a much better chance of actually finding it on the ground using the reinstated old system. I wonder what their intentions are. It seems a ridiculous situation to run two systems. So is this just a stop gap until they sort the new one and make it more like the old one. Then of course they still have to sort providing direction information for the main sites, unless they are also going to maintain the old site pages. That does not even seem to be mentioned in the planned updates.

Agreed, maintaining two systems (software, hardware and the corresponding data) seems madness bearing in mind that one of the key reasons for moving forward was the technical 'unsustainability' of the old system.
couple that with having to keep updating the old system every time a CL closes or opens or changes other key data and the club is making work for itself.why not write one migration program to move all the missing old data into the new system and then carry out any maintenance there, all in one place?
A program like this must have been created to get to where we already are with CL data on the new system as part of the original migration. A quick tweak to add the missing bits and...

The "new booking experience". Well, it's certainly an experience!
I can't wait to get my new Sites Directory and Map. Hopefully they haven't screwed that up as well.

Try clearing your browser history, that might work? Other than that the link should take you to the old search site where there is a red box with CL SEARCH and touching that it links to the old county and town searches. They do look a bit similar to the new booking system layout but they're not.

On the home page scroll down till you see “Book a Certified Location” on the right hand side, this takes you to the old booking system for CLs. (On iPad)

with reference to members saying click on C.L. and it now takes to the old system, Yes it works.
So is the club admitting that they made a c*** up with the new system

Is there something wrong with how the maps are rendered on my Samsung S9 phone or does CAMC really think this view is acceptable? There's hardly any map visible!

We had some working site staff round for a fish and chip supper last week and amongst the many subjects we talked abou was of course this booking system
One thing that they were not really surprised about was when they had a member of EGH staff on site and when asked about booking in add visitors who were to stay with those already on site ,it was a question that "why would they have visitors?"was the answer as the system was not designed for that as with it being an overseas booking system it was not expected

I think this is one of the problems it's the same for me on my phone, it's much better on my laptop (chrome book.) I prefer list searches and then a link to a map. The map enthusiasts and the list enthusiasts are divided both by their preferences and by the screen set up on different devices. We've ended up with a muddled compromise.

InaD, DO NOT click on the Red search button, that’s where the problem is. That takes you to the new system. You need to click on the Book a CL picture link shown in the photo in an above post.
Avoid that Red Search button if you can👍
Click sequence is Logo very top left of page, scroll down to picture box on Right of page that says Book a Certificated Location.
This should bring up the old search method for CLs. You just use as usual from there. 🤞

Going back to the old system has made searching life easier for those of us who use a lot of CLs. It’s possibly the best thing that could have happened from the CL owners point of view as well.
As for the Club admitting that any aspect of the new booking system isn’t fit for purpose…..not a prayer.

I think Ina was looking on the main site, my link was to the separate CL site where there is also a red button. "SEARCH A CL"
