New Booking System

👍got it, thanks.
Agreed, simple once you've sussed the workaround but how long will the (old system) background data be available, I wonder?

If I look in on the C&CC booking system, whichever way I use it only C&CC sites or CS sites will appear on the searches. These can be linked to map searches too. The same on commercial site searches if I want carrots from Tesco I won't get carpets.
Basically an in house search list is always better.

Yes, looking at individual counties not using the site search facility has always worked, but when one is not familiar with the geography, a map showing them all, like you could get up on the old App, would be much better.
The map that comes up if you use the site search does not work easily on my machine, jumps around, freezes, very difficult to zoom in. I am using Safari.
I liked the old App as there were decent filters for facilities etc.

I found (on iPhone 8) that if I put in, for example. "Lancashire" as the location, then tapped "open Map" I could expand and zoom in and out to see the whole of the UK. And select, for instance, a CL that said "view" and clicked on it's image near the ***** rating, it then showed all the CL details. If I wanted to safe the view, I would screenshot it.
This is using the Website - not the App.

I must be using it wrongly because that's exactly what I get when I run searches on the new booking system. A list of CC sites CL's and Affiliated. I will concede perhaps limited to 20 depending on the size of the search area, less if a place over if county.
I do prefer the format of the C&CC version. However, I believe it took them ages to get it sorted as well.
The App on the other hand, isn't an App and should be withdrawn and reissued when they have something similar to the previous version, with offline functionality. Other wise they shouldn't bother and just go with the web site.

Except that you don’t get all the details. No prices. No directions. No map coordinates. Often no info about type of surface. All that used to be available but to acces now needs a work around I wouldn’t start looking to book without that info. I like to follow the directions on Google maps to see exact location, and the nature of approach roads.

Yes, I see that. But I was just showing that the user didn’t need to know what county was where, but you could zoom in and out of the map and scroll to see John o’Groats to Lands End and everywhere in between .
A bit of a Devil’s Advocate from someone who is not able to get away anywhere for some time.

The suggested clsites.co.uk is inadequate and not a replacement for the CAMC listing, if only that was readily viewable. The Lancashire and Cumbria mas show only only three sites each.
The CAMC website presentation of CLs is lacking in essential detail:
The position map shows no roads (beyond main roads) so it is impossible to determine the surroundings where the CL is situated. The big square with site name and photo effectively blocks out all attempts to locate the site accurately. What a pathetic turn-about from the previous Google map presentation, together with satellite view.
There are no indicative prices shown, even though this can be one of the criteria for selecting a site. A local site was £7 per night (no facilities beyond the basics), but it is now reported to be £15. You can't blame that on electricity prices!
Are site viewers aware that clicking the stars presents user comments? Where's the prompt to do so?
And have you discovered the POI filters? Tourist attraction , train station, or zoo. Who thinks up these things?
So many errors/omissions on this new CAMC website. NOT GOOD

It has been posted and spoken of before with reference to CL prices some could be two years or more out of date as it is up to the CL owner/operator to advise this club of any price increases as are any changes with ref to their CL
As for the operation of the latest booking system most complaints are quite justfied

Not really much use as in N Yorkshire it show a total of 15 CLs, nowhere near all the CL in that county!

This is fine, better than the other mentioned above, but still only list a small proportion of all the CL out there.

There’s an interesting review on TP at the moment. Someone moaning about not being able to book YRP, because of those who block book🤣
So much for the mighty deposit scheme……..

As someone who is interested in CLs, want to browse by map/area, click through to see detailed information about the site, check prices (which I know may be out of date but give a reasonable indication), and who has limited patience: I've come to the conclusion that this site is essentially unworkable for my purposes.
Massively disappointing.

Sorry you are still stuck, but advice, guidance and instructions how to get CL information has been posted many times.

Theres NOTHING, NOTHING about the new app that I find better than the flawed old app.
Searching for nearby CL's is nigh on impossible. Map is unusable.
I cannot find pricing.
I don't want to book ahead, I'm a motorhomer and we explore as we go so have no idea where we will be from one night to another.
Having retired from an IT career I cannot understand why an "upgrade" that was not fully tested and working could be launched at the members. If I had done this I would have rightly been sacked immediately as incompetent...
Very disappointed.
Perhaps someone might reach out the the IT folk at " Search for Sites" website for some advice on how to create a professional app.???

Please remind us or once again point us to where such guidance is... I cannot find it on the app.

Put your comments onto Trustpilot is my advice. It’s the only place the Club staff are responding in any depth.

I think Euro is talking about posts in this thread, Ket, which isn't a terribly helpful suggestion in view of there being 250 pages. Sorry, I can't help you but, no longer being a member, I'm not into searching for CLs. Good luck.

I don’t bother with the app, but if I want CL sites in Devon I use the spyglass icon on the website, and in the search box which appears I type “CL sites Devon” and go forward from there.

Easiest way to find CLs and bring up a number rather than just the one…
Go to Find a UK Campsite (above)
Click on CLs
Ignore red button scroll down until you come to countries, England, Wales, etc…
Click on a County
Click on a Town
Click on a CL
Longwinded, but it gets you the old web pages up with full details.

Hmm... I noticed that method brought up a slightly different format for the CL and the couple I tried included the site fee, which does not appear on the main app format.
Ideally I would like a filter to only show CL's charging less than £nn.nn. but the app looks miles away from that kind of refinement.
S for S shows most CL's anyway and is much better to use.
Sad that we are discussing work-arounds for a new app which should be excellent!

It’s never had that sort of filter Ket, given how prices change so quickly, and at different times of the year, not an easy do.
Do you use the CL Bookings website, run by some CL owners. That does give a map with price filters. Limited number of CLs on there at the moment, but it is growing.

Thanks...
I'm aware of it but have not really used it as we don't book ahead. I will take another look at it from a browsing point of view.

Heres an example of two differing pages, one with pricing, one without...
