New Booking System

Can people who want to complain about
Name changes
Cost of sites
Surveys
etc
please open different threads as this one is supposedly dedicated to the operation of the website.
As someone who has taken 2 weeks to get a ringtone from silent on my mobile I’m dreading my first attempt at a booking. It could be private sites next year.

But this thread is titled "New Booking System". You seem determined to drag it off track into name changes, names for MHs, dash for cash etc etc.
Why not concentrate on the difficulties of the booking system so the staff can easily see the pertinent points instead of finding themselves bogged down in irrelevancies.

I still think that the club is making an effort to improve things, and posts by Rowena show that comments are being read. I accept its not perfect, but trying to book a hotel in Brighton via Trivago last night was a nightmare too. Took me half an hour.
At the end of the day, this is just a booking system and we shouldn't allow it to dictate how we go about our hobby. The most important bit is the holiday, not the booking experience. There is still the handbook, google maps, google streetview and the telephone so I'm damned if I'll let it ruin my trip

Husky, it's very good to hear that you’re no longer having problems. It would be interesting to know whether you think you’ve got used to the system or if there are any particular aspects that have improved since you posted the following? Either way, it’s progress👍🏻👏🏻

So I tried the booking site again, I put in the area Dorset and it gave me the option of 3 sites
in Oxfordshire 1 in the South of France! , as well as the sites in Dorset.
Very poor, but I didn't expect any better from the Club, so I'm not disappointed3 -
But the SD is out of date before one receives it. The prices shown are seldom that which apply when enquires are made and over the two year period, as there is now no longer a mid term update supplement, there are many changes in the number of CLs, with new ones added and others disappeared, so not as up-to-date as the website.

And it doesn't mean you right either. Very many other are obviously finding that it is shambolic as far as they are concerned.

Well they have obviously listened and made some updates , and at this moment in time I don’t find it difficult to book a site . If it was difficult I would go elsewhere
it’s good to see that you keep a record of my posts , and if I ever need to recall one I will give you a shout !

PLease could you explain how I use the new booking engine to choose dates and seek availability at any site in England?
Was easy enough on the old version.

So nothing specific but you think they’re getting there. That’s terrific news even if others can’t agree with you yet.
Record of your posts? Ha, ha, don't kid yourself! I was reading earlier pages today to see what had changed and your prime example jumped off the page along with another early post of yours calling the system a dog's breakfast. I guess, as a Husky, you’d know all about that.🤣

"Get back what you pay in"
Well, it's comforting to know that a massive chunk of the increasingly expensive site fees we've all been paying these past few years hasn't been wasted on shareholders, but has instead been spaffed on this wonderful new booking system for our benefit...
£5 million-odd wasn't it?
Thanks CAMC 🙄

I suspect there will be many reasons, including the loss of the USP. However, as I mentioned earlier, some of it might be down to members with older devices. My OH wouldn’t be making many bookings on her 7 year old iPad mini, as the website runs so slowly. It’s clearly been designed for more up to date devices with larger useable RAM and faster processors.

Just because late availability does not work in the same way as it used to does not mean you cannot find anything anywhere. Of course the wider your date search the less likely you are to find availability e.g. a months window. The narrower you make this e.g. pitches for a weekend visit, the more likely the chance of finding pitches. If you are searching for something say a couple of hours from home (to quote an earlier post of yours) then you would hardly search the whole of the UK. I would at least expect you to put in England, Wales or Scotland UK or even a county . Any of those will bring up quite a large area which you can pan and zoom into to see the availability. Even if the area you quite fancy for your chosen dates shows full for the sites visible you can change the dates to see if anything comes up fo meet your date change.

On an iPad
click on “find a uk campsite “ ,top of page ,it then gives a option of book a site or find late availability, click on that scroll down and you get a list of sites that have late availability
if I can get my paws round ,then anyone can do it
really where’s the problem

Yes, despite that, people are struggling and your words were unwarranted. Remember, not everyone is lucky enough to be computer savvy and it's good to see the help on offer here.

It's not just effort, PD. It's also aptitude and, in the case of CAMC, there seems to be a need for up to date equipment.

If it wasn’t for the fact that so many Members, over a variety of report back methods, are finding the new bookings system and terms and conditions awkward, unintuitive, not user friendly, etc…… I would find the latter few pages of this thread amusing.
To have some some of the die hard, go elsewhere, CAMC aren’t that good, touring life is so much better with other providers extolling the virtues of all the changes is rather funny. A huge well done to HQ as well, former sceptics gathered happily into the fold, a dream result🤣🤣🤣 Carte blanche to roll out more of what the majority don’t want……

Can't agree altogether with that Steve.....I use an iMac 27" 5K top of the rage pro ( aside..probably last in the range as Apple have something else in mind) with virgin cable broadband....CT & web site is like watching paint dry....as for the app..you may be right, we don't find a problem with the app (apart from design)....me using an iPhone 12 and OH using an iPhone 13 so perhaps older mobile devices have a problem. For example...as you may know iOS 16 has just been released and will not update any iPhone less than series 8 making some apps not fully functional on those devices..and probably not at all as apps get updated to run on devices with faster processors...

Our of interest I started a late availability search, there's no general list to browse so I selected Abbey Wood. That bit was working. Then I pressed the back button and a list appeared of sites beginning with A including non uk sites, as per CLs the list sticks at 20 but I was surprised to see non uk sites on a uk search.
The new system is working on a very basic level but it's nowhere near being fully functional. There maybe user errors along the way but generally the system is at fault.
There's some use in this thread if people are really testing the system. If they feel it's good and working well I'm sure the club will be pleased.
