New Booking System

It just seems to me that there are a lot of keyboard warriors in this forum who revel in collectively throwing their toys out of the pram with 'I'm cancelling my membership and taking my money elsewhere' type of posts.I have to say that I see no evidence of this on the sites i've been on.
I accept that the introduction has been far from perfect, but the instruction videos, feedback links etc show that the Club does care about members opinions, and I think that we should all use the link to report our experiences. I have, because I think that the 21 day cancellation policy is unfair, and actualy encourages people who may have covid NOT to cancel.
Lets get rid of this negative attitude and try to do something positive to the benefit of all members. The grass is never greener on the other side of the fence, which TrustPilot reviews for C&CC prove

I just went straight in and did a booking with out watching any videos, and for me it was straight forward. But for me the Club is just a small part of all of the sites out there ,so if I don’t like what the club is doing I will go elsewhere, I don’t need to keep posting about .
I stand by my comments

Well, your perceived “keyboard warrior” grouping is significantly larger than my “rose tinted spectacle” count, but I don’t actually disagree that reporting faults isn’t helpful.
I do however remain sceptical of the decisions made, the reasons why, and highly disappointed in how things have been communicated and drip fed to the Membership. That’s my feedback, but I don’t think it will be of any concern to the Club. I am of course open to being re-enthused and otherwise convinced………

This may sound flippant, it isn't meant to be. I'm hoping JVB may have an answer as I believe this site is his "second home" . We are looking to book FM for next year . We prefer the east side to the west . Question , will the new booking shambles let us book a HS on either side as realistically they are two different sites ? . Think I already know the answer , but no harm in asking.😁.

On an iphone I don’t get a split screen. It’s all site info / availability, or all map. The map actually runs even faster than on my iPad as it has a better processor. Does an android phone split the screen, rather than as detailed above?

If you can wait until next week I will try and find out , we are stopping to meet up with others on our way to a private site in Norfolm i, suspect that booking a hardstand will be just that as in the past and will be which ever side has availability East side has 20? but seems more spacious

Yes, I think our most expensive site was £27, a fully serviced pitch on a small commercial site near York. Balanced however with much less expensive CLs. And much less expensive than CAMC Beechwood Grange!
We had booked Banchory Silverbank for late March, with mid week discount, but had to cancel that as DD and family asked if they could use the van for the first week of the Easter school holidays, so after that we used Greenpark instead. Less expensive and serviced pitches. Nice toilets and showers too.
Unfortunately, since 2018, having volunteered for grandparent duties, we are now restricted on when we can go away. Late April till mid June is now out, as is mid August till late September. And also mid October through to late March, though we have not often gone away at that time anyway.
So we are mainly left with school holiday periods, SIL is a teacher, and times when we can swap with the other grandparents, and CAMC are not known for low prices any time there is a sniff of a school holiday!
We have in the past used several non facility sites such as Cadeside, Englethwaite and High Onn, which are less expensive, but these days we find we use quite a few CCC sites as we get the age discount, and their peak periods, especially in Scotland, are shorter.
We also use a lot of CLs, plus a few commercials.
These days the joints are getting pretty creaky, I have arthritis setting in in my hips and my hand joints, so we are splashing out (moderately) on serviced pitches where affordable, and we do prefer a hardstanding most of the time, so this has pushed up our average spend.
Fewer nights away each year mean we can spend a little more per night on pitch fees, but I do think our days of using Club sites are now over.

Just FM next year cc to meet friends unless we use ccc site at St Neots,as those without ccsite passes are going to join ccc
We normally would have at least one tour booked by now,on mostly this clubs sites but ,seriously having a rethink, but must have full disable facilties on sites. with the user friendly previous system it was easy
And with our ages we are reticent as we may lose quite large amounts of money

Is Clumber Park too far for you JV? New upgraded facilities are best we have ever seen on a Club Site, and compared with some Sites, the price is mid range. Nice midweek, busy at weekends.

so I understand we have stayed sevaral times in the past we have friends about 10 miles away, ,Sutton on sea and Cayton village are good,we have friends within easy striking distance of them also, but we shall see if we can book sites at very short notice so as to miss the deposits ,but wiil wait to see if it will work

When you have been a member as long as us and seen in recent years how the original ethos of what was in the past a real club ,has been eroded, and is now nothing more than a money making organisation, and with this latest booking system? debacle by trashing what was a user friendly system with the USP which made this club head and shoulders above other pitch suppliers,

We shall just have to wait and see, more so into next year , as many LVs are being winterised at this time of year when half term is over
And the bookings at present are mostly under the USP of the user friendly system ,as it is, only just starting to dawn on members of what has been foysted on them

While I used your text Brue, the comment was for general consumption to indicate tour planning and browsing is possible allbeit more difficult on slow small screen devices. If I was doing any advanced planning it would either be on a tablet, laptop or a desktop notably to save my eyesight.

My first experience of this club was as a 13 year old in 1973. We had an outside toilet tent, and pumped water into the caravan via a foot pump. We woke up with ice on the inside of the windows, and trudged over to the water tap in an inch of mud as hardstandings were few and far between.
The improvement in pitch type, facilities and benefits over the years are immeasurable, and why people flock to this forum to carp and moan is beyond me. Perfect? No. But to suggest that its nothing more than a money making organisation is just hyperbole.

and the profits go to keep the Club running and the sites in good condition etc etc.It does not go to share holders and in a way members get back what you pay in.

I'm using this thread solely to point up deficiencies in the new booking system or on occasions suggest ways of negotiating it. Personally I think it lacks ease of use and still has large gaps eg search facilities for CLs
There is a long list of ongoing fixes and at least CAMC are now upfront about this in the booking experience section. They have also tried to help people negotiate the site via video demos using different devices.
Had the set up been better this probably wouldn't have been necessary however it's here now and I look forward to further improvements.

On the matter of surveys being directed to site users, I would have thought any commercial enterprise would be more interested in why any members usage of CAMC sites had either declined or stopped altogether. It would be far more useful from a marketing point of view than garnering accolades on the quality of the toilet roll holders.
Because of the present execrable state of the booking system when I tried to book a pitch, I've gone to "the other lot". CAMC need to ensure that their core business is user friendly and runs seamlessly if they are to be the "go to" destination. They also need to be competitive on price.

That’s exactly what it is about. It asks what other providers you have used in 2022 and what you expect, or have planned to use in 2023. There is also a question about value for money and would you recommend the club to others.Nothing about toilet roll holders in this one.😂

My iPad has always been split screen right from the start. On the web site it is a reasonable size, as it can be used in landscape. Although a slider allowing it to be bigger or smaller would be nice.
On the App, which only works in portrait, it is a thin slit of a map which is neither use nor ornament. It can be expanded but only to full screen.0 -
Thank you to those who have expressed an interest in the Autumn Survey. For both Spring and Autumn surveys, we randomly select c40k members to be invited. We select a different 40k each time.
We have also been running mini surveys most months inviting c15k members (again different each time). These are another opportunity to share views. We will have one in November. Also in December.
