New Booking System

Teething problems!!! The system is a shambles - should never have gone live until thoroughly tested.
For example this has been copied from MY UK Site Bookings. Note the payment is due THREE years AFTER the booking.
"Payment is due for your holiday
Your next payment is due on 3 Apr 2026"3 -
With the current level of inepitude, will The Caravan Club stil exist in 2026 ?

In case some members haven't, why not have a look at this page? The FAQs section is helpful and there are also videos on how to book using different devices.
More likely to get an answer using this than waiting for an answer from the Club.

Yes, I've done two, adding a 'guest' and an extra day. It looks as if you'll have to pay a deposit, assuming it's under the old system, but the cost will £0.00.

Copied and pasted from Pugwash 117
"Is it just me? I have just come back to the website to look for another CL, and all seems totally different, the map is AWFUL and the CL and Club Site pages seem completely inaccessible. I can still access some CL pages as before, as I have them saved as bookmarks, but there seems to be no links within the new website layout to get to them.
The amount of detail abbout any given site that pops up in the side tab is sadly lacking - badly lacking - compared to the previous CL and Club Site pages, and the map detail shows no local roads, no directions to the site, and no satellite view.
The whole website redesign and new layout appears to be a total move backwards, and its usability compared to the previous version, is right out the window.I really can't be the only one having this problem, surely?!!"
I completely agree, the price per night is also not displayed.

There seems to be umpteen bodies available to answer TP, Jamie, Steve, Jess Catrina etc doesn't say much for how the Club appreciates members on here when they cannot be bothered to post on a forum used in the majority by members. If they are concerned about the answers and the debates they may be dragged into then the least they could do is to keep us informed via a read only thread.

Some time ago it was posted on CT that the sites directory) handbook may be only available in line!? rather than as now available to all members
As posted and it seems as is by site staff the other club at EGH
It should now have to be expanded with quite a few pages needed to explain in plain English rather than IT speak of how to use this new booking system and als the amount of it seems "workrounds?" what ever they are ?to make some sense for it seems most members of how to use it
Ps I have been advised today that the lack of midweek discounts is to be replaced by a system whereby prices for the sites will be similar to that of the CCCs on a rolling? date system?

C&CC operate dynamic pricing, JV.

My apology if I misunderstood but I don’t see the similarity between "rolling? date system" and the (mainly) demand led dynamic pricing system🤷🏻♂️

Dynamic pricing will set the cat amongst the pigeons😁 Someone on the next pitch staying for much less than you? (That’s if they do it properly, and fill the leftover pitches)

As others have said, the club seems to be replying to comments on social media sites such as Trust Pilot - albeit with 'standard answers'. One of these being that a survey went out to 100,000 members and that bringing back deposits was 'deemed favourable'.. Similar comments are on the club's Q&A pages.
Has anyone got a copy of that survey that was sent out and just how it was worded? Did it mention not only bringing in deposits but also linking that to an increase of notice period from 3 days to 3 weeks?

I don’t think there was ever a survey. I think it was a lot of moans and groans around how awkward it was to get a full week at a tiny number of sites because a huge number were so called block booking then cancelling late, and from this the Club devised this new booking and deposits scheme. They might have extrapolated a few thoughts from various user groups, but these remain a mystery as to who they are/were, and let’s face it, would anyone sane put their head above the parapet and shout “yes, this is what I envisaged!” (early days yet, but possible months left of trying to make the booking scheme work properly)
Its a win, win, for the Club all round. Sneaky little price increase on hardstandings, lots of lovely lolly swelling the coffers via deposits, all sorts of small print cancellation terms and conditions that may or may not get your deposit back, and there are probably still enough trusting innocents out there wanting to join, to negate those current Members not renewing!
That’s a cynic’s view of course, but the Club will sell rose tinted specs at some point…….🤭

I am very surprised they are not selling cancellation insurance!

Tried the new booking system to book a club site. Gave up, phoned and booked a CL in seconds. Looks like CLs are the answer until the new system gets to be 'user friendly'.

Go back to the old system and all will be forgiven!

can someone explain how to book via a phone as once it asks for date of birth the calander covers the screen and will not move from over the date of birth box. As the calander is current it would take at least 840 months to get to my dob. Tried to book on my chrome book to get stuck on the box for unit setup once on it, it would not move up the screen to be completed it was the background that moved not the box. Phoned the booking line to book and the person said it was possible have tried several times but still no go. Any ideas welcome.

My marketing crystal ball is telling me….it won’t be long!

Mike, if you are logged in as a member the system knows your date of birth and you don’t need to enter it when you book on line. There’s no need for other dates of birth either - Just book for yourself and pay for others who are with you when you arrive on site.

Actually, that is the simplest, (and cheapest) way of doing things. Just book for lead member, and sort it all out on arrival.

Sorry I’m late to this discussion but up to now we had all our planned site bookings made ( and kept). We have just attempted to book a CL using the website search facility for the end of October. It is so confusing !! In the end we resorted to the handbook and spoke to one CL owner who has been missed off the new system and has not had a single phone call to book on her CL sight since the new system was introduced, prior to which they had numerous calls a week and was usually full until the end of October. Having no bookings has prompted an early closure and the obvious financial consequences.
As regular CL users I personally feel that the new booking system is there to promote club sites and has made booking CL’s far more complicated.

Whilst the likes of TP, Facebook and Twitter might be getting responses from the Club they are only that, responses! They are not providing any useful information or explanations are they?
As to surveys I have done loads of them but don't recall one specifically on the subjects of deposits but then I suppose you wouldn't have such a survey as the deposit system is the solution not the cause. What people were complaining about was the lack of availability which was caused by people booking speculatively and then cancelling relatively near to arrival on site, perfectly within the old rules but it did cause issues. The Club then faced the dilemma of how to solve that issue. They could have changed the T&C's so that you had to give three weeks notice of cancellation but even them people will still book speculatively. The Club clearly reached the decision that the only way to combat that is to take a deposit which is the new system. The conditions imposed by the Club are marginally more generous than the C&CC and a whole lot better than the majority of commercial sites so it's not as if the Club is doing anything wildly different.
This topic has been widely discussed on this forum for several years so it shouldn't come as a surprise to anyone.

Last para true, but only for users, posters or lurkers, of this forum.
From a lot of comments here and elsewhere it seems that many members were unaware of the new deposit etc system. And I don’t believe they are all lying. This isn’t entirely surprising. Not all members read the magazine assiduously. And of course there was no email strategy of informing members.
Communication, communication, communication!
