New Booking System

For overseas bookings there will be a requirement for names and DOB's for all travelling long before anyone gets to look at a Passport. I think you will find this information has to be passed to the operators of whatever crossing you are using which I suspect is probably a legal requirement and also any campsites you might book. I can't see it being there in the first place unless it is required? Obviously the same does not apply to UK bookings but as I said it might depend on how easy it is to extract that requirement from the UK side of the booking form?

"Obviously the same does not apply to UK bookings but as I said it might depend on how easy it is to extract that requirement from the UK side of the booking form?"
In my opinion, any difficulty in removing it from UK bookings does not justify leaving it there. It's not a valid excuse.

Good god is this still going on
The change was bought about because, the old system could easily be abused, and that is what a lot of members chose to do
The new system is more involved then the old one . not easily abused ,but it is perfectly workable, and not that complex. Get over it. move on ,and accept that if you want to use, and abuse it like the old systems. it is going to cost you0 -
I don't think the majority of posts on here are moaning about the deposits or about the complexity they are genuine complaints that the system does not work as it should on their devices the same as myself, on my android smart phone its so slow to load its impossible to use, the same on my android tablet, it works on my laptop windows 10 which I dont carry around and use very rarely, everything else on the club site works fine only the booking system is rubbish so I'm not going to get over it and I never abused the old system which I have to say worked faultlessly.

It’s what he's always done best 🙄

Are you referring to the App or using the browser on your smart phone. I agree the App is a dead loss but using a browser in my case Firefox, it is much better on my Samsung S9 running Andriod version 10. especially if you ignore the map and work from lists. Could it be better, yes, but i am guessing It is really designed to work on desktops and laptops not on small screen devices where the App should provide the service.
When EGH spoke to me about the App, they referred to a version 1.48 which we do not have access to but is this in the pipeline and is it what we can expect to eventually be released? Can you tell us more Rowena?

The app and browser on smart phone useless , Chrome browser on tablet loads then dies the death when trying to use it I probably could book something but it would take an age, broadband speed is 30mbs so if I have problems using system the club will be losing an awful lot of bookings and not so much as a hint from the club that something is being done about it.

See below copy of one of the comments on Trust Pilot intrestingly they seem to get answered occasionally

It's occurred to me reading all these unhappy reports from good loyal customers, I think whoever designed the new website and changed the booking system has never actually stayed at a site and simply doesn't know or understand the practicalities of booking a caravan or motor home onto a campsite. You have seriously messed up CAMC.

Hi Julie-Many thanks for sending over the above feedback. 2 years ago, we migrated our Overseas booking system. This was met with some challenges but very quickly was widely used, easily managed and members can organise their upcoming site and ferry crossings on both their app and website. Following its success we have done the same with our UK sites. It is probably the largest system upgrade in 20 years and has indeed met the expected teething problems. We do understand the frustration and appreciate your patience during this time~Jamie0 -
I have used the new booking system for the second time this month and found that I had to enter the the now required personal information (including dates of birth!) , car (make and model ) ,caravan (make and model), yet again. I had assumed that this new system would remember this information. Not user freindly. Where's the improvement for the members?
the change from 3 days to 3 weeks for penalty-free cancellations is excessive and has the feeling of being a new source of income.

Booking System and Booking Policy Change
Several others have noted that the Club seem more willing to reply to posts on Customer Review sites than here. It may be a more powerful way to get our message across as members if we post our views on such sites as Trust Pilot and so on.

I've just done so. It's the first ever one star review I've ever given.
Come on CAMHC it's not too late to reverse these changes to policy. Even the Chancellor was prepared to acknowledge his mistake today!
Such a shame! You're better than this!!

John in essence you are correct, it is legal to collect and store irrelevant information about children; in fact about any person. Interestingly, what CAMC appears to be doing is actually in contravention of their own published rules. As a non-member I'm not in a good position to formally complain but I would encourage members to do so.

Just had a look on Trust Pilot, and yes there are a good few responses from the Club, unlike on here where members just get ignored. Probably because the Club doesn’t want others to see those very bad reviews without giving a response. So we can winge all we like on here without any effect at all, or members can post on Customer Review sites and maybe then CAMC will actually wake up and listen.

As a member of both the C&MC and the C&C club I have always considered the C&MC's website to be far superior and this has led me to predominantly book with the club. However, having recently experienced the new C&MC website my opinion has changed.
Apart from the trials of actually trying to make a booking, the whole appearance of the site is dreadful. I use a laptop to do research, make bookings etc rather than a smartphone so I can't comment on the app. But for the basic website it seems the designers are complicating rather than simplifying matters by trying to get much onto the screen view.
The old design was much easier to follow and use. For example, I am still to find the reviews people have left for a particular site I was thinking of booking. In the past it was so easy to find them. Not impressed at all.

I think you are whistling in the wind if you believe that those at EGH will take the slightest bit of notice of what anyone writes on here, or any other platform, about the c**p system they have introduced.

GF 10K. I am surprised but sorry you are still not able to find reviews for a particular campsite. How to do that has been asked and answered many many times in this long thread. I am afraid you are just ignoring the answers that have been given over and over again.

Why not explain to GF how to do it, Euro? That would be really helpful👍🏻

Go to book a campsite, input say Wirral Country Park for campsite. This will take you to club site then click on stars which will open reviews.
Hope this works for you as it has just worked for me.
Edit, and I'm not even interested in club site reviews.

There are plenty of new reviews being written both of club sites and CLs as can be seen from Latest Reviews.
Here's one from a couple of hours ago.

They seem to have cracked displaying reviews in the manner you describe. Also works for CL’s
However, unless I missed something, there is only a few months worth and there is no way to leave one. The only way to do that or read older reviews is to go to the search (magnifier top right) input site name (site is top of list) and retrieve the old site page.
As TW says folk are leaving lots of reviews so must be finding this round about route. It does seem strange though the CC hasn’t provide the facility on the new system, or a link to the old pages if it is there intention to keep them for reviews and directions.

The ones I’ve looked at seem to have, details of site, owner and contact details. Some are populated with reviews, some are not. Perhaps they don’t have any. The big omission seems to be price. However, as this was often reported as out of date on the old system, perhaps the CC has chosen to go without it. If you enquire about availability and price you will at least get an up to date answer.

At present it's best to stick to the website details for site reviews etc as usual and leave the booking system for bookings. The two areas haven't been integrated properly.
The problem seems to be that CAMC have used the overseas booking system and tacked on uk bookings and there are too many missing links.
I'd say booking system for bookings all other details best found on the website sections. You'll find changes on the website too. There's a lot of updating going on!

As mentioned in my post above Arch. Access the old site pages using the search magnifier, top right. Just put in the site name. It will come up at the top of the list. Just click / touch on it and you will be taken to the old site page. You can then use these as you did before, except booking, which will take you to the new system.
