It might also be that Azorah made his booking before the Club added the surcharge for electricity use?

They are out there, we haven’t paid a deposit to stay on a caravan/touring site of any kind since this Club ended its early venture into deposits, back when you sent a cheque through the post.

Sorry, not knowing your preferences, likes, dislikes, better for you to do your own searching rather than me suggest somewhere that might have no interest for you😄 If you happily get on with booking system on here, you will have no problems finding some👍

It could be indeed DK, hadn’t thought of that.

We have been trying to book a site near Leyburn, after 5 attempts I've given up and book a private site that's just as good about 2 miles away, so that's £150 the club won't get, and in future I'll be looking at private sights more often, they seem to just as good and compare favourable with the never ending price hikes the club seems set on doing.

As I have said before on other discussions, 4+ stars isn't 'letting off steam'. On the whole, TrustPilot reviews are very constructive.

Sure, you need to take some with a pinch of salt, but I have always been constructive with my reviews and I think most other peope are too. If they weren't, all average reviews would be 1 or 2

Anybody figured out how to view my bookings?

Made a booking (eventually) on new site, it did (eventually) show in my bookings, but now it doesn't, as others have reported it takes me to new bookings. I want to edit my booking - but can't even get to it.

Edit my last post- tried on different device (android smartphone as opposed android tablet) and it worked.

BUT - when changing to a cheaper pitch type for same dates (so more than adequate deposit already paid) whilst total price reduced accordingly, it still wanted a deposit. Entering zero caused an error so I entered £1 and gave my card details again, then it worked. With £1 less to pay as balance. But it should recognise no deposit required in such circumstances.

And why does my tablet not show my bookings whilst phone does? Both using chrome browser (not the app).

They will just turn up where and when they want, flash their priority card and get the type of pitch they want!!! Perks of the job, and all that.😁

Glad to see we're not the only ones with problems but it does seem creepy, with a major shift in attitude from the Club, in that it feels the Money Men have taken over.

We have tried to amend a booking tonight for later this week.  Once we worked our way through the clunky, user unfriendly, new system.  We eventually found our booking, which we made back in January, only to find we could amend but only if we paid the full amount, we want to pay on arrival but not an option this close.  First time we had tried to used the new format and it’s truly awful!!!

I do not know about anyone else, but whenever I try to use the new web-based system it keeps crashing my computer. The web page freezes and the computer fan runs flat out due to a heavy load on the CPU. I do not know what the web page it is doing in the background, but it sent my computer into Disaster Recovery Mode which was most worrying.

I think they said before the system was introduced that once up an running if you amended a booking made on the old system you would be asked for a deposit. Is the full payment to be taken on the day of arrival rather like the C&CC system?

I’d check the amounts charged as well heddlo. The price from Jan, and the price now could be significantly different, at least a £1 per night if you have a HS. Then there’s the fuel surcharge……….😬

Not the case with the one in May next year that I extended into June. The end screens were the same as when booking a new site but the deposit required was shown as £0 and I was not taken to the payment screen. The revised booking is shown on “my bookings” and I received a confirmation email.

TW. Some of us are already in the system with previous bookings, in fact I expect there are a lot of us and this is where quite a few of the questions and work arounds are coming from.

So how does that explain why people are stressing themselves to sort things out? Your bookings are either there or they're not. You either turn up on site or you cancel. Why struggle with a system that's not fit for purpose?

It’s not a very well thought out system and there are certainly things that need addressing. However now after a week or so, it’s not that difficult to make a booking. Certainly not enough of an issue to forgo booking a site that I want to visit.

I have to admit I am really struggling with the new system, some of the bugs must have been ironed out, previously we could not book using our iPhone/iPad or Windows 10, fortunately with a struggle we have now managed one booking using Windows 10.

Unfortunately we have started looking at private sites for our other booking, we love the CMC sites but the system has become to complicated for us, shame.

I’m pleased it’s working for you now, Steve👍🏻.

However, it should have been better thought out and working for everyone from the start without producing the angst we read of in posts similar to the one below yours as folk struggled to find work arounds.

We have recently returned from a club site in Dorset a number of members are not happy about the new system, the changes and the ever increasing cost of club sites there are 2 commercial sites just up the road 4 members and myself visited these to assess them, they both turned out to have better pitches, facilities and worked out significantly cheaper one reason being the CAMC extends the high season dates, the receptionist said she had quite a few people from the club site visit that week, now the club have more or less aligned their booking terms with commercial sites I and I'm sure many other loyal members will seek alternatives the club has thrown away its advantage.

Any new system no matter whether simple to use or not will still take some getting used to. Some seem to have found this one particularly difficult but it is as Steve says some of us have more experience of using system than others and have had less of a problem.

If you read up about the reasons behind the changes you'd find that CAMC were losing over 25% of bookings through cancellations, 950,000 (nearly a million) tot that up with say an average £25 per night stay and it might point to the reason for not continuing. The terms now changed are still quite good compared to other commercial enterprises especially the ones where there are non refundable deposits and early fee payments.

Obviously if you're not happy with CAMC sites there's plenty of choice out there.

The new booking system will no doubt settle down, it's been irritating to find that it's not been fully tested and information is missing but it has been improving.

I recently tried looking at a holiday and flights to a pleasant warm destination, try one of those sites if you think costs and workings on here are "stressful!" wink

I don’t know who you are addressing there, Brue, but if it was in some obscure way responding to my posts, you have missed the point.

Incidentally, I don’t find it stressful at all as I’m not one of the people struggling with the system. It ain’t my job to do that.😉

There’s a big +1 Tinny👍🏻. I’ve not had a single issue with booking either before or after the booking system roll out. That’s because I’ve not used CAMC all year, I wanted family glamping, I wanted sites booking but I had issues booking x2, read CT re other probs & bailed. I spent my money on other helpful providers. It will stay that way too. . .Stressless.

I think that was the headline figure but as far as I'm aware there was no explanation of what constitutes a cancellation did this figure also include amendments, was it just cancellation after the 72hr notice period, 25% seems a awful lot but I'm sure on the sites I visited there wasn't 25% of pitches vacant.

What a situation.  We appear to have a system  that is not fit for purpose. Members quitting plus wardens being put under pressure by disgruntled members does not bode well for the future.  I have tried booking sites for October but gave up and booked other sites via other search systems.  A real shame, hopefully the system can be scrapped and a new system that meets the requirements of members and wardens be implemented.

This is what the club said, Arch -

"In a normal year, we were seeing over 25% of all bookings being cancelled (that’s over 950,000 cancelled nights...every year!) Of those cancelled nights, over 25% were made within four days of arrival, so it was very difficult for other members to take advantage of the newly vacant pitches. And it wasn’t just a small minority of ‘block bookers’ who were cancelling, almost half of all members who made a booking each year made at least one amendment or cancellation too."

From that we can deduce that around 250000 nights were cancelled within 4 days of arrival. In itself that is interesting as only 3 days before arrival was breaching the booking rules. While 250000 may sound quite a lot, it is only a very small proportion of the site nights available across the network in a whole year.

What we don’t know is how many of those site nights were re-sold and it’s my guess a considerable number would have been, especially from the approx 750000 cancelled prior to the quoted 4 days.

As an aside, it’s strange (or is it?) that the club suddenly changed its view that speculative/block booking wasn’t a problem to the opposite point of view.
