Try the FAQs, FB, and you’ll be as wise as the rest of us.

Translation of "case by case basis" means "we'll make it up as we go along".
If there’s no HS pitch available, tough luck, you can’t stay. If there is a HS, they’ll try to charge you for it unless you make a big fuss at reception when the office is full of other people trying to book in. 😈

At that time there was no difference in the cost of grass or HS. The future is a big unknown with regard to paying extra if only HS is available in those circumstances.

Every year there is a possibility that some sites can't cope with adverse weather conditions, we've had breaks cancelled or postponed I think this is something most of us are used to and it's part of the system already. It's nothing new!

Agreed but the difference in pricing by pitch surface is new which is what DD was getting at.

Given that when the facilities at Culloden were out of action for over a month, we were contacted and told it was up to us, we could cancel or still come, but no reduction in price was available. I think it very unlikely that you are going to be offered a more expensive option at no cost, in the event of a grass pitch being unavailable.

I did make reference to that in my reply to DD.

I think my “tongue in cheek” post has been misconstrued as discourteous or disparaging to other users of the forum, TinWheeler. And I see that the post has now been removed. Fair enough.
My point is this is now one of the longest discussion threads going on the forum. I simply suggest a “what’s the latest info?” thread for people like me who prefer not to scroll through so many posts.
No need to fall out with anyone - we’re all in this together and want to see the Club deliver what was promised 3+ months ago.

With the other club shortly after they had introduced an extra charge for H/S, we had booked a grass pitch at their Oban site. On arrival all the grass pitches left were flooded and unusable. We were given a H/S pitch at no additional cost, wonder if this club will do thev same?

It sure wasn’t a well thought out post and was impolite which is probably why it was removed.
Long thread? It’s nothing to the 10000+ posts in good old Sunday Departures and others.😄
I think it’s a safe bet that another thread will just end up as a duplicate of this one but, as Corners suggested, you are free to start one.
I put a link on earlier to the FAQs and that will tell you the latest info.

I think that we will have to wait for the Club to provide us with definitive information on when the new booking system will start as there have been many false dawns. Being that this is a discussion forum for members and not (usually) a direct conduit for information from the Club we often do go around the houses. I can see that if you are new to the discussion that it appears to be long winded but we have been waiting a long time for everything to be confirmed and the longer it goes on the more you are likely speculation creeps in, all part of the fun of it really! Might I suggest you read the last two or three pages of comments and them add anything you wish to the discussion based on the most recent element of the discussion.

It's an embarrassment for the club that this new system is obviously having so many problems that the start date keeps gets pushed back. April, June, then two dates in August?
I often wonder what these problems could be and how they keep being discovered and by whom?
And why doesn't the club just publish something?

Sensibly I think it will all depend on at what point you are made aware that the pitch is not available. If prior to arrival then I would expect it to be down to the member as to whether to accept a refund or pay extra for a better pitch. If it is on arrival then that whould be down to the Club and any upgrade available would be at no extra cost. In the latter case if nothing is available then the question of compensation would arise.
That is how I view it.

We don’t yet know what this new booking site will look like. Perhaps it won’t show you that grass is available, dependent on vehicle type and how far in advance you are booking. This would reduce the risk of having to cancel someone who has booked months before.
This certainly happens with the C&CC when booking 10 months ahead. The only pitches on offer for a MH were hardstanding, although if I changed our outfit type, grass appeared. As I was after HS it wasn’t an issue, however if I had wanted grass I would have had to leave booking until much later. When I’ve been looking closer to departure for a few days away, grass has been offered as an option, but not always HS.0 -
I don’t think it would affect tent campers brue. They are not going to impact as much on the grass. It just wouldn’t let me book a 3.5 tonne MH on anything other than HS for an early May arrival. Might have been different if I had tried July.

We do tend to book well ahead, typically 10 months. I don’t suppose they are going to know if grass is going to be suitable for a MH in the first week of May. I wanted HS, so it wasn’t an issue but was surprised that everything else was booked up. So out of interest I tried other accommodation types. I could have had a grass with electric with a caravan. It makes sense, I am very wary about taking the MH onto soggy grass. Although we preferred HS, I wasn’t as concerned when we had a caravan. When we visited there were MH’s on grass, but perhaps they booked later.
