Why is it that our so-called batsmen (of which we currently have one, maybe two) can play proper crikkit shots one day, return the following day and proceed to 'perform' like they've never played Test Match crikkit?
It's so frustrating, but not nearly as much as paying a subsciption to Sky and tuning in to find it's not even being broadcast! Some phone company has the rights! Grrrrrrr! Having to tune in to Tinternet wireless and watching snippets of clips was not what I signed up for. I may have to go upstairs for a review.

Ahem! Car crash indeed!
I wonder if Frank Williams is resting peacefully, or indeed, if he was a crikkit fan? His racing team certainly spoiled Lewis Hamilton's chances of becoming world champion so maybe he could put the mokkers on the Aussies?!

I’ve thought of a way we can keep some ashes. Put the entire squad,s return tickets into an ashtray and burn them, then make the useless beggars work their passage back home on a banana boat or similar
Two words sum up the lot of them. Absolutely and Pathetic. They are an embarrassment and a disgrace. They should set off home now and give the Aussies the series because they’re not going to win any of the remaining three matches are they?
They seem to think that because they’re middling at the crash bang wallop form of the game they can play the five day game. They’re deluded they aren’t capable of taking a match to five days are they?
Now I need to go and lie down in a darkened room

And a Merry Christmas to all Down Under { NOT !! }
The Tail end tried grinding out a draw but to no avail alas -- hate to say this but I really do hope that Covid Protocols blank out the rest of this Ashes Tour, I am not sure if I can face three (3) more matches like this last one.

That’s certainly true and it was possibly also to give their bowlers a bit of a rest. Do we still call them bowlers now that we’re calling batsmen batters. And did you notice that in Oz the lunch break is now the dinner break . Whatever next.
I’ve just read that it’s likely that Burns and Pope will be dropped for the next test, however the fact they’re looking to bring Crawley back doesn’t fill one with confidence. Bairstow for Pope isn’t too bad I suppose.

Ah yes, Hokey Cokey Bairstow -- In out in out and shake him all about !
Poor lad probably won't know if it's Christmas or Easter or his sixth Birthday !
I still think he is the second best wicket keeper we have ~~ the first being Ben Woakes !

Yep he’s certainly inconsistent and probably a better batter in the short format matches these days but he’s certainly no worse than Pope whereas I’m not sure that poor old Crawley is an improvement on Burns.
We shall see on Boxing Day.

Sad news indeed. It was recently reported in the paper that he was ill, and having seen his wife suffer from cancer before her death, he was in support of assisted dying.
He was a really good spin bowler and captain. I couldn’t understand why he left Yorkshire and went to Leicestershire as he did, but knowing how Yorkshire operate there’s sure to be a back story.
RIP Ray Illingworth
I see the numpties playing down under have yet again shown how brittle their batting is.
That’s goodbye to the series and now all they have to play for is to prevent a whitewash.The chances of that are, I’m afraid, slim to say the least.

I am not in the least embarrassed by the performances in Australia, Jonray !! I have been well aware of the total incompetence of the crikit Authorities in these islands, and have been posting away on the strength of my knowledge , alas, for three years or more.
I am, now, waiting to see :_
A) if the team changes will be as before, 2 batsmen (!) and three bowlers.
if the Australian Cricket Authorities allow England & Wales cricketers to remain in their Southern fiefdom despite having proven themselves to be total incompetents trading on their betters reputations, dodgy as some of those have been !
C) if the international organisers demote E & W to the level that their cricket performances deserve. { Notice carefully that I say "Their Performances " not the level that many years of organising World Cricket has given them to believe they merit }

The final comment from Brian !!
Apparently there was a quickly arranged, VOLUNTARY, training session for England this morning. Not sure if it was attended by EIGHT (8) or TEN (10) of England's finest .
I hope that the idea of training this morning { Antipodean Time } was proposed by the players, not management, and that any fit but absent player has his full Touring Fees cancelled/reclaimed/ blocked forthwith !!

I don't expect to see any improvement what-so-ever in the standard of cricket in the short to medium term ! I treated myself to a couple or so of different papers today ~~ all of them proposed improvements/changes to the cricket organisations responsible for red / pink / white ball games. The only consensus was to sack the whole of the management, including the tea ladies, and starting again BUT, alas, from very different points and using the same bods but in different contexts YEUK !!.
