I think your point is well made Trellis. The biggest problem i see, however, is that these 'young and up and coming' spinners being selected in the first place. Mr Root has a large say in team selection and obviously got it very wrong in the last Test. Tomorrow, on the same square, it will be interesting to see how many of the seamers get picked (rested is the modern phrase, I believe) particularly as the current crop are unable to amass 10 runs between them. If Root can achieve 5-8, the inclusion of Bess and Parkinson (for example) could mean we get the Indians all out for 20 (in each innings) thus ensuring a famous England victory!! laughing My figures assume England will get 41 runs in extras! Roll on tomorrow laughing

Looking like it's going to be the sixth consecutive innings when England fail to pass 200. 😯😡 Currently 174-7 (nearly 8 down) We need the services of a good batting coach

Oh No We Haven't   !!  laughing

If we can find a decent batting coach, JR, could we smuggle him in at about No 5 ??

Still I saw the wikits again on More4 + 1 and they did not look any better but I've got it sussed for tomorrow ( probably the last day undecided )  -- I will get up at same time, go for my newspaper then put on BBC 1 to watch the ATHLETICS !!

Apparently MT doesn't take up his new role until later this month. We'll just have to rely on Jimmy until then 😀

Quite agree JR, 65~ 6 now !  Even the commentators back in England { Rishi Persad, Andrew Strauss, and young Ebony } are using words like Abject and  Surrender and such --  think I will try to find a televised  'shove 'appeny' league to watch 'til the athletics starts

P.S.   ?? undecided  High Lights,  JR High lights ?? -- none to be seen from England's point of view alas !!

There's always the chance Jimmy will get a double hundred and then take 10 wickets in 4 overs 😯 (No, I haven't won the lottery either!)

Well a super game with a corresponding result ~~ could this be the start of something BIG  ??

Dammit, I seem to recall posting something along those lines before somewhere.  Could this be the start of a long slow downhill slope ??

Ah Well,  Tuesday 13:30 should see if its just a case of Winning the toss means winning the game / series,  but Brian has a nasty feeling that it's all going to somewhere in a Handcart  frown

    Doomed, doomed, we're all doomed

I think I will close down for a few hours and go off to read a couple or six different fantasy books, sniff, sniff !

Winning the toss absolutely essential Brian, to enable side who's batting second to win. Great effort by Buttler yesterday!

So, Heads or Tails on a series win? wink

    Oh Dearie Me !!

    Fielding First

    20 overs gone

    225 runs scored

Only good News is :- Half the Adult population has had at least one jab

But  even THAT does not guarantee knocking off the runs before the flight leaves !!
