How's your footy team doing?

Well Town certainly did a number on them last night, and confounded a lot of people’s expectations. The fan’s forum hold a vote before every match and there was a hefty majority voted for a Rovers win.
As for their manager, I remember him blaming Town for their relegation in 2017 because David Wagner played a few squad players in the two matches prior to the playoff final.
He seemed to forget that his team had been rubbish for the other 42 games, so I’ve not a lot of time for Mr Mowbray.
Mind you I’d have their no 22 in our team in a heartbeat although the penalty from which he got his second goal last night was a travesty .

Why does the flipping’ international break come when my team are on a bit of roll?
Town confounded expectations again by getting something away at Luton so yes they’re on a bit of a roll having seen off Blackburn in the preceding week.A shout out to the club their efforts to re-establish the connection with the fans. At the end of the Blackburn game the entire squad went over to the fans in the cow shed end and held up a banner with legend “KEEP FIGHTING DAZ”
Daz is s young lad who stands in that end who unfortunately has terminal cancer. A nice touch that I’m sure will have given him a bit of lift.
Incidentally the ‘cow shed’ is a hark back to the old ground at Leeds Road where the covered end of the ground looked very much like a cow shed or an open sided Dutch barn. It now refers to the home part of the South Stand, which I’ve always thought was a weird description as it’s really more on the west side of the ground.

I feel very sad about football at the moment. Newcastle United have long deserved better ownership than they have endured the last decade or so, but I do worry about what has happened now. A dark day as far as I am concerned, much wider implications than winning a few trophies☹️

Sad, Dark days indeed TtDA, it seems like money is all that matters in sport as indeed anywhere else, nowadays. True Fans i.e. lovers of the game ( any game ), not 'shirt-wearers' have seen this coming for some time, in fact ever since " agents " and million pound waged players started to dominate the sports pages.

Funny you should mention shirt wearers. I was in Newcastle on a match day a few years ago ( my eldest GS was at uni there ) and saw a load of blokes in the black and white shirt. I said to my GS will they all be going to the match and he replied that they probably didn’t have tickets but lots of them would just be wearing their shirts around the city that afternoon.
On a more serious note, it’s Hull City up at the JSS on Saturday and I just discovered that they are yet to score away from home. You just know what’s going to happen 😡

Perhaps those nasty Elecky Eels could / should be issued, by the dozen , to the stewarding staff at Wem ber lee then perhaps a few international games could take place before real football fans , well when they are permitted back in again !!

A very well thought out solution Brian! Imagine if it were truly the case and said eel could, surreptitiously, be inserted down the trouser leg of said youths! Even better if the stewards could actually activate the eel at will! The mind boggles.
I'm interested to hear what steps are being taken against the 'Ungarians?

Town won a hard fought match on Saturday against a team who came to niggle and foul ably aided and abetted by a referee who’ll have better matches.
At a quarter past four on Saturday morning 150 Town supporters set off from the JSS by coach to Elland Road to the start of a 22 mile sponsored walk back to the stadium via the Shay in Halifax.
The walk was in memory of Frank Worthington who played for Town, Leeds and Halifax among others including a number of caps for England.Money raised will go to the Yorkshire Air Ambulance and the Alzheimer’s Society.
Those who walked took a lap of honour round the ground before the match and it was heartwarming to see every Hull City supporter stand and applaud as they walked past the away section. If the match had been played in the same spirit it would have been much better

Hats off to the Terriers’ fans for their efforts in fundraising (particularly for the Air Ambulance- whom our golf club also raise funds for) and for the victory over Hull, who in my opinion, play football akin to their rugby league neighbours 😂 Good on them for their applause though 👏👏👏

You’re spot there.
I’m not sure if it’s currently the case but before the pandemic screwed everything up and the Pedal for Pounds sponsored cycle rides were in full swing they reckoned that every time the Air Ambulance was tasked to a Huddersfield post code that call out was paid for by the football club through its foundation.
That sort of makes you proud to support the club.As an aside there was what I always knew as a “ flag day” , at the ground on Saturday, you know people collecting money in buckets, Now I haven’t carried cash for a long time and having passed a couple of people collecting I said to one that they needed to be contactless . The chap replied that they had card readers nearer the stadium. So a first for me I made a donation with my mobile phone. Technology heh. The charity was Forget Me Not which provides special treats for terminally ill children.

Delighted to see your post, Rog, and the subject matter. Can you remember the days of the collections using an old grey blanket & fans lobbing coins and, hopefully, getting them to the blanket without hitting a half dozen fans in front ?? Well the next collection at or near the Porrage Pitch will most likely be for a direct land line to The Coast Guard & R N L I.

Yes - things aren't looking good for City - another defeat last night. I wouldn't be at all surprised to see Steve Bruce back soon (if only), together with a much-needed change of ownership.

My Season ticket bearing Neighbours assured Brian that the Chip Shop opposite the ground still has the ability to lift a few down hearted footy fans, even those who stayed right up to the bitter end and I aint talking of hop juice either !!

And those self same neighbours have come home from the porridge pitch and have decided to watch the very latest re-run of the "Harry Potter " films on the assumption they can then suppose that this last week won't have happened !!

Join the club Brian. Town have recently developed a nasty habit of dropping points from winning positions. 5 points dropped in 5 days. I’m very upset.
It’s the Baggies at the JSS next Saturday followed by QPR away, it’s not looking good.
I’m going to matches on my tod for the foreseeable . The GS has got a nasty dose of long covid and can’t manage the long walk to the ground and the zillions of stairs to our seats right at the back of the main stand, brilliant seats but a hell of a climb. He was recovering slowly then had his jab at school which unfortunately set him back to square one

Join the club, Brian Join the club
Did I read that correctly, Rog ?? I was there, as Max Boyce would say, When the entrance fee was 9d and 1.5d for a programme grrrrrrr and they still could not beat the Sally Army's Big Bass Drum more grrrrrrrs !!
Still they got two goals and three points today so I really mustn't grumble too much today

Those were the days when I paid 1 old shilling to get in at the schoolboy’s gate, I can’t remember the price of a programme though
Anyhoo against the odds the Terriers dug out a win yesterday against the high flying Baggies. Fair play to their travelling fans they sold out their part of the South stand, and I haven’t seen that many coaches since we set off to Wemberlee in 2017. I said to a bobby on the way out that’s a lot of coaches and he said yes there’s 17, I said I know I’ve counted them. How sad am I?
QPR away on Wednesday UTT.
