enjoy your holiday wherever you choose to take it but be wary of complacency thinking because you are in the UK you are immune because you are not, in fact more at risk because of the crowds whereas if we do manage to get abroad we will be at much less risk due to less crowds and more space.

Our decision to postpone had nothing to do with the risks of contracting covid whilst in France, which I did not rate as any higher than here, and much more to do with other factors.

We will be away next weekend at a wedding then hopefully next month over there, more worried about the wedding TBH, but as i say if thigs go pear shaped we may see you on our travels.  Weighed up pros and cons and the only cons are the barriers Boris is putting up with testing etc. just hoping that changes in next 2 weeks but if not looks like its going to add £100 to our holiday bill.

On a negative note ET emailed today to say our train time has been pushed to a bit later so I am assuming that they have either cut ours out or its oversubscribed.

As I said we will only go if the situation is same as now and Boris bingo does not change the landscape negatively.

perhaps you should consider these also if you have not already seen them

As an experienced caravanner i thought you would have known better than to venture out end of June beginning of July especially as many people were still furloughed if you wanted tranquil sites, towns and cities.

Of course it was going to be busy as will France June/July/August, and Hill Head?, one of the most popular sites on the CAMC network undecided

Personally it does not bother me what others think of our decision. It was ours and ours alone, so why would I?

I've given up trying to explain that intention and interest are two completely different concepts! I have absolutely no intention of dragging a van around Europe and never have done. But I am certainly interested in this thread and its implications for us if we do venture "over there" in the near future.

Well said, WTG. But it's nothing new - that sort of comment (more than a hint in my book) has been aimed at many of us all too often in the past.

We cannot go outside the UK at the moment.

You cannot as in you personally or the population in general?  Of course it is an individual decision to do anything, no one is forcing anyone to go anywhere but it just seem those that don't want to go seem to think that no one else should as well.

You were indeed, but it seems still that the difference between intention and interest is a mystery to some! undecided

Never any harm in re-explaining! 👍

I just find it strange that someone would take an interest in something they had no intention of doing that's all.undecided

I've no intention of climbing Everest but I'm still interested in reading accounts of those who do or have done. It's called open mindedness! 👍

But we digress! I've asked questions and had replies on this thread which will be very helpful if we do venture into Europe, albeit just for a week on an organised walking holiday. smile

This thread started with advice for those who are going overseas plus observations from those who are already there. Of course those who are merely interested in the situation can read it too. I just wish some members would cut out the criticism of those who are planning to go.

Or should we have the "balls" to defy the medics and be brave enough???

That of course is your decision to take and yours alone.

I cannot recall seeing criticism of those who are planning to go but I’ve seen plenty of barbed comments aimed at those not planning to go.

The thread has been cluttered with posts from members describing where they are going in the UK and why. Those holiday plans should be in the UK section, not here. If members would like to post there they can explain their choices, and then this thread can deal with overseas matters - giving advice and experience on that subject.

Fully agree about posting in the appropriate section ET. But perhaps you could do the same and not post in the UK section about overseas holidays and how much better it is?

    Just a thought.

The reverse happens so often in the UK section, unfortunately.😕
