France moves to Amber List, NHS QR accepted

I can understand that Steve, at least you have family over there that could help/advise you if needed.
I know I want to go, I know once there I'll be fine. It's the anticipation of what if.
Looking on the worse case if France goes Red, you get a few days notice. In that time you have to alter your return booking (no doubt at over inflated prices) you have to get to the port in time, you also have to organise a covid test and get the result. Book a 2 day test in the UK.
On the bright site, the weather will be better, free to move around from site to site whenever we want, no overcrowded sites, no white peg and hopefully lots of nice places to visit and cycling to do.

We are booked for 29th so just after the next round of Boris's RED/AMBER/GREEN Bingo Lottery game. If France stays AMBER (no different to GREEN) the next review is 3 weeks later so towards the end or our trip. At that review if it goes RED we will have 3 or 4 days to get based on past changes home so no isolation.
Not worried about the tests as you can get one at a French Pharmacy anywhere 72 hours before travelling and all you need to do is book the day 2 test on line and insert the code into PLF.
If we had longer I would not be bothered at all but as Mrs T has to be back at work (I WFH) she cannot isolate.
Stop worrying and get over there and enjoy, you are only here once and for 150,000 people they can no longer enjoy the choice of shall I or Shan't I

Truckers are already exempt so would have thought that would continue.
Also I was thinking today that it is unlikely they would go RED as it would be impossible to set up enough hotels in and around Dover for instance to be able to take the volume of people and MH/Caravans/Vans to take them all, same for most ports I imagine but not impossible of course and perhaps they are working on it as we speak.
A lot of bad press at the moment as to why they insist on a test at all let alone a PCR test as no one else does so lets hope they change so no tests required.

"all you need to do is book the day 2 test on line and insert the code into PLF."
I'm a little confused about the practicalities of this Day 2 testing scheme. Presumably you order it well before setting off on your trip. When is it sent to you? As soon as you order it? Or do you have to specify/estimate a return date? And where is the "code" you have to fill in on the PLF? We may well not need it but if I could just persuade Mrs M, who knows?

would not happen, as Euro T explained some where on this forum if a country goes red you can only fly in to designated airports, you would either have to stay until the country came out of red, or find somewhere to store your Lv and then fly in

My daughter coming in from Spain via France ordered her test weeks in advance to be delivered to us, we sent her the necessary codes that she had to put on the locator form, when she arrived at ours she did the tests as normal, then it was 2 & 8 + 10 days isolation or 5 day quick release test, so for you you could order test well before your trip take the necessary codes to be put into your locator form with you and enter before you return to UK, take test at home on day 2 post in the relevant priority post box, daughter used Boots and they provided packet etc with address and postage paid as part of the service, not cheap.

Or wait till you are due to come home to book online then if Boris changes his mind and you no longer need them you have not wasted any money. Tell them your arrival date and they will deliver to home for when you arrive. You get the code to enter online as required at time of booking and I saw some sites you have to activate the test so maybe at time of activation you enter your arrival dates etc.

I cannot imagine they would force you to leave your car/MH/van etc. somewhere and force you to fly home so thats totally stupid, imagine the queues at Calais plus who would insure your vehicle I know my insurance company would not.
Also if you need your car for work/caring for someone etc/ how would that work if it was still in Europe somewhere.
Too many people making it up as they go along including Boris, the problem is they cannot control ports like they can airports.

Euro T gave the info on this forum only saying what he posted, how many LV's will be in France, from some reports on here there are relatively few Brits on sites, not good, but think about all those folk actually in the air flying to Mexico when Mexico went red, how must they have felt, take your point and all of this is why we did not even consider taking our car over, Covid takes no prisoners
p.s. have they got enough hotel rooms to put France or Spain on the red list ?????

"Nobody travelling really"
Where did i say that ?????
what i said was that some folk already in France reported on this forum that few Brits were on French sites, never mentioned Spain.
"According to ET 800 passengers were on the first Plymouth Santander sailing after the shutdown
dont doubt that but how many were traveling with LV's, a lot of expats and others returned after lock down

"Same with the chunnel not up to normal levels but still a lot of people over there and likely to be even higher in September onwards as the old un's take their holidays out of the peak season. "
very true and by September lots of EU countries will have caught up with the UK re the numbers who have had both lots of the vaccine which should make travelling over there a lot lot safer

No need for an internet search. Almost every pharmacy in every French town will do an antigen test plus certification for you in your final 72 hours in France - just walk in and ask if they speak English. Set price is 29 euros.

There are hints of broggadocio in some of the posts on here. Some dismissive of posters' genuinely felt apprehension of falling foul of regulations and officialdom. My question about what to do if your 72 hour lfd is positive remains largely unnaswered. Put it another way, what if you catch a dose of covid in France? If you caught a dose of flu, then you'd soldier on and get on the ferry/ train and get home. Not so with covid. I don't have a smart answer to this scenario.
We're off to snp-free Dumfries and Galloway instead of Provence. We hope to have free passage to and from!
P,s the Club's advice if you catch Covid is to leave the site ASAP and go home. OK for UK.

Chasncath, I share your concern, but suggest that for anyone who fails a Covid test before leaving France their first call should be to their travel insurance company.
I have taken out insurance with the Staysure company in the past and have found they give comprehensive cover for medical problems .The details on their policy show they are well aware of the possibility of their customers falling and ill while overseas, and they speak of providing accommodation and financial support if it necessary to isolate before coming home.
Those who are going overseas might like to ask their insurers some “What if” questions before they go in order to be better prepared.

I don't dispute that may be the case but I can't find anything that refers going into a pharmacy to get a test.
On the gov.uk site it is quite specific that it is your responsibility to make sure the test you have meets all the required specifications.
On the eurotunnel site it gives you the link that brue posted. In that link it takes you to a map of france and sites where you can get a test. As I posted I couldn't find a pharmacy among them.
If as you say any pharmacy in France will do a test with the relevant paperwork that is required why is there no information on any site saying that.
I'm finding it frustrating being given advice that I can't substantiate on line. Where did you get this information please.
I really don't mean to be rude but I don't want to find out at the last minute that I can't get one done in a pharmacy and I should have made an appointment days before with a private clinic.

Tammy, if you type Covid Test at Pharmacy in France in your internet search box you find reassurance from sources in France.

True. However we had a very pleasant 10 days on a CL in Lincolnshire away from the madd(en)ing crowd.
As far as I'm concerned it's not the rules that stop us going to France, it's the fact that the things we enjoy - markets, chatting to local people, restaurants etc - will be nowhere near as much fun.
And of course the risk of infection. A friend, who has had both (Pfizer) doses caught Covid a couple of weeks ago probably from an unmasked taxi driver. Although it was not as bad as some it was extremely unpleasant and I would not want to risk it.
There will be other years.
