No, it means I made my mind up.

To return to the topic, again, I'm with Meth 100%. I said way back that the extra 4 weeks was both inevitable and sensible. There is evidence now that younger people are spreading the virus so it's clear there's an urgent need to vaccinate those folk before further easing of restrictions.

I read that David and still hold out hope. I have not yet amended our September booking. However, with us having the highest rates in Europe as of June the 14th, particularly in relation to France. I fear it might be more a case of them deciding they do not want us and reimposing a quarantine period. Particularly as our cases are almost exclusively the Indian variant.
The European countries with the highest rate of new infections are listed below. The figures are the rolling seven-day average for new confirmed COVID cases per million, up to 14 June.
UK 107
Spain 105
Latvia 92
Belarus 90
Russia 84
Denmark 78
Netherlans 77
Sweden 77
Greece 72
Slovenia 71
Portugal 71
Lithuania 67
France 58
Belgium 65
Cyrpus 63

Sad to read today that Cornwall is being asked to ‘treble its efforts’ to reduce Covid numbers. We are here at present and sadly we can see all too well why numbers are increasing and I do hope we aren’ t adding to that!! We are trying to only visit quiet, limited number places but even Trelissick gardens cafe was fairly rammed a few days ago; we didn’t get to see the garden as there seemed too many people around so after coffee we left. So far have only driven through St. Mawes and decided it was too busy to use the Co-op and I wouldn’t get out of car! We drove through Perranporth recently, same there absolutely packed, no face masks in evidence and no social distancing anywhere. Sorry holidaymakers but responsibility doesn’t end at home!!!

Thankyou, Heddlo, for recognising the problem and acting accordingly. Infection rates in the county are rising sharply and influx of people is the major cause. Thousands came here in connection with the G7 and positive tests were found. Holiday makers are also arriving all the time and may be adding to the rise in rates but they are also putting themselves at risk as you have realised.
I'd suggest avoiding the seaside towns for food shopping but try more inland places such as Camborne, Redruth, St Austell, Launceston. Shops such as the Co-op and Lidl are often less crowded than the big supermarkets. Evening shopping is quieter too.

I hope the situation improves TW, Cornwall did well after last years holiday influx but I suppose we have a much more virulent Covid virus at present so not so easy to control. I think I'm right in saying that one person with the Delta strain can infect six people? But I've also read that the outbreaks are levelling off in some areas so let's hope that will be the case everywhere as vaccinations increase and immunity builds up.

Cornwall did do OK last year, all things considered, but we are presently at the top of the SW league table for infections. I, too, grasp at the straw of outbreaks levelling off.
The only good thing is that vaccinations appear to be largely preventing hospitalisation. Our NHS resources would be overwhelmed otherwise and we'd not even be at this level of easing lockdown. A four week extension would not be on the cards if we were in that state and realising that shows us how far we've travelled down this treacherous road.

I think a lot of areas are really busy at the moment. We’re normally in Spain / France from late May to early July, but this week we’re in Hawes.
The campsite is pretty full, Hawes village is absolutely rammed, but a walk in any direction, and you’re out in beautiful countryside with just sheep for company.
Hope you enjoy Cornwall, in spirit of the crowds. 🙂

Heddlo, you are allowed to be here. Although we (residents) may sometimes wish for fewer people to be in the County, I’m sure we realise how important you are to our economy.
What was despicable, was the sneaky way people broke lockdown rules to visit the area which was worrying and frustrating but things are different now and we have more freedom. The only thing that matters is that visitors act sensibly with regard to gathering and wearing face coverings. Personally, I'm staying away from busy places and crowds whether here or elsewhere.

As far as I’m aware, this is not the Government’s current legislation.
There are no lockdown restrictions in England, local or wherever, people are free to travel as they wish.
It’s just foreign travel that is restricted. For now, anyway....🙂

"There are no lockdown restrictions in England, local or wherever..."
youre correct...but perhaps there should have been a few weeks back when irate councils mis-interpreted govt 'advice' not to enter/leave the Delta variant areas unless necessary....and the 'advice' was subsequently erased...
rather, this was exactly the time to put a lid on the rising case numbers in these areas, aggrevated by large number of non jabbers.

There are still "road map" out of Covid requests in places with high incidences of the virus asking people not to travel in and out of the areas concerned. If the requests are ignored the virus spreads to other places. It may not be a legal restriction but it seems to be a valid request.

Hence the reason we cancelled our stay in Lancashire, instead head to our home county. However driving around yesterday we were surprised just how busy the Lakes were, even on a wet Wednesday outside of the main holiday period.
On the BBC news tonight it stated that the main infections in Cornwall occurred the week before the G7 meeting, the week of the Bank Holiday, and that it was those people in their late teens, early 20s that were by far those most affected.

They conveniently forgot the advance parties setting up the media centre, barricades, accommodation and so on for the G7. They were here from mid/late May.
I've no doubt the crowds who came over the bank hol played a major part but I’ll not believe the official view regarding the G7 when, literally, many thousands came here from all over this country and the world.

The UK is now being pressurised by EUFA to allow fans to the games at Wembley with no quarantine. What planet are these people on when the Delta variant is out of control. Will Boris and money allow it to happen? Dont hold your breath.

100% agreement there, B2 & Huskydog
I saw a couple of 20-year olds on tv yesterday with the 'We are young and fit, so it won't hurt us.. . . . . .' Perhaps, just perhaps it's time to bring back Matt Hancock's derided comment ' Don't kill Your Granny with Covid ' etched on a baseball bat

I see that today there were more first vaccinations than second ones, so, as Fisherman says the big push is on, trying to get those 18 and over done at least once as soon as possible.

G7, Bank holiday, who knows, what i can say is that i have just spent 3 weeks in Cornwall and have visited mainly beaches and some NT places such as Trelissick ranging from St Ives Bay to Newquay and even mid week most places were full to capacity and at weekend overflowing, and unfortunartely due to the make up of Cornwall e.g. lots of small villages with very narrow pavements etc, social distancing just goes out of the window.
I also saw several hotels/restaurants in the Newquay area that were closed due to staff proving positive for Covid, so not just St Ives .
We did try to avoid overly crowded areas, and always avoided eating/drinking inside, but we need to start putting our faith into the vaccine.
wont be going to Cornwall during July/August, those that live there have my sympathy, think i would SORN my car for 3 months during the summer if i lived there, but i do love it, but did not fancy any of the club sites so went off piste, perfect.

It’s simple really. July and August are the times we head eastwards if we go out.
It’s no good SORN-ing the car as public transport is to be avoided at all costs but, being local, we can pick our routes and times.👍🏻😀
Out of interest, where did you stay, Rufs?
