Well  they did offer an explanation of sorts, but not believable. How long ago as it that Ro closed the Snagging List post and said that we would be getting regular updates? Where are they, or have I missed something? They was a chappie from HO who did try to explain what they were trying to do and he'd keep us updated, but that was well before "the wee man left Paisley"!!

I don’t follow your logic there but let's settle for it being appallingly slow.

Just thinking about number of times that various sites have crashed due to amount of people trying to get on It happens with government sites

Nah, I think you'll find this is just down to ineffectual software, ie lack of hamsters.

Not being well up on this computting lark, so this suggestion may be bonkers, but here goes:-

As the site is so slow and getting slower perhaps the reason is that it cannot cope with all the old posts it holds. Why don't the powers that be remove some of the ealier post that are no longer relevant. General Chat has thousands of ancient ones. Couldn't they just leave those from the last couple of months. This would clear a lot of space.

When Justin was keeping us informed of the state of play, he said storage isn’t the issue. I forget what he said the problem was but apparently 3 million old threads/posts doesn’t cause the hiccups we experience.

    Whatever happened to Justin?

Wasn’t it something about Charles Babbage having designed the servers 😂and they were in urgent need of an upgrade. Which of course costs 💷💷

That was the chappie I was trying to think of in a recent post of mine. Yet another from HO who has disappeared over the horizon, like many before him😊

im getting the 'internal server error' message when trying to access the 'site protocol' thread.

if booking customers were getting this sort of message umpteen times a day it would be resolved pretty darn quickly!

probably shows where CT sits in the portfolio of systems....

At least he took the trouble to communicate with us. Unfortunately, he got beaten with a big stick by some so perhaps it's not surprising he gave up.

When the Forum had it's last major upgrade (if anyone can remember that!) They did delete many messages. On any section if you flick through the the earlier posts you will find that a thread from when the forum first started is still there but any subsequent posts have been removed. Text files are usually quite miniscule in size the issue which takes up server time is when people start to access them! Pictures in posts and stories could be more of an issue perhaps. I am pretty sure that the way to improve the performance of the forum is to separate it from the main website so its not always in competition with it. The site booking side of the website will always take priority. I appreciate that the Club could throw serious money at the problem but would that be justified?

That’s always the way with some, bleat for the lack of communication then attack the communicator when someone does offer updates, then they bleat again-self defeating☹️🤷🏻‍♂️

Had you ever considered my post was a generalisation?, there are many posters who get annoyed at the C&MC systems but attacking/abusing someone who tries to help is neither clever nor fair & is also self defeating. When I’m posting to you specifically I’ll use your name, if I don’t then it’s a generalisation aimed at the many. To quote someone-‘stress not it’s only a forum’. Enjoy your day🙂👍🏻.

Can't remember how many of mine disappeared, quite a few I'd guess. Have a number to write, waiting for a wet day when I stay in and then get down to it. As each one takes me ages to compose it's quite time consuming, no two short platitudes from me.😀

I thought the fact the site went down for maintenance at 9pm last night might mean they were releasing July 22 on the 1st. However, no sign of that, just site as slow as ever and multiple error messages on latest activity.☹️

Yes whatever was done appears not to have included CT or if it did it hasn't helped 😤🤐

I clicked latest activity page, the way I come into CT, clicked on your post 'read more' which used to being me straight to said post not this morning! Opening page of the discussion, find it yourself.......

It really is an amazing forum 😉

EditI used the same method of entry on another discussion and it took me to the post unbelievable!

2nd edit forgot to mention all the server errors before getting the latest activity page to open......
