There has been a post set up near Chew Valley lake for a few years but no takers so far.
Nearest is Clwydog reservoir.

BM, these are from the Osprey sighting forum today, with other sightings in previous days, so there may be a chance that the nest will be occupied this year.

Hi NTH
There were reports yesterday of up to three Ospreys and a White Tailed Eagle over at Chew Valley Resevoir, which was enough to tempt me in to the great outdoors for a rare excursion for many months.
No sign of the Eagle, but the Osprey did show quite well even taking a small fish within view, but to far for a photograph.
Attached is the best I could manage.

Great stuff, BM, love the photo! Pity you didn't catch sight of the Eagle. Fingers crossed that a pair will settle on the nest platform and rear some chicks.
I see that there was a sighting this morning at Herons Green Bay, and at lunchtime at Herriott's Bridge.
We think we might get down that way later in the year, but perhaps they will have flown by then even if they pair up and breed.

I see that Maya, the female at Manton Bay, Rutland, laid her 3rd egg of this year yesterday. The female of the pairs at both Foulshaw Moss and Loch of the Lowes should be due to lay their first eggs any day now, if they follow a similar timetable after arrival as those at MB.

Thanks NTH
If you check the Avon Birds site, there are a couple of links to facebook sites showing this bird catching a small fish. Taken this morning at Herriots (where mine was taken). The opinion of those around was that there were still two around.

The first of The Welsh nests to have an egg laid this year happen at Glaslyn today.

And today saw the arrival of the first Osprey egg octave year in a Scottish nest, at the RSPB reserve at the Loch of the Lowe's.
This should make you jealous Brian, but can of course view some of the videos of the pair here :- https://community.rspb.org.uk/placestovisit/lochgartenospreys/f/loch-garten-ospreys/276436/loch-of-the-lowes---april-2021#pifragment-4292=30

There have been numerous eggs laid by Ospreys on observed nests over the last couple of days.
To cheer Brian up there are reports of a couple of Ospreys investigating the Loch Garten next site!!😁 Hope they pair up and occupy the nest this year.

Lots of eggs being laid now including 3 at Dyfi, Glaslyn, L of the L, one of the Kielder nests, Manton Bay and Foulshaw. There's also a new pair on the nest at Llyn Brenig so there's a possible chance of eggs there too this year.
Fingers crossed that they all hatch and the chicks are fledged successfully.

BM the Osprey seems to still be hanging about at Chew Valley, but no report of a nest being occupied.
Brian, it looks as if the new pair at Loch Garten are getting along fine, and there is still a prospect of them becoming parents this year. For the moment they've been named Axel and Mistle by the web site watchers, but that could change it the wardens at LG select others names.

This is the link from BBC Wales.
Hope they are able to catch the imbeciles, and put them away for a long, long time. This is the second year on the trot that there has been outside disturbance to the nesting pair. This year's pair are both new to the area and it could well have been the first time that they had paired up and mated.

It shocked me as well. Although I enjoy an occasional look in on bird web cams I wonder if it helps in the long run? Perhaps these sites need more protection than we think. Very sad, I hope the perpetrators are caught, their boat was recorded on the Cam.

Social media are suggesting it’s vested interests, they’re destroying the natural predation to ensure the Human predation can continue. On the upside some(in Wales) are saying the Police are already being given names. It may not help the mated Ospreys but can help for their future-hopefully👍🏻

It’s just odd the way some quarters are regularly railing at rewilding then this happens. I can see why the Welsh animal lovers are upset🤷🏻♂️. Plus Fish I can see why your countrymen are linking the dislike for a bird that is supreme at fishing with Humans that are not good at it at all being upset by the Ospreys becoming a permanent feature. I personally know nothing of the facts but when they are caught it’ll be interesting to see the actual facts👍🏻👏🏻👏🏻

I dont know anyone that begrudges these birds a few fish, certainly not the fishermen I know. As someone who has watched them over decades they are not that good at the fishing. I guess they may be lucky once in 3 or 4 dives to make a kill.

You don’t need to guess Fish they are successful 50% of the time👍🏻. Add to that a growing family that will deplete stocks. I’m not an expert but those that are have already realised the criminals were not after any eggs or young. This was to stop the Ospreys & make them move on. The uproar will invoke a response & we’ll see who these hate filled idiots are. My money is on it not being the supporters & advocates of rewilding.

Rocky- have you watched these birds fishing. I have for over a decade here on a stocked trout water and they are not as good as you suggest. But hey if knowledge comes from doctored TV shows then OK, not quite like actual seeing. Ask Iolo what his opinion is. The Brenig nest was in shallow water just off the reservoir side, again a stocked reservoir with a good head of fish.
