England Cricket

As exciting as the first Test was, this second is so painful to watch. As I write India currently lead by 358 with 4 wickets left. Is Kohli wanting to beat us by a world record score?
I read an article yesterday which suggested the pitch was not up to Test standards and was akin to beach cricket! Well the tide is certainly coming in towards a huge loss here, but at least the spectators (remember them?) are enjoying it, especially those on the beach 😂🏏

Ah Well, Struggling to think what to say, without getting the entire Forum closed down that is !!
Heard on Ch 4 that a recent ex-England skipper decried the pitch, like playing on a road he said ! (Well Ashwin was making it look very easy)
Did " PitchesRUS " creep in during the between innings break and do a swift refurbishment I ask myself ?
At least I won't have to fret about disturbed sleep to-night

That ruddy 'blob' has been catching my eyeline all through this coverage and obviously it's affecting our batsmen now too!
Not been a great few days watching our national teams at cricket and rugby, but onwards and upwards. (My rugby shirt is now in the laundry, hopefully it'll wash away poor performances)
8 days to recover and not set the alarm.

Is there any chance of an earthquake, please, please, Pretty please ??
Browsing around during this 'ere meal break I re-read the Original Post on here, only thing I would change today is the removal of the word " WEST " ~~ seems I was a mite smarter when I wrote it, snivel, sniff, sob, sob, sob.

Is that an 'earthquake enhancer' the ground staff are currently battering the popping crease with??!!
I'm confused with the names of the breaks too: teatime dinner or dinner at tea time, not to mention supper and when's breakfast?? Test match cricket used to be so simple and someone also forgot to put rupees in the electric meter.
With a pitch which is turning more than a turntable on day one, will England rue the omission of at least one additional spinner - particularly when the 'tail' are now only worth a dozen runs?

Just seen Jack Leach 'turn' one -- took off at about 50* to the horizontal AND vertical ~~ scary !!
They thought that having three keepers** and one spinner ( + Root ) is the same as having one keeper and three frontline spinners -- WRONG again !!
** Three keepers -- Pope, Bairstow & Foakes
P.S. -- No, JR, it's just a flat Indian version of the Road Menders 'punner' Honest

I'm glad Pope isn't keeping wicket after seeing him down Kohli off Anderson in the slips, the 'extras' column would be gigantic! What a dolly and he drops it!
Thankfully Kohli did the job for us a couple of overs later, playing on.
Indians very much on top, intriguing day tomorrow ☺️

Kohli didn't last tho, JR, nor did Rahane and Rohit has just gone as well~~ L B W to Leach -- hit on his lower right hand rib cage trying to send the ball to Aston Juxta Mondrum ** for a 6 !! ( i.e. a dgb slog to cow corner !! ) And Root 'roots out' Mr R Pant with his first ball today !

I'm sorry but that pitch wasn't fit for a Sunday league team to play on.
When Joe Root takes 5-8 against the best batting side in the world on their home ground you know that a mouse has more chance against a Cobra than Englands fragile batting against spinners of the quality that India have.
It was a disgrace and maybe England would have lost anyway but this sort of match does nothing to enhance Test Match credentials unlike the first test.

Oh dear, WN, The Indians etc probably think along those lines when they face an 'English' seam packed side on a Headingly green 'un !
We were, mainly, astounded by the selection of so many pace / seam bowlers when they could barely make six overs each without calling for iced rub-downs all round Still we will see if they have learned anything at all by Start of Play on the same ground next Wednesday at 04:00 am GMT . But Brian is not too enthusiastic / optimistic sniffle sniff

Ah but India have had the experience of having some of their talent over here playing county cricket Brian. I mean, Kapil Dev wasn't too shabby as a fast 'un was he?
And as for Ice Cube rub downs, I have a need after visiting Tesco every week, even in the depths of winter.

We've sent Moeen home to recover after one game, but he was "Bought" for £ 700,000** in the Selection Process for the Indian Premier League, their version of the Big Bash, so they don't think he's that bad on Indian tracks !
** something like70 million Rupees I understand

Now I notice that Chris Woakes has been sent home as part of the " Rotational Policy " of the England Cricket touring party -- utterly bonkers** , having toured with them all winter and not got a game at all.
** notice that for self control if you please !!

Control yourself Brian
There seems to be plenty of "bonkers" decisions made recently. Perhaps wearing these masks is starving us of vital oxygen and "fodder for us 'eads?" Who knows? Life in general just seems barmy at the moment. Last weekend, I sat on the sofa and tried to tune in to the crikkit!!

Brian , the synic in me thinks Moeen Ali just wants to cherry pick which England games he attends .He goes home after one test for the benefit of his mental health and to spend time with his family ,but the minute the IPL comes calling he appears happy to be away for a couple of months !!. Personally I think the ECB should remove his central contract and give the young up and coming spinners more game time . They are England's future .🏏🏏.
