I checked the NHS site today and it now says that if you are over 65 or classed as Clinically very vulnerable (compromised immune system etc) you can book your vaccination appointments.
I have just booked my husbands.

Hi Ann, As I said I have now booked for myself. Did you simply check the website or did something prompt you?
Only asking as I know a few that fall into the 65+ age group that are, as I was, waiting for their invite.
As the location is 29 miles, and near an hours drive, away we have saved in both cost and time however, the downside is that we now have two less ‘escape days’ to look forward to!

Also my thanks Ann. I was told this and checked NHS links and they said you needed to have the letter. They are still there, clearly a bit like the CC, they don’t bother removing old links.
OH received her letter yesterday, not had mine yet although being only a few months different. Now we can book both together and minimise travel.👍

The Australian state of Victoria has entered a five-day lockdown as the authorities race to suppress an outbreak of the UK strain of the virus.
At least 14 cases have been confirmed, and they are thought to all stem from a quarantine worker who became infected at a Melbourne hotel.
International flights to the city will be stopped during the lockdown. The Australian Open tennis tournament, however, will continue in the city without spectators.

A returnee with Covid-19 who was in an Auckland hospital has died, the Ministry of Health says.
It comes as two new Covid-19 cases are reported in New Zealand. Both cases were found in managed isolation.
The patient who died was transferred to North Shore Hospital from a managed isolation facility for treatment of a non-Covid related illness on February 5.
While in hospital, they returned a positive Covid-19 result. They died on Friday evening.
They arrived from Zambia via the United Arab Emirates on February 2.
While in hospital, their routine Covid-19 test came back positive.
The ministry said Covid-19 infection and prevention protocols were in place and followed to ensure the safety of health care workers and the public.
There was no risk to the public, and the ministry advised that hospitals were still safe to visit.
Waitematā District Health Board referred all queries to the Ministry of Health.
The ministry said the patient's death had not yet been included in its official Covid-related deaths at this time.
Further information would be provided about this on Monday.
New Zealand's official number of deaths from Covid-19 currently stands at 25.
The two new cases announced on Saturday both arrived from India via the United Arab Emirates on February 9.
They tested positive after having their first test and are in an Auckland facility.
One previously reported case has now recovered, bringing New Zealand's total active case numbers to 45.
The total number of confirmed Covid-19 cases is 1972.
On Friday morning, Prime Minister Jacinda Ardern announced the first batch of the Pfizer Covid-19 vaccine will arrive next week.
Vaccination of border workers is expected to start next Saturday.
Ardern said the Government expects to vaccinate the 12,000-strong workforce within two to three weeks.
Once they are vaccinated, household contacts of borders workers will be next.
The general population is expected to begin receiving vaccinations in the second half of the year.
It certainly is a nasty little blighter. Sorry all the above, except the 1st paragraph should be bold but it won't work...
Best to stay put and safe. I don't think our quarantine is going to be stringent enough 😪
Edit I've read that room in isolation had 5 folk in it and used nebuliser. Its not good in anyway shape or form.

It was the first link I came across JVB, I presume other reports were similar. It's interesting what's going on in other countries regarding the vaccine. Canada has messed up their vaccine orders and surprisingly are only just developing a manufacturing base so have been dependent on imports. They originally thought Trump would block orders from the USA (which at the time probably was a possibility) so now they are behind on getting the vaccines done.

Thanks Ann, I noticed that. My letter came today anyway. However, when I went online to book, the final tick box was had I received a letter and would I be bringing it. As I had received one I ticked it. No idea if it would have accepted the booking if I hadn’t. I think the problem is they have adjusted the criteria but not followed through with everything else.
Edit. Within seconds of making the booking texts and emails came through. One for the first jab this afternoon, the other for the follow up on the 2nd May. Only slight revision of our May Tour required, as we should have been leaving on the 1st. That’s if Nicola lets us into Scotland.😂

No-one asked to see our letters Steve, our surgery called us to book appointments at a local centre. We had our letters a few days later, our appointments were checked on line at the centre. Even though we had different times booked we went through together and sat together to have the jabs. In our case no second appointments till we hear from them again.

We have got into the habit over the years of printing everything off when it comes to appointments medical related. The booking confirmations have a booking number which along with your name they use when they book you in. I would have thought name was the most useful bit of information but if it happens to be a common surname they might need the booking reference. When you book via a surgery they don't issue a booking number because they know you as one of their patients.

There are clearly quite different arrangements across the UK but, using the NHS booking website, you need your DOB & NHS number.
When you book you are given a 7 figure reference number.
All our 4 appointments are confirmed and I will be taking the booking reference only, written down just in case, and my phone with the email.

We received a text to say we could book ,which we did immediately , ad were given dates for our first and second injections ,and advised to not arrive earlier than 5mins beforehand, a couple of days later we received a letter confirming with consent forms to fill and take with us , we both went in together for our vacines OH on a chair me standing ,did a Lidl shop (nextdoor)came home and booked some sites in hope
, to get back the day before next jab

Spoke to someone at surgery this morning to see if there was anything on my file that hadn't been communicated to me and lo and behold there was a scribbled telephone message from Kidney Consultant saying it would be fine. Looks like someone must have thought that I had been told by Consultants. Left and Right hand thingy.
Whilst on the phone they offered me an appointment for tomorrow morning so it was a productive phone call.

Brilliant. The only way to know what's going on is to be in charge 🤣 and continually be on the case!
I know GP's surgeries are busy places at the best of times but theres nothing wrong with being informed twice rather than not at al.........
I Googled autoimmune and the vaccine, there seems to be no contraindicationsI think I should be ok but will mention it.

I think AnnB mentioned that her husband has autoimmune problems and got an appointment for him but I've come to realise that there are so many variants of diseases, not just C19, that it's best not to rely on what others have done but find out for yourself. Good luck Bakers.

Back from having our AZ jabs. All very efficient, in and out in 25 minutes. Carried out in the old Wickes store in town. An NHS nurse took details, presumably because she was accessing our records on her computer. We were then transferred to a fireman (paramedic) who did the injections.
We did get a sticker.😀

It appears that coronavirus is a remarkably agile infection and mutations could be with us for the foreseeable future. Back in the days when infectious disease were rife each town had an isolation hospital, then it was the only solution available for protection of the greater population. Probably prohibitively costly now but it does seem that worldwide little provision had been set aside for the inevitable?
