It could depend on what medication is prescribed. I have been getting annual check ups to reauthorise my repeat prescriptions for the last 20 years. Last year was a bit different though, the blood tests were delayed a month as the hospital wasn't doing routine tests and the second consultation to review the results was done over the phone. All was done with the practice nurse, it's very rare you get to speak to a doctor.

My prescription is all done on line now delivered by Royal Mail 48hr tracked post (no signiture req) and it is packed in letter box size boxes,
1 email from Echo pharmacy advising to order via email
2 when ordered Echo contact GP to issue prescription
3 second email to advise prescription recieved and processed
4 email to say dispatched
5 email from Royal mail advising of del day and approx time
When review is needed Echo also advise me by email for next order ,and I just give surgery a call to have phone consultation ,and blood tests arranged no paper work ,just turn up at my conveniance at local urgent care center/clinic give name and address and wait to be called

At the moment things only work as long as no-one in the chain has Covid. Our surgery was closed due Covid, the prescription delivery service stopped due to Covid. I just hope the vaccination centres stay Covid free!
And one day my phone will accept the word Covid instead it wants to change to Livid, Coco or David...

OH received a text this morning asking her to book a vaccination on line, with link supplied. Logged in and was given a choose of 3 appointments at our new local health clinic, not our surgery, and after accepting the first one she received a confirmation text. Oh so simple.

Good news! Sounds very simple to arrange.
We're still waiting, but neither of us are in the "top 3". However, I've had a look at our surgery's website, and it appears that 6 local GP practices are working together to administer the vaccine at 1 central practice. All patients from those 6 practices will have to go there.
OH spoke to an ex-colleague who is 82, he's had his 1st one and has an appointment for his 2nd one for the 12th of January, as has his partner. We wonder whether the 2nd one will go ahead or be postponed in view of the recent change in policy. Time will tell.

That's the same with our practice. Appear to be an extremely sensible arrangement.

Nellie & Inad, I'll be hoping for a very early phone call tomorrow then 'cos camper is in for M O T & micro service { done very few miles this year
} and the Garage is only 150 yards from surgery so that would sort yours truly out very nicely { if only 
}.Nothing wrong with hoping though, is there

I know the media like to highlight inadequacy. However, from what I have been reading we do seem to be dreadfully unprepared for this mass vaccination program, especially give the fact we have known it was comming for some time. So now we have the old blame game, with government saying it's vaccine supply and the suppliers saying it's down to administration .

Don't really understand some of these comments. The UK was the first country in the world to start giving an approved vaccine (two now) and have already given it to millions of people and are well ahead of other European countries who have only administered a few hundred thousand doses.

I never recall ever having a medication review. I see my doctor, he takes my BP and says that is good, I say can I stop or reduce my medication and he says no, end of story really!!!! I get my repeats every 10 weeks (three month supply) and it is never questioned.

We are in our mid-80s. Yesterday we both received a ‘no reply’ message on our mobile phones, telling us that the vaccine programme for the UK has started. That we will be contacted when there is a time and date for us to attend, but “DO NOT contact us until you are contacted.” I imagine everyone who reads the news is already aware that vaccinations have started, so what was the point of this message, apart from being told that they know we are here? To date, we don’t have any idea where will have to go for our vaccinations - there have been rumours that are vaccination unit is to be set up on Leicestershire Race Course. Frankly, I am a little sceptical about “millions” having been vaccinated in the UK. 2 million would cover that comment, and this would barely cover NHS staff and care home residents. So the wider population are still as vulnerable as ever. Looking at things practically, we don’t expect to be vaccinated any time soon - this is logistically a massive operation - and the plans to move the 3-week repeat jab to a “within 12 weeks” is an indication that problems in meeting the demand still exist.

We had similar this winter for our flu jabs, all the over 65s were done in one place (the town hall) and the others were done at their GP surgery.
I usually get called annually for blood tests and review of meds, usually January, waiting to see what will happen this year.

Probably to stop enquires by reinsuring you that you are in the system

Just learnt today that MK Hospital is now accepting vaccine bookings from age group 75 and above. We are both just under that so hopefully we won't have long to wait?
