Anyway I see France has put curfews in place and in certain cities you are not allowed out between 9pm and 6am!

So the Welsh are manning Offa's dike again after all these years - and understandably so. It might yet come to Tinwheeler, Seaside Bill, Jamsdad, other Cornish forum friends, and me , patrolling the bridges over the Tamar to repel the English. Dad's Army indeed.
And I have just heard that my very oldest friend who went to school with me when we were four years old has sadly died.

Condolences EuroT. Was the friend up here in the North?
We have a freezer arriving tomorrow, need more space for Winter stocks. We like to make our own bread, soups, other meals, so it makes sense. That way can easily have a night off cooking when we feel like it, but without resorting to bought in meals.
Keep Cornwall safe and snug for us you lot down there. Returning in better times is our goal when things get a lot better. 👍

Back from Buxton CAMC site yesterday and the site seems really well organised, Covid-wise. However, I think High Peak is under threat of going into level 3 (the same as Liverpool) 😥😥
Off to hospital today for a MRI scan - absolutely hate them!! Just hope that I don't pick up anything nasty at UHCW (Coventry)!! I'll be well armed with so much hand sanitizer, several masks, and a large 2 metre rule... 😀😀😀 I'll let you know how well they do the Covid secure thing!

I think some of the Councils are asking for level three to be honest. They can cope better. Far too lenient in Tier two.

Of course it does, and so it should. I think the vast majority of folks are just despairing of all the vacillation and uncertainty to be honest. Businesses and households cannot plan, function, budget, try and take care of themselves if the goalposts are on elastic. It’s not good for anyone. It’s gone on for months now, since June, (that’s the dithering around, not the virus I mean) and no end in sight.

I work in an Airport and witness day to day people that On return to the UK are required to complete a passenger health locator form providing details of where the passenger has been and where they will self isolate if required.
Staff are bombarded with comments such as I don’t have CV why should I do it, I did a form in Greece why should I do one now?
The very real truth is as your member points out here, although you are taking precautions many around you may not have and the people you come in contact with en route such as services could also be a concern or in my example above those free of CV have flown in a confined space full of passengers that may have symptoms and as such and despite your efforts, place you at risk
There are many online providers of good information regarding which areas are considered to be in which category, the BBC being one of them
I don’t think there is any need for a moral v legal debate here , the key to keeping safe is using common sense approach research to your trip
we have had our cruise cancelled and it is a huge disappointment after looking forward to it for so long but it is what it is and we are where we are Let’s work together to fight this and consider others that may be at risk by planning our trips away There should always be a plan B
Social distancing can be maintained relatively well using your own showers and toilets facilities but check before you travel as whether sites are open and what facilities are available4 -
We are lucky that we don't have borders that repel one another, I hope none of your services are ever needed on the Tamar!
To be fair to the Welsh government the health minister did point out that visitors from England that live in low infection rate areas such as the South West are welcome to take a holiday in those areas such as Pembrokeshire that are still open for tourists. So not all of Wales is closed and not all of the non Welsh residents will be banned.
Still yet to see the meat on the bones about how they intend to do this.

In answer to JV’s last post, I was under the impression that the majority of folks in this country (a very slim majority) had decided it wasn’t that interested in what others countries decided, implemented, carried out, and had elected a Govt on the basis of heading in this direction. Going it alone so to speak🤷♀️
In terms of taxation, a good start might be to ensure that some of the very big organisations did indeed pay their taxes owed. Then ensure that all these contracts awarded to private companies are subject to decent scrutiny, and not just to “chums” and Party donors (nice little earner currently ongoing for experts on up to £3000 per day trying to advise on current track and trace), who are handed multi million pound contracts without due diligence. I can think of an individual recently found out not paying his second home taxes as well, one of many I don’t doubt.
I wouldn’t object to paying a bit more tax if I knew it was reaching where it could do the most good, for the most people. But I’m not going to be happy adding to the lifestyle of some shareholders or for politicians promoted to positions of power beyond their capabilities.😡

That’s a very divisive comment JV. Totally unfair and out of order. All you demonstrate is a total lack of understanding beyond your cosy new town environment, and your cocoon of a pension. Next time you get the chance, go visit your GD up in Nottingham, and take a look around some of the less affluent areas, get an idea of some of the challenges facing a lot of local residents there. Vast majority don’t want to live in poor housing, overcrowded conditions etc..... some don’t have a choice.

I was jesting about the Tamar border. Earlier in the covid outbreak we saw errant travellers being sent home with the vast majority conforming. Sometimes I wish, in these circumstances, that the conformists got more praise but some things sell news more easily!

As we do not live in a "New Town" and have a low but rising infection rate, and it seems by the area most "at risk" being where the Uni has its "halls"
Talking (it works) to the local councilors we have a very high percentage of residents who are claiming benifits and also unable to move out from their parents houses into there own properties because of the very long and points system waiting list for housing
why would it be devisive?
your previous comment about my other post earlier is one that those who try to lay blame where if being realistic, is what some do not want to hear when they think blame only lays nearer to "home" whereas it is a worldwide problem that all those "in charge?" are desperately trying find a way out
