Just reading about possible further Covid restrictions and even another lockdown. We are staying in Wensleydale at present and we have just driven through Hawes thinking I’ll pop into the Spar shop as we needed milk. Wow, what a sight 😱🤨! Covid restrictions are totally ignored in Hawes, in fact it seemed busier than usual to us, absolutely rammed to the gunnels with bikers and other people in close proximity. Totally irresponsible behaviour, so if anyone moans about another lockdown.......!!!! Needless to say we drove on and have to manage without the milk for now.

Our cases are creeping up but uni back so folks from out of area and further afield could have bought it in?
Just ordered couple of items from M&S qualified for free delivery but thought I'd collect - I hope I dont regret that decision 😱. Especially as I've just read BBC headlines. Mind you crank up the hype and then criticise mental health care 🤐
Certainly seems that the examples of food parcels shared online are not designed for healthy eating! My mum used to say to our son 14 years ago about pot noodles being staple diet - he told her he didn't know any student who ate them and he cooked properly for himself. In fact in their self catering, 6 share kitchen, they had a celebrate meal for Eid and Christmas where they all collaberarated.
I agree with takethedogalong re one pot cooking and deliveries but then you have to get a slot......... hopefully the nearest parent could do an initial drop off? I think the planning and forethought by our 'leaders'and the uni's leave much to be desired 😡🤬

Not just Hawes, we are in Scarborough.
Took a run through to Bridlington today. Can't believe how busy it was, you would have thought it was the height of summer not mid October.
Very few masks being worn, no social distancing going on. The fun fair in full swing with very little evidence of sanitizing going on between customers.
And they wonder why their areas are having spikes.

Its Sunday. Both those locations, Hawes and Bridlington attract huge influx of day trippers, bikers from all over on Sundays. So not altogether about the locals not doing as they should. But I do agree that many simply aren’t.
Decision makers need to get a grip, it is becoming worse out there. Almost as if too many simply don’t care, all ages☹️

That wasn't obvious from your comments on Fish's post. It's obvious that the northern mayors have a political agenda, they wouldn't be in the position that they are if they weren't politically minded. Looking at tonight's news of the actions of those citizens out on the streets last night in large groups one can plainly see where the problems lie. The ones that will ultimate bear the brunt of the cost of call this is the general public, the majority of whom have respected the directions, advice etc.

Spot on, LLM. That's how I got my degree, while working full time too. No computer either for the first couple of courses either, just learning from written material.

+1. Totally agree. We have done what we should have done all the way along since March. But others seem to think it's ok to carry on as normal, and because we're in a certain age group, as a result we could be told to stay at home again. It's so easy to criticise what has and hasn't been done, what should have been done and when it should have been done, but no matter what measures are put in place, if people are going to ignore them, then what chance have we got?

In Merseyside, alongside the closure of pubs and restaurants, travel will be limited into and out of the area for school, work, or transit only.
People from outside Merseyside will not be allowed to stay overnight, but it is expected that leisure facilities can stay open.Under Tier 2 restrictions, people are likely to be discouraged to travel, and only one household or one bubble is expected to be allowed to meet indoors.

Absolutely. I am more interested in knowing what proper resources are going to be in place to ensure all the rhetoric works as it should. It’s no secret that where pubs and other places have been closed, all those determined to have a night out simply go outside the closure zone🤷♀️
Who is going to check all the hundreds of routes out of the area🤷♀️

Agree JVB it has all got far to political. However, personally I can't see anything short of a total lockdown having much affect. There are far to many willing to flaunt the regulations, which are only likely to be guidance when it comes to travel restrictions. We just don't have the means to police it in this country, so it all comes down to folk acting responsibly. Unfortunately I fear there are now enough that won't, to make likely measures ineffective.

I feel its now too late. The second wave is here and out of control. Too much blaming everyone else with no one taking personal responsibility. Politics has taken over with the Labour North trying to re establish its credentials. Too many leaders from Cummings through to the latest MP blatantly breaking the rules and not accepting their responsibility. It is quire simple really. Keep your distance, dont mix, particularly indoors. Who cant understand that.

This is sobering, it is not only worse it is accelerating at speed. These figures written are lives of people who are loved mourned & missed. I sometimes wish I had the attitude of those who really don’t see the deaths & suffering as real-

+ 48/31% in the 7 day average is both shocking and frightening. A sure indicator that we're either not handling the situation well or not obeying the rules. It's time to get tough.
