True, but not in any sense comparable to the transient flitting here,  there and everywhere at the drop of a hat or the sort of mass "social gatherings" I was referring to as I suspect you well realise. frown

Lets stop passing the blame, looking for anomalies etc. Those who break the rules are guilty and should be treated as such with harsh penalties not the softly softly approach. That idea has shown itself to be useless in todays society.

The Isle of Man had the right solution, contractors from England had permission for entry providing they went straight to their accommodation from the ferry and travelled solely between there and the place of work. That would serve their 14 days isolation requirement.

They were caught in the Supermarket after getting off the ferry, so arrested and jailed for their 14 days.

Why do quite a few people enter supermarkets with the mask covering their mouth but not their nose?  This also applies to some supermarket staff.

Unfortunately the supermarkets ignore this shortcomings as money is more important and do not reprimand customers or staff as basically the law is being followed .

If the law is being followed as you state, then it would be difficult for the store to reprimand them for it.

Because if you wear glasses it steams them up. If you have mask over your nose with glasses on the outside of mask then your glasses are out of focus and you can’t see proper. That makes it dangerous as you can easily bump Into items and people or even worse trip up over something due to not seeing proper

Maybe these new mesh masks which appear to be fashionable now would solve this problem.

well at least we are not alone with all this covid madness, in France first Marseille, all pubs bars and clubs closed, now ditto in Paris, london next ?undecided

Had my flu jab administered this morning by a nice Pharmacist who informed me she had just returned from Tanzania where she said they had very very few cases of covid and very few deaths so i thought i would look up as to what was going on, i found this

"The country stopped reporting cases of COVID-19 on April 29 with 509 infections at the time. But a few weeks ago, President Magufuli declared the pandemic in Tanzania officially over and said people should resume normal lives without even having to wear facemasks.

He said God had solved the issue with a divine intervention after national prayers. "Corona cannot survive in the body of Christ; it will burn,” the president had said."

this was on the 20th July, if the pharmacist was right and that corvid had been almost erradicated , then maybe the president was right undecided

are we waiting for the second "cummin" to test the theory ?

We are at number 11 in the World, number 5 in Europe, Sweden is number 14 in the World,  number 7  in Europe, with about 50 fewer deaths per million than UK  at present.

So in your view there is not much point in wearing a mask as you breathe in through your nose.  Both of us wear specs and do not have an issue with our specs misting up and we cover our noses as we want to act responsibly and do not want to infect any one else.  try the suggestions made above to prevent misting of your specs.  laughing

Good news from the US where reports suggest that a 74 year old clinically obese male is well on the road to recovery from coronavirus after just 48 hours hospitalisation. So there's hope for us all! undecided

We made several face coverings from cotton fabric, finely woven but not too thick.
I wear my glasses outside of the face covering and find they only steam  up a little and soon clear, but I have never found that I could not focus through them.

A covering that does not also cover the nose leaves you wide-open to breathing in any nasties around!

I have the same problem and I think as the weather gets colder the problem with steamed up glasses will be worse unfortunately. I tend to wear the medical type masks in situations that are more risky like indoor shopping and keep the fabric ones for less risky situations. The medically approved masks offer about 33% protection, better than nothing I suppose?!

The medical type with that flexible top bar allow me to fit the mask snuggly to my face under my glasses and that results in no steaming up👍🏻

Apparently it's all down to Neanderthals and whether you have Neanderthal DNA which most Europeans do but most Africans don't or have very little. So whilst Mr President might be spinning a yarn it is possible that there is more than  a  grain of truth in what he is saying. The theory goes that those with a higher register of Neanderthal DNA are more prone you are to COVID 19. There have been studies to work out why some people get it worse or a more mild dose when from a health perspective they seem very similar.

I have noticed in this area more people are wearing full face visors rather than masks  and there are some that fit like glasses that can be worn with glasses

I guess it must be down to which piece online we choose to read🤷🏻‍♂️. I read the per capita lists. They divide the population of a country by their covid Deaths. I thought that was the most accurate & eminently checkable. That way a small population are not classed as less or more successful in their covid fight.

I use the surgical ones and if over my nose the glasses don’t steam up. The problem is when I put my glasses on over the face mask they are further away from my eyes and don’t focus properly causing my vision to be blared.

Mmmm, not really-it’s basic mathematics tbh🤷🏻‍♂️, if you can do the maths then whoever you are you will all come to the same result, the difficulty is finding an honest source that are not working to an agenda👍🏻
