well we were away for the whole of September and had a glorious month, and despite my reservations re going, I am glad we took the plunge, but it is very strange when you are trying to avoid people all the time. but hey ho, now know what it is like to be in the front line so to speak, SIL who is a doctor tested positive on Tuesday, we were with them briefly on Saturday so now we are all self isolating for 2 weeks, happy days
so far he only has hacking cough and high temp so hopefully he will be ok 0 -
We never go home. September was glorious, we even went swimming. We didn’t expect this much rain over here in East Anglia in October but we aren’t bored.

We were disappointed for MiL that this weeks jaunt to a cottage near Harrogate had to be cancelled due to local lockdown and travel restrictions applying in Wales but myself and Mrs WN quietly pleased as we have seen the infection rates around the immediate area of Harrogate, particularly as money refunded the day after cancellation.
We'll sort something out in due course.

Ditto...the sea pool at Bude was glorious even if a tad cold,but well worth the effort
i remember once when the kids were small we all crammed into a local bakery in Devon to warm up and try to dry some of our clothes off whilst they were giving a demonstration on how to make oggies. We were in a static that was damp and cold and very little by way of heating.

You never really know what you might get where in UK. In twenty odd years, I can only recall one memorably bad Cornish holiday. We used to do a month in Summer, so it was a long haul if the weather set in really bad. That Summer, we actually went and bought a small TV, something we never usually carry.
Wales has been rough last couple of times away. Dartmoor, you just go with it. One Summer we swam in rivers it was so hot, last Summer we never had a single day without a torrential downpour. We did an afternoon in Cornwall with friends under blue skies, but that was it😂
Everyone waxes lyrical about the beauty of the Lakes, which I am sure must be lovely, but the last time I was there, as a schoolchild, was the last time I saw anything other than mist and rain. We simply never go, it puts off the disappointment🤣
Greek storms are interesting. Being on a ship in the middle of one ended my burgeoning love affair with cruising🤢

In the 1990's we were tenters - a small two man tent and a Mini Cooper. It was quick and easy to get away (we kept a crate ready packed) and had some wonderful times.
But, one year we were in Mid Wales (C&CC site) and it rained non stop. There were no views if we went out, and no where to sit out of the rain except for tiny stools in the tent door way. We lasted 5 days, then when it was the same the next morning we threw every thing into the car and headed off to a Little Chef in Builth Wells for breakfast, and home. After that we went back to caravanning.

Fair comment, but we all have something nearby to upset the local scenery, be it an airport, a concrete dual carriageways more motorways or many other reservoirs dotted around such as Ladybower or Derwent Dams etc. Signing out now, esp as this has nothing to do with Covid Madness, just Madness.

We did pop into Whitby on a recent camping trip to the area.
We stayed for very short time. It was extremely busy, and by no stretch of the imagination could it be regarded as safe.
We had a great few days walking along the coast path. That was not busy!
But Whitby is one to avoid right now.0 -
Fisherman..............there is an ancient law in Hereford that permits a Welshman to be shot with a Bow & Arrow ,if caught within the city walls after 12 a.m
....fact !, check it out We don,t do it though, but we do house the sheep during those times

We're at Buxton CAMC site for a few days this week. They're all sorted out with Covid precautions. It's a really nice site. It's actually in a quarry, so it's quite sheltered, and in some respects has a little micro climate - it's certainly sheltered, although we didn't escape the rain today!

And Robin Hood's Bay was no different. Whilst we were at the NYM site, we thought we'd go have a wander on the beach, there - give Meg a romp and then have a coffee. No way - cold, drizzly day - end of September - and the place was heaving. Nowhere to park, both car parks were full - even the approach roads were chocka. We go there regularly and I've never seen it like that before. Took one look at it and left. Certainly did a lot of reading in the van, that week!

We are booked into Broadway next month for a week and then into Chatsworth in December for a week but are seriously thinking of cancelling both because of the way things are going at the moment,Luckily we had a week at Englethwaite Hall last week and that was an excellent site ,very enjoyable.But we will just see how things develope over the next week or so .

After the last few days briefings and the increases in Covid it must be irresponsible for anyone to make unnecessary journeys, put them selves inadvertently in crowded locations. Its bad enough if you have to say go shopping or other necessities Its the easiest way to overwhelm the NHS and other services. No doubt those who still will find someone else to blame.

I take it you're retired. There are still a lot of us that have to leave the house to go to work & some work in said supermarkets. Staying behind a locked front door isn't an option for everyone.
