Summer of 2019, the sun shone in Spain & France (a bit too much) and nobody had heard of CV19

Our kind of day. We used to canoe down River Fowey, both ways. Wildlife along river was fabulous, but somehow we always got the tides wrong, and ended up dragging canoe across the odd sandbank. But it all added to a great day out. The dogs came too of course, and we would pop overboard every now and then for a swim. Great times.....😁
Edit, crikey, glad I read this one back and edited. I had us “pooping” overboard, not “popping!😂

😂 I recall getting very badly sunburnt first time, reflection off water I think. Loved it though, we used to stop off and picnic in some lovely spots only accessible from river. We bought our own Canoe a few years ago, with idea of leaving it down in Cornwall in our van down there, but my caring duties interfered, and we ended up buying MH. Trying to get a 17ft very heavy canoe up onto roof just wasn’t feasible. We used it a few times on local rivers, but we sold it on last year, as it just wasn’t getting used enough. Jeep was too high for us to lift it as well. Great fun though, even if Captain Bligh upfront didn’t think I was paddling fast enough. We had a dog abandoned ship under bridge in Lostwithiel that took some retrieving I do recall. Sandwiches were a tad soggy that day🤣

Snakes......😬 I prefer not to know what’s in there with me. We saw some huge fish in Fowey, but they disappeared with all splashing about I did before getting in.
Another beautiful canoeing location was Craobh Haven up on Scottish West Coast. We didn’t swim there though🥶 But it was great with all the seals popping up alongside us. Didn’t risk the dogs there, they stayed in car for safety.
We bought a waterproof sac later, as the blinking dogs did soak everything through, one minute onboard, next minute diving for fish. A soggy Rottweiler and Airedale takes some hauling back aboard as well😂
I shall have to try and find some photos, quite a long time ago now, not loaded onto any device.
Found a photo of where we shot the rapids, tide is out though. Lostwithiel is very beautiful, got a Castle just upstream from here, I think it was the ancient capital town of Cornwall.

Camp site in Cheshire about 30 mins drive from home. Who needs to go abroad anyway? Unfortunately this was about 4 years ago. On same site now and watching the rain run down the windscreen (outside, not in).
