Well not quite..............but its very close!
The permutations of how this can affect people who are still working are numerous and my point is that I doubt the majority feel its like 'being on holiday', although the apparent adherence to the "its a BH so I must got to the beach" mantra might lead to to believe otherwise, and as for being handsomely paid........
One thing that's clearer now though is that,if you do wish to travel hundreds of miles to "be safe" , or as opticians are closed drive your car as a away ot testing your eyes both are now approved by No 10.

Hi, in the same way that I would not hesitate to go shopping or exercise I would not dream of getting on a bus.
The fact we don't have a bus service may be seen as a factor, but my point is that I would not put myself willingly into a situation where I cannot be pretty sure I can maintain distancing.
Neither would I wear a face mask, unless it became a legal requirement to do something I need to do, as the times I have seen people using them the wearers behaviours have ranged from ridiculous, in the open air with no one within a reasonable distance to dangerous, constantly adjusting them and in doing so touching the face.

While I was doing my Cinnamon Trust dog walking in a local park this morning an elderly couple were walking towards me with masks around their necks. We must have been 5 or 6 metres apart on separate paths. As they approached they both, simultaneously, pulled up their masks and spent several seconds fiddling around getting them in the right position. I passed them again at the opposite end of the park by which time they'd pulled them back down to their chins again. What is that all about?

I've just booked us a cottage in Grassington for the end of July - I'm now working on the assumption that there's little real chance of the ban on overnight stops in self contained accommodation being extended beyond the end of June. So the plan will be a short trip to the van in Cornwall to get everything sorted and a bit of maintenance done followed by this trip and then a longer spell in Cornwall in August - can't wait! 👍

My daughter was furloughed and was bored out of her mind. She was really pleased to go back to work last Friday. I am on state retirement pension but furloughed from my one day a week job (usually it is more than one day a week but I am only contracted for one day, so only receive 80% of one day's pay). Being paid for NOT going to work is ok but I would prefer to be back to normal and be able to go away in my my motorhome when I want to. I am just hoping that it won't be long before we are allowed to do so!

We live in Flintshire and a friend told me that people were queueing at Oakenholt tip at 6.30 this morning for a 9.00 am opening. There's still a 45 minute wait and this seems to be the norm at all 5 Recycling Centres in Flintshire.
We're like you and waiting until things die down a bit before venturing to one. Reading the instructions it looks like they will only allow 1 person to exit the car to get rid of stuff so I'll have to reduce grass cutting black bins ( old style) to about ¾ full. They don't want recycling items either and only back bagged general waste so most of our stuff will be staying where it is until restrictions lifted.

Most of our family have never stopped working. Teachers looking after children who need to be in school (essential or vulnerable) , teachers doing online work from home, Firefighters, Ambulance drivers, Police, Local Government Officers who are half in half out of work environments and working from home. Had one at home for a couple of weeks as he heads construction for a big Housebuilding company, but he’s back now. One works for Rolls Royce, he finds out his fate this week.☹️
On the plus side, we are thankful that so far, not a single family member as far as we know has had C19. Obviously cannot be sure as not been tested, but fingers crossed it stays this way.🤞

Grandson aged 24, been a doctor for only 8 months, but now working 12 hour day or night shifts with Covid patients in Coventry hospital. I know he will be glad when normality returns.

The over 70's can claim exceptional circumstances and carry on as normal I'd have thought!
Mrs M's sister and OH have both had 70th birthdays over the past couple of weeks - I can't see them sitting meekly at home when the rest of us are up and about!

I posted before (maybe this thread) that we moved our summer holiday to Troutbeck Head and that SP (there are 47) were fully booked in July, I've noticed today that apart from four days, August is fully booked on SP and those four days are showing five pitches or less.

Not sure this is going to be true anymore, bank holiday Tuesday in Lee-on-theSolent, only people working are the icream vendors .
Schools start a phased return starting June provided they can find a way to stop the youngsters picking their noses and wiping it on their clothes
, so maybe we will eventually see more results from lifting the lock down.0 -
The trick is Frank, to do your own risk assessment.......are you healthy (no diabetes, no heart disease, no immune system issues, not grossly overweight etc.....), then look at what you want to do, where you want to go, how do I get there and consider the risks. Can you keep well away from others, is your vehicle reliable, will the places I might need be open (loos, shops, eateries etc...)
70 is just a number. Some individuals way over 70 are very fit, no health issues at all. Conversely, some 20/30/40/50/60 year olds are not.
Relying upon someone else to order your life can get frustrating. Particularly if the ones doing it have all the organisational skills of a flange of baboons......

I was just saying exactly the same thing in the car on our way to Tesco click and collect. We thought it was due to end middle of June, but nothing has been mentioned recently. I hope they haven't forgotten us! We could be sitting here for months waiting for the green light.
