Yes, and that has been the case for at least the last 2 or 3 weekends, and was it last Wednesday when we saw those pictures of overnighting campervans/motorhomes in Cornwall? "Don't come to ..........." has been advertised, but to no avail it would seem.

It is indeed time they disbanded the lynch mobs and started to focus on more important matters. More or less all the media still wanted to purse it at last evenings briefing. Despite having already had an hour in number 10's garden.
They should have been focusing on the reopening of shops. Asking where is the App to support track and trace, which is vital for such an enterprise. Or the lack of social distancing on the beaches and its possible implications to this opening, through a second spike.

isnt getting 80% of your salary for 'not working' way better than 'being retired'?
.....factor in less expenses as the family doesnt go out for treats (dinner, cinema, theatre, other entertainment) and i can see that most wouldnt want to go back to work...
i know a few oldies on state pensions who would love a slice of that.

AFAIK Covid numbers/graphs for the SW have remained flat since the first one appeared on tne daily briefing.

Hi BB,
I get the impression that not many posters on here are on state pension alone.
Also, in the same way that I think the majority of people are acting in a reasonable way, I think it likely that the majority of people on furlough would be glad to go back to some resemblance of normality.
I feel very very lucky to be in the position I am, retired from my career with a pension, and do not think that the situation facing those who are still working, and maybe on furlough at 80%, can be in any way described as something I would want a slice of.

Some will inevitably use public transport to get into town and could easily have a contact over 15 minutes. It is going to be the same queuing to pay, both inside activities which are higher risk. Certainly for the foreseeable future, as far as I'm concerned it's the Internet for me.😀 I'm not that desperate for clothes and you can't try them on in any event.

We made a mistake of getting on a bus a couple of weeks ago. There was no social distancing. At the very least I thought that every other row would have been barriered off, how wrong was I. After a couple of stops we got off. We were wearing face masks

check it out before you go, ours have been open a couple of weeks now but people were queuing at 0700 hrs for a 0900 opening,
our LC have continued to collect garden waste, 1 bag per household, but some weeks i got away with 2 bags as the bungalow next door is empty so guys were understanding

We had one collection a week ago and it was the first since lockdown. None to follow. The council said it was to reduce queues for tips when they open - you gotta laugh! I might take a drive to have a look in a weeks time but realistically I am expecting to leave it a couple of weeks whilst adding to the garden waste bag pile

Maybe in the short term, but i am in it for the long haul and given that today we are comfortable on what we get from pensions unless the world goes completely mad in the next 10 years I dont see a lot changing for us. Today the sun is shining and i am stood up, that is fine for me.

....but, as i said, you're not on a state pension...
of course, the furloughing is a temporary measure (we certainly cant afford to pay it for ever) but plenty of getting up late, strolling with the family and riding your bike in the sunshine (and getting paid handsomely to do it) is going to make going back to work a bit of a culture shock for quite a few...

Still no suggestion when hospitality is to be released from lockdown has far as l can see, does the club come in that category. If and when we will be allowed to go to the sites l will make my own judgement how to conduct ourselves within the Government outline, l am pretty sure the club will be making sure we adhere to all step 2 guidelines. l have still got sites booked in July, September, October and November, until l am told otherwise that the club intends to cancel those bookings l will be going. We both feel it would help in our well being to get away. No doubt l will now be getting the said posts that we are selfish and irresponsible. l agree with Dominic Cummings l would have looked after my own first especially with the pond life that's parked outside is house and that includes the media, about time they looked to reporting how we will get out of this crisis and how to prevent it from happening again, but that means good journalism.

well 2 months ago i would have said you were crazy to even contemplate taking your van out this year, and i was resigned to putting mine into moth balls, but after witnessing the crowds flocking to the seaside over the past couple of weeks i am having second thoughts, in fact i have booked a cross channel ferry for first week in September. If we make it great, if not will use the ticket next year.
Using UK sites Mmmmmm!! it is the overcrowding that worries me and i think that is probably inevitable, not just on sites, but at resorts in general, dont normally tour in the UK July/August under normal circumstances.
