I just had a vision of going over there and realised Eire hadn't been in the news regarding travel. Vision only at present. frown

Think that the Cummings saga has a while to go but in the meantime, thought this picture of road signs on the route from London to Durham quite telling.

Eire is not included in the quarantine plans but I know nothing else.

Britons talk a good game when it comes to social distancing but research suggests that many of us are somewhat economical with the truth.

Only 3 per cent of people admitted to having left the house for non-essential reasons during the past week, polling shows. However, when the question was asked anonymously this figure jumped to 29 per cent.

    Survey from the Times

If I could choose just now I'd head for a CL in Devon. Unfortunately even if things improve July and August will be for families and will be busy as usual. Scotland in September is nice and presumably it would be Brit's only this year so maybe less people around?

Does not mean that those making 'non essential' journeys did not social distance however. The only non essential journeys that we have made are to the supermarket for some compost and to the garden centre for some grass seed for lawn repair.

Hi, that appears to be a two week old survey, of how many people I don't know, but as ever uses the word 'essential' to suggest that people are doing wrong when they may not have been as, it seems , there are lots of people who are confused over what is and what is not allowed.

That is not surprising when HMG says you can do something, travel, and a lineup of the self serving, look how good I am, types-Police Chief's, Councillors etc, tell people not to travel.

We all know that there will always be people who 'push it', or even just ignore what is asked of them, but this non stop 'public bashing' is getting rather tedious.

As a fellow keggy, writing with a stick pen and a right handed inkwell could only result in one way, splattered and smudged exercise books.

Yes, Scotland is also on our possible list for later this year.  September can be quite pleasant weather-wise, but of course nothing is guaranteed.  From what I gather, midges aren't as problematic at that time of year as earlier on.  Another possibility for us is Dartmoor, which we really like, but we'll have to see nearer the time.

Fingers crossed you'll still be able to go across the water in September and keep your ferry booking wink

Northumberland is stunning in September, combined with Borders. Lots to see and do and some of the best beaches in UK.

A funny to share, doesn’t take the wits long to pounce......

Northumberland is also somewhere we'd thought about, could combine that with going further into Scotland, or vice versa.  It's nice to start planning a little, but still very cautious and not getting too excited, with probably lots of us having similar ideas, sites could get booked up even more than previously wink

dont want to raise politics again or we get told off but if what is on the tee-shirt is true then maybe he should be made to walk the plank, but a report i read in the press said that the guy who saw him in the car park at Barnards Castle said he thought it was Cummings but checked the number plate of his car out online when he got home to confirm. Is there anywhere on line that the man in the street can punch in a number plate and see the name of the owner of that particular car, DVLA site only gives details re tax/insurance ?

I cant find any supporting evidence for his posting anywhere, the post immediately below his suggests something completely different, a 14 day 'voluntary' isolation period.

inhad already read that the UK will 'be in talks' with near neighbours to get a unified reciprocal 'passage' system in place.....the current tit for tat stuff wont continue if all parties want to move forward...

as i said earlier, plenty of time to think about the September position, no point in either getting exited nor writing it all off just yet..

im happy to see what pans out..

as i thought, surprised the press have not jumped on the guy in the newspapers today who said his computer search history shows that the car he saw at Barnard Castle was that of Mr Cummings, i am sure it will all come out in the wash, or not. undecided

Regarding the new allegations I will make just one comment (I'm not going to get into a slanging match or another bout of verbal shenanigans with others!)

The new allegations may be completely untrue and simply politically motivated. But Dominic Cummings could put them to bed  with one simple move - since it's inconceivable that, once recovered, he wouldn't have been pretty much continuously in phone contact with Boris and other ministers, allow the head of the civil service, possibly through the police, to examine his phone records.  If he was where he says he was it would silence the new rumours at a stroke and he could receive a deserved apology.  If he wasn't the solution is obvious.

I am sure that like everywhere else, BC will be crawling with cctv cameras, as will the roads between London and Durham.

I’m confused with going out or not . On one hand we’re told only to go out for essential needs ,and were told we can drive as far as we like to go for a walk ! , what’s the point of this lockdown if everyone is driving and walking miles , I only go to the shops once a week and stay at home

For Molly's Mummy - going back to tripe being a north-west speciality, you have to realise that,  when I look at the map, anything further up and to the left of Swindon counts as north-west!  laughing

Yes and as this gun has been smoking since mid March dont you think those intrepid reporters from the Guardian and the Mirror should have investigated this already and produced the hard evidence, as should the Chief Constable who seems to have changed the story, originally they spoke to Dominic Cummings, now it would appear it might have been his father or some other male within the household.

Photographs in the newspapers today clearly show that there was more than adequate accomodation available for Cummings and his family to isolate without entering the main accomodation block.

I will be very surprised if BJ would have shown such support if he had any doubt that the allegations other than taking his family to Durham to access support were not true, if he did maybe he should be stepping down also.

well there goes the caravan holiday to Durham after lock down all the sites will be full of reporters laughing

well as stated previously i was born and bred in Blackburn and we had a tripe works not far from home, stank to high heaven when they were boiling the stuff, but it was a delicacy often eaten with salad and a big portion of home made chips, i seem to recall there was the big slabs of very white tripe, and what was called ladies tripe that was a little bit more refined and a pale brown in colour, and trotters which speak for themselves, we used to have it on pay days which i seem to recall was always on a Thursday or maybe Friday

I would be very surprised if security did not have a good idea as to when Cummings was home or away given his high profile
