When the lockdown ends

I wish I shared your faith David. This will be the same scientists that didn’t think Care Homes required priority, or to test patients being sent into care homes from hospital.........😢

Don’t worry, I’ve emailed the DG a link in case he too hasn’t seen the letter!!

We should thank Nick for his intervention.
The Disgruntleometer on Club Together was heading for "Only Slightly Miffed" before his timely article was deftly leaked to TinWheeler thus enabling the loyal CT members to cause a violent swerve to "Venting of the Spleen", it's rightful resting place. Normality has returned.
I can sleep easier now.👍

I suspect the letter was written in response to camping being mentioned a couple of times in the daily briefing on Covid 19. It was quite clear from what one of the supporting scientists said that they have little idea about how camping works and to that end the letter should help a more informed debate/decision making process. From that stand point I am glad the letter has been sent. Why the Club decided to communicate/publicise it via a caravan magazine rather than the membership of the Club my guess is as good as any!

Happy to have been of service, WN. 👍🏻😄😋

Ah, Pathfinder has revealed that NL's missive was posted on Facebook.
No surprise there, then! 😖

Trying to decide whether the Club thinks we are Rhubarb or Mushrooms, both are kept in the dark and fed excrement. Oh and one is 'forced' to provide more 'fruit'. Please keep us All informed not just readers of PC. via the Club Mag AND this website.

The cleaning regime will be interesting. Normally 90 mins out each morning so we could see something like this:-
Closed for cleaning
8-9:30
10.30-12:00
13:30-15:00
16:30-18:00
19:30 - 21:00
Don't blink. You'll miss your chance.

Same applies on this thread!
What a fuss some are making. This was a letter to Prof. Whitty. It tells us nothing at all except that the there is some communication (possibly one directional at the present) between the CAMC & government.departments. I for one could wait until there is some communication back which may contain something approaching news!

I was slightly amused by the reference to the CAMC being "a member's club"
I thought it strange that it should have been published in Practical Caravan and alerted on Facebook. Perhaps it will eventually appear on here .
The letter didn't address the point that whilst it will be possible to open sites safely with precautions as outlined, a lot of sites are in places where the local hospitals could easily be overwhelmed in the case of a second spike. I thought that was one of the overriding reasons for closure in the first place. It did also strike me that it smacked of the CAMC having been late to close sites begging to be the first to reopen.

Good point. It's not all about the club, its members and sites but also about the location and local infrastructure which needs to he taken into account.
The capabilities of the NHS are a major consideration as is the effect of an influx of tourists on local shops, places of worship, life guards and so on. We need to consider others as well as ourselves.

Careful AD. They'll burn you for heresy.

In that respect the C&CC in there artical in the June Mag say they are going to encourage folk to stay close to home. My pad won't let me cut and paste from within the mag. Hopefully the screenshot is clear enough.

It’s certainly the first thing that crossed my mind. I am sure if the Club are/might be in financial difficulties (and let’s face it, such a lot of the leisure, tourism, hospitality sector is), Members would prefer an honest appraisal of the current situation, and a degree of just how and where things are likely to be by 1st July, followed by a constructive action plan of what options there are to help tide things over in the immediate future. Lots of other companies, institutions are doing this now, being open and honest, and are eliciting a good deal of sympathy, support and good will. Surely as a “Members” Club it’s even more paramount to keep those Members clearly aware of ongoing developments.
Transparency and truth are a powerful agent at times like this, and much to be valued.

In various papers there are 'reports' of 500% increases in 'staycationer' holiday in campsites, no idea if true but I was changing my summer booking last night to be closer to home to be able to use the new glampings pods (for the scroungers - aka 'children') at Troutbeck.
I noticed that the dates I wanted (last week in July) have fully booked days (on service pitches) and had to move the weeks forwards. Others in that week had only 5 pitches or less so maybe people are booking up just in case sites are open?

I hear that wardens are being trained to do virus testing of customers as they arrive.

Take a set of fuses if it’s the luxury Glamping Pods. Our friends used them, and the fuses had been taken out of the heated towel rails for “safety” (a previous occupant had burnt their bum) Luckily, friend is a Sparky. It was cold, they needed the extra bit of heat in bathroom😂

We have made some bookings for later,as we have had several conversations with others , who tend to go "over there" but are staying this side ,and a couple of the neigbours have been "asking?" how we like having a caravan
When booking we also noticed sites quite busy,
Also as there is a possibility of sites having reduced capacity? to help with distancing? we thought it prudent to book some, although OH is not sure about useing the on board shower? ,and we were resigned to going nowhere this year ,but then we thought why?

Could well be about the spacing but there are a lot of SP there, it will interesting to see what happens, and where they have put the new cabins. Fingers and toes crossed.

I much prefer to read something like that which is trying to factor in the possibilities without the bluster. It's ironic that when the mag arrived I handled it carefully, wiped it over, left it in the fresh air etc. That's the reality just now and we've another X number of days to go till we reach early July. CAMC haven't talked about possible plans in depth to their members yet. Distancing and use/non use of facilities being two major factors to consider.

I read the letter last night on the Practical Caravan website also our dealer Campbell’s copies a part of it on to their Facebook page. We still have our main summer holiday booked from the middle of July for 3 weeks and are hoping to get as planned I do suspect however that if and when. Sites open the toilet blocks will be closed I just don’t see a way around that to be honest. We normally use the facilities on site but if we can still go on holiday then we will use the facilities in the van no problem. I don’t think any of us will get and definitive answers for a good few weeks yet.
