When the lockdown ends

Although I intend to take it for a run round without stopping next week, to rotate the wheels and oily bits.
Hi steve,Make sure to get out though as the travel must still be linked to exercise or being 'outdoors'!

When we cycle it is always predominantly off road but, as this has not been possible, we have been using the roads which have obviously been much quieter.
I am looking at my bikes now and will be heading off to enjoy the Camel trail later but combining with shopping to minmise my trips.

Sure is ideal for day trips out, Ray. Completely self sufficient. It's one of the big benefits of a MH.👍

Still too many mixed messages for my liking, for example you can now travel in the car to take outdoor exercises away from home. This contradicts the signs that the river and canal authorities have posted stating that the towpaths are for local use only. Some of these paths are barely one meter wide, even walkers find it difficult to keep the full two meters apart but it is impossible for a cyclist.
There is some lovely scenery along the canal and under normal circumstances visitors are encouraged but please could cyclists stay away while we must social distance.

We are told the chances of catching the virus in the open air and when passing someone inside are slim. Well ventilated toilet blocks (it is summer after all) and closing alternative showers/ toilets should ensure social distancing. The washing up sinks could be one in, one out.
The club have had 8 weeks since lockdown to fit screens in the office to protect staff so that they are ready to open. Has it happened? Are they ready?

Latest update for UK Sites generally

Although these proposed relaxations to travel restrictions etc have been mapped out, they remain mere possibilities as to what and when may happen and are subject to the five conditions being met including the death rate and re-infection rate continuing to fall. Judging by some of the comments that I have seen online, there are large numbers of people planning to visit areas of natural beauty both inland and on the coast over the next few days " because they can and it's allowed "... People are of course free to take part in "being allowed to go anywhere they like within England" but I fear that this may in fact result in some locations becoming too crowded and the R rate going in completely the wrong direction resulting in a second peak and further restrictions on movement being made. I truly hope this does not happen.

We carted water about when we had a caravan. Not for showers, we preferred to use the site ones. However, we did wash up in the van, rather than cart everything to the facilities. Now we can drive to get water, 100 litres at a time, which is much easier.😀

lock down has ended at Meon Shore and guess what is blocking most of the car park space, yes, and they are parked sideways on, so inconsiderate

I think more of a problem is how confined many are. Narrow corridors and entrances. If sites are allowed to fill to capacity it would be impossible to avoid folk. Rewashing of hands on return to the van should deal with anything you might have touched exiting the block. You can always take your own spray if you want to disinfect taps before touching.

Since we like Morrison's for shopping but they closed all three of our local ones both large and small in last three years we usually use Southport which was where we last shopped in March. Yesterday we shopped there again and had a walk to the seafront which those of you who have used the CAMC Southport site will know is not far away. Despite the relaxation it was very quiet and we saw very few people and only once got within 20 metres of anybody.
As we walked back past the Pleasure land Caravan Park (car park) even though the gate was locked there were 8 motorhomes and 1 caravan on the site and all looked occupied. Most likely full timers with nowhere else to go. Whilst this site does now advertise EHUs it has no toilet block but is very popular on a weekend with often over 50 outfits on what is really a car park. I suppose price and location does matter and I can see this becoming even more popular at less than half the price of the CAMC nearby full facility site if it proves difficult to reopen the facilities even though it's really a car park.

I would not have been there now but did immediately think of L'Amfora where staff were indeed there for most of the day.

I fervently believe that camping is an ideal way to take a socially distanced holiday, either the pitches are spaced at 6m, as standard, or we could just occupy alternate pitches.
I note that yacht marinas have been allowed to open up, and they have adopted a “one-one-out” rule for the toilets. This may lead to queuing, but perhaps the facilities could be prioritised for tent campers since all caravans and Motorhomes have onboard facilities (except smaller camper vans and vintage units), so it would be easy for the rest of us to avoid the queues.OK, so how do we “enforce” it?
99.9% of members are respectful of others, and have enough common sense to abide by a rule like that, let’s face it, the country has complied with lockdown to a remarkable degree without the need for a police state.
At our last outing in early March, the club had already introduced safety measures to protect staff, and the wardens sanitised the facilities, including outside hand rails, several times a day. We can all help minimise the wardens work load by being more considerated in our use of the site and it’s facilities.
My other suggestion is to have a hand washing or sanitising station just outside the facilities door. Sanitise you’re hands on the way in and on the way out?
What about petrol station style glove dispensers at water taps, or use your (unused!) dog-poo bags as disposable gloves?

What about petrol station style glove dispensers at water taps,
The last time I filled up at Tesco (week prior to lockdown) They had all been pinched, not a glove to be seen.☹️
A box of 100 arrived with our Lakeland order this week. So will be well provisioned when we do eventually venture out.
