When the lockdown ends

Agree, as far as I know only Bleach and Formaldehyde kill ALL germs and Viruses.
I have always used Elsan Blue, mainly because of its British Kite mark to Guarantee to do just that.
I will carry on to use Elsan Blue.
For me it was always about sterilization the smell aspect comes a distant second.
I will also be carrying a couple of bottles of bleach as a standby. And to wipe taps/handles etc.

I've been trying to answer my own question by looking up a few "virus" killers and it looks as though a strong detergent works, maybe the bio pods will be ok? Bleach is good but no good for porta loos, vinegar is ok too but still not ok. Wiping things with bacterial wipes isn't as reliably effective. I'd definitely head for open air disposal points as the virus can linger for a long time in enclosed spaces. If I was standing next to a water tap filling up a can and someone came up alongside to a CEP and gave their cassette the usual shake I'd be off like a rocket!

Yes so would i, and all those advocating the closure of facilities and everybody using onboard facilities, the chances of the above happening increase significantly, and if the CEP is in an enclosed room as many are then I am sure the risk is even greater.
100 units using maybe using 2 x CEP, not my idea of escaping to the great outdoors to make it easier to self isolate

Bad idea to shake it too vigorously, can damage the float etc!
I was thinking a spray bottle of a bleach solution to take along would be a good idea, maybe even add some soap solution? Spray taps etc before touching. Maybe disposable gloves?
I usually end up emptying the cassette late night or early morning, OH panics when the little red light comes on, so should not be too many people around then!
Our inclination would be to stick mainly to CLs, only 5 cassettes to be emptying, and pretty much always outside.

i would agree that its the handles that are the main concern, so once you been to the loo or had a shower does one not then wash their hands before leaving the block. If the doors were fastened back then you would have no need to touch anything after washing your hands so thereby reducing the risk of 'touch' infection.

Just had a thought, some sites are open now according to the last magazine and confirmed on here by some of the folk staying on them.
As far as I know the facility blocks are open on these sites so how are they 'managing them' I know the sites are not at full capacity but if folk are indeed using the showers and toilets etc what are they doing to avoid contact infection.

I think it would also depend on what the tap handles are like?
If you need to grip them to turn on/off then that is not ideal.
All the taps we have at home have levers that you push to move from cold to hot, and lift/push down to turn on/off, which seems to me to be a better idea.
And doors fixed back would frequently make it very chilly in the shower!
Yet another reason to use our own.

I got the impression that was only his take on things, Brue. As yet, no one knows what the situation might be come July. That’s not to say he’s wrong, of course.
His was the first site in Cornwall to voluntarily close prior to lockdown as far as I know.

As long as the price is right, and the CC don't try to charge top whack, as they are prone to do.

I thought i saw a post on CT that said that although some sites were open facilities blocks were closed, but could be wrong, but either way all this turning taps off with your feet, carrying bottles of spray bleach, wearing wet suit and diving mask is too much aggro for me.
I will not be going anywhere until i am sure i can enjoy my stay wherever that may be and more importantly stay safe and i only feel relatively safe at home right now.

"OH panics when the little red light comes on, so should not be too many people around then!"
Kjell, id hope she'd be on her own in there

It was on our local tv news for people to be aware that if they drive out for a walk and intend to stay a while that no public toilets will be open and they don't intend to open them for a good while due to the risk of infection. Suggesting facility blocks may remain closed when sites open.

There aren’t that many left now, and a couple are lined up for the chopping block☹️
Besides, a great deal of their appeal is that they had folks who loved them staying, if you get my drift.......😉

Going to be interesting if the Club does open Sites. They might not be the havens of peace and tranquility folks think, even with or without facilities.........the schools might not have re opened! 🤔

It might be what you meant, Heethers, but it wasn't what you said. You were urging folk to do something to move the situation forward.
"Lets do our bit whatever the government and club decide..."

good point, and to have a site full of children who have been caged up for weeks is going to set some peoples hearts pounding , dogs, kids, frustrated parents BBQ's by the score, LV's full of smoke, lovely, i can just see a site in front of me now, Dorset , name with held, not a club site, but the sort of place where social distancing is just not going to work.

I am still a little unclear whether I could go for a ride out in my motorhome for the day with all facilities onboard. Not that I particularly intend to but it might be the answer to the lack of toilets?

According to the wording:-
People may drive to outdoor open spaces irrespective of distance, so long as they respect social distancing guidance while they are there, because this does not involve contact with people outside your household.
It does not mention type of vehicle, so I guess it would be permissible. No intention of doing it though. Although I intend to take it for a run round without stopping next week, to rotate the wheels and oily bits.

We would like to take the M/H out, pack some food and enjoy a day out somewhere using our onboard facilities. I think we'd stick out like a sore thumb just now, perceived as holiday makers. But if things do ease up I think we'll be spending our summer just tootling around on day trips to places we hope will be relatively quiet. Will have to wait and see.
There were pictures on TV of queues at a garden centre we use sometimes. I looked at the M5 camera around Weston SM, out of interest but it didn't look too busy.
What we need is rain to slow the process up! (We really do need some rain in our part of the UK.)

Perhaps that's the thinking behind "drive and far as you want for exercise". Our range will be constrained by the capacity of our bladders. So about a kilometre on foot or ten miles in the car.

...or all day in the van
i see from an NT update they are opening some car parks, but where manned or with facilities, these will be looked at later...
