If we find this thing escalates again, we could find a much harsher lockdown regime. Those that are cavalier over these instructions aren't doing anyone any favours.

as of Monday 11th May Spain will move start to move out of lock down in phases zero and one, but the Spanish government are being forced into this because the country is going bankrupt and people have no money to buy food.

Lots of areas will be in phase zero which still has strict lock down procedures in force, e.g. only allowed out at certain times of day depending on your age, and then only for essential travel and only within your own area e.g. if you live in Cornwall you can not cross the Cornish boundary into another area, clubs and pubs will open but only if they have an outside area which can be mapped out into 2 mtr areas.

Some socialising will be allowed but only within your own premises, so street parties etc are banned. 2 people will now be allowed to travel in a vehicle but only essential travel, and much more, phase one sees the easing of some restrictions but , I am pretty sure that if we had tried to enforce such draconian restrictions in the UK there would have been major protests, we cant even get a tracking and tracing app off the ground because people are complaining about loss of privacy etc undecided

My daughter has not been out of her appartment for 8 weeks except to shop once per week, walk the dog, but no more than 100 mtrs from front door, because she knows if she gets caught it is an immediate fine or the threat of jail, and some folk are complaining because they cant take their LV into Spain undecided

I’m looking for the blinkers pattern that some folks are using, you know, the one to use after your mask has been made, your store of sanitiser has been stocked and your unswerving oath of loyalty to our bumbling Government has been printed..........🤔

Fact number one is there are parts of the UK where the chances of picking up coronavirus are minimal, yet the restrictions being imposed are the same across the whole country.

Fact number two is that the risks for the younger age groups are minimal too, yet the the restrictions being imposed are the same across the whole age range.

No wonder many people are using common sense and judging the risks for themselves.

But if those who consider themselves low risk are allowed to travel and interact freely then they will invariably risk spreading the disease to low risk areas and high risk people.....

Fact number three, my daughter is allowed to walk in the public park near her home but is not allowed  to sit down. Who thought that one up? Is sitting down causing a greater risk of her catching or spreading the virus? So men are employed to tell her not to sit down .

Fact number four, a 50 year old lady is allowed to cycle nine miles to see how we are (that's exercise) but not allowed to drive over (that's a non essential journey) Is sitting in a car causing a greater risk of her catching or spreading the virus? So police officers in cars tell her they can drive but she cannot.

No wonder many people are using common sense and judging the risks for themselves.

I don't think you'd want to sit where someone who had Covid19 had just sat too? Essential journeys include caring duties, even if it's just a distant chat and look (looking at people can tell you more than phone calls.) Have you got a lot of police officers down your way EurorT?!

So here you go. Fact five, apply common sense and get on with it.

And fact six. Yes there are parts of the country where catching the virus is less likely...until the holiday season opens up
and people visit to "get away from it all" and bring it with them. frown

Just been announced that Nicolas Sturgeon has said it's OK for folk in Scotland to exercise more than once from tomorrow, following on from Mark Drakeford's similar announcement for Wales.

Any bets as to what Boris will say tonight? wink

(Echoed no doubt by the "pit bull" from Belfast! surprised)

There was a chart on one of the daily briefings Last week showing how people were responding to restrictions.  Apparently 82%, if I remember correctly, were not going out  unnecessarily and were observing social distancing.

No mention was made of the presumably 18% who were NOT complying, and what was being done about it!

Ha Ha - I do think she is one of the "tough guys" of National politics just now (not everybody's favourite I realise) but no, not even she would go that far.

BTW - has anyone noticed that there was no daily government update this evening for the first time since the crisis started - and that Boris is simply "making a statement" tonight, not opening himself up to questions from the press or public the way his minions have been doing? undecided

Boris hasn't led a briefing since he was poorly 🤐

I wasn't aware that exercise was only once a day in any of our country's. I did think it probably was.

I seem to learn more when we are told what we can now do 🤣🤣. Well it would be funny if not SO serious!

One, I think, earlier this week - and it was noticeable how quickly he shifted difficult questions on to the "experts" flanking him. Of course he won't  have them to lean on tonight! frown

    No need for apologies, B2.

One day tends to be very like another and the briefings all merge into one big mind heap.

Edit: Done it again, M 😂

Not only Spain on the verge of bankruptcy, we are not that far off ourselves, l am afraid only course of action is to steer us out of lockdown, otherwise we will see far bigger catastrophe than we have seen upto now. l remember when we had 2.5 million out of work that was by no means pleasant, and the country wasn't bankrupt then, would not like to think how many would suffer if we did go to the wall

Are you for getting this was a road map, the intricacies of the plan will be announced to parliament over the next couple of days, no way could he have given all the details.l just hope all parties try and work together on this instead of scoring political points like the scottish minister has done although this lockdown. She's just trying to deflect her shortcomings over these past few years of being in charge of the Scottish assembly

According to some friends of ours who live in AYR ,the first minister like her predecessor is not well liked ,by many in Scotland because her "agender"

I was watching her live on tv this morning and she says the reason the "Stay at home" slogan has not been amended ,  is not to score points but because the virus has yet to peak in Scotland and she would loosen the lockdown ASAP

    what a sexist remark!wink

however, i expect 'agender' soon to be another of the dizzying options on many of the forms we fill in today...undecided

I beg to differ JV, she wouldn’t be the 1st minister if she was ‘not well liked’. I’d venture she is very well liked. I believe most of the controversy the Lady engenders is from men who feel threatened by intelligent & strong Women👍🏻

As a resident, I would say it is about 50/50 politically.  As a taxpayer, I do not of  course like that we are paying more tax than in other parts of UK, but there are perks like free prescriptions, free University tuition and free personal care for some of we old people, so swings and roundabouts.

However, setting politics aside, especially as I do not have a vote anyway, I think she has been doing OK so far in these difficult times.
