The Guardian online reports that this is a existing 'mass grave' that is in use normally, mainly for families who cannot afford a funeral, and that it has gone from app 25 burials on one day of the week to around 24 five days a week.

Its a very sad to think that this is something that was the norm before we got into our current situation.

There is no need to travel regarding distant relatives, a quick search and telephone call to the local council community help number, or that districts community will have a person knocking on that door pretty damn quickly.

Help and assistance numbers are now rolled out nationally, both officially and locally.

Does Cornwall not have the same sort of support system as the rest of the country? No LINK service? Has she no neighbours who can help out with whatever she needs? What does she do on the other 51 weeks of the year? I find it very strange that a journey from Hertfordshire to Cornwall just at this particular weekend should be considered essential! undecided

I assume the tortoise comment is another example of "humour". frown

As I said JVB, only one needs to go, especially if he works in a care home. I think many will be questioned en route today as they get further west.

What some get upset about in humour these days,

but then what is humour? when seeing the excuse for it  ,,that is acceptable these days

Not that we can remember of it  ,but then there is plenty of history about WW2

I think they and most would agree with that , they were not it seemed best pleased  ,as they said their car is a london registration ,"if we fly the cornish flag" to get past the road blocks,

Anyway, trying to get back on a more positive note, can I encourage everyone to contribute to ITV's 1 million claps initiative by texting CLAP and a message to 70507 - you can also claim gift aid on this - a small way of expressing our appreciation. smile

That reminds me of the time, 27 years ago, when I had developed testicular cancer. After examining me, prior to diagnosis, the consultant sat across from me and picked up an apple from his lunchbox, cupped in one hand and a paper weight cupped in the other, side by side. He smiled to me and dropped the paperweight onto the desk. One way of imparting bad news with a touch of humour.

I happily use the +1, I use it to support a view or quote & I’ll do it & I’ll stand by my +1. I certainly won’t be put off by some petty individual who doesn’t like free speech & feels they need to control it👍🏻.

    PS-others that use the +1. . .Go for it👏🏻👏🏻

When real humour was acceptable back then, ET

In 1993 i had a serious accident at work, and the comments and cards that i got from work  ,were really funny if taken as they expected them to be ,but these days i could have had some money form "slander/,defirmation of character  court casecool

Well just lets hope and pray that he doesn't transport anything from the Care Home or back to the Care Home.

No I don't understand the point you're making and I wish you'd just stop trying to justify yourself.

I'm not allowed to drive 3 miles up the road to visit my 93 year old father in his care home - I accept that, I don't look for a loophole to try to circumnavigate the rules. frown

    +1.

But I do like a touch of direct intervention as well. Particularly if the message isn’t getting through by intelligent means......

I love the Glyndwr subtlety, but let’s hope it doesn’t happen😉

    Portland Heights

at this time of year the foreground is wedged with people the road across the causeway bumper to bumper, but, presently it is very quiet

    Thank you for staying away

So let me get this right in my mind, JVB. The elderly Lady lives in Cornwall and her "carers" live in Hertfordshire and Manchester. Is that correct? undecided
