Any advice from Club on Coronavirus?

Not reading half the story and merely pointing out that:
A. The stringent actions in Italy are relatively recent.
B. The UK government says we are at a stage of infection 4 weeks behind Italy.
I am not saying that any country has managed to stop the spread. And obviously any European country will wish to delay the onslaught as long as possible to ease pressure on hospitals.

I think the best advise for every one ,is coming from those who "hope they are right?" via what has been seen by most via TV and Radio,
I do know that notices are also deployed on sites as add reminders to all members , one problem is the company that is contracted to supply cleaning chemicals to sites , are having difficulty filling orders for sanitizers and certain other cleaners,
So it would not be OTT to take what you think you need with you
Ps if useing sites with a lot of grass pitches , do not be surprised if the pitches on some sites have not yet been cut, as they are too wet to get the mowers on

you are trying to process too much information, in a nutshell we have all be told how to self test e.g. if you have the sniffles, hacking, cough, temperature, self isolate for a minimum of 7 days if conditions persist seek professional help and enforce a strict regime of self hygiene, simple.

Self testing will not provide meaningful statistics which is the point that I made. If you believe that the testing carried out to date produces meaningful statistical information regarding the rate of spread then I do not. If that is the case then best we agree to disagree

Probably not as I do not tend to read newspaper editorials or listen to government soundbite. The amount of half decent info out there is not sufficient to overload anybody. There is a lot more chaff to winnow away than the corn left in this present scenario. Harvests are poor

As an aside :
But Sir Patrick told BBC Radio 4's Today programme 'it was more likely the virus would be transmitted in a pub than a stadium'.
Does he not realise that where there is a large sporting event that fans congregate in local pubs either before or after?

It looks as if the football authorities have taken the decision ahead of any government advice. Other sports are sure to follow I'd have thought.

I found this youtube explanation of covid19 growth to be quite 'comforting' in explaining the growth and then control of the virus. We must hope that the inflection point comes soon!

Like Ruffs I prefer to use my own common sense. I’m avoiding crowds, using high hygiene standards and trying a Japanese solution by having a couple of sips of water every 15 minutes and washing everything in th3 mouth to the gut where acids should neutralise anything untoward

I thought yesterday's announcements very proffesionally handled. The PM couldn't have been more direct, "loved ones are going to be lost". I might not have agreed with the scope of the proposals but accept there decisions are science led. Having spent most of my working life providing science / statistics based predictions to my employers, I know you can go from hero to zero very quickly.

Like most political broadcasts - professional and carefully chosen as to what was referenced concerning actions taken so far. Just what was expected and not a criticism of the broadcast
Some of the rhetoric a bit like Trump's in that regard but far more slickly delivered.

From the BBC Website
Professor Trudie Lang at the University of Oxford says there is "no biological mechanism" that would support the idea that you can just wash a respiratory virus down into your stomach and kill it.
Infections like coronaviruses enter the body via the respiratory tract when you breathe in. Some of them might go into your mouth, but even constantly drinking water isn't going to prevent you from catching the virus.
Nonetheless, drinking water and staying hydrated is generally good medical advice.

I wonder if there’s scope for the creation of a sticky thread to inform us of any disruptions to club sites such as closures or restricted occupancy? It would probably need to be for use only by staff/mods to allow it to remain brief and factual.
Perhaps someone will report my post to Rowena if they think it could be a useful tool.
