well not to put too fine a point on it, have little faith in the WHO i think our guys are much more informed and have been doing a sterling job thus far, including Boris
if the WHO is such an authority they should have declared a pandemic before now, it may have slowed the infections 0 -

yes and if the WHO had showed some leadership maybe what you advocate would have happenend but the truth is they did not and now we are all suffering the consequencies, for my money just another of those "world" organisations that is inaffective.

You may wish to change your opinion after looking at the Coronavirus Live Blog in the Guardian, posted at 17:48. A retired Intensive Care Doctor has been quite scathing about the UK approach to testing after he and some 6 colleagues were apparently infected, but have been refused tests in the UK.

Us too, Valda, but fortunately neither of us have underlying health issues that we know of, so hopefully, should we contract the virus, we'll not suffer over much; fingers crossed.

in such a massive operation there will always be weak links in the chain but you only need to look at the way the team handled those people brought home from the cruise ship in Japan , the hotel in Teneriff, yes we could yet see a major escalation similar to Italy but thus far my money is on the expertise we have at home not in bodies such as the WHO, and at the end of the day was does a Pandemic really mean, nothing, just an escalation of a virus to several countries throughout the world, but not wanting to be too cynical , people get paid for making this decision.

Viking River/Sea Cruises are offering temporary suspension of cancellation charges and issueing a voucher for use with future bookings if you decide to cancel up 24 hours prior to departure.
Its about time the Club got together on BEHALF OF ITS MEMBERS and instigated something similar with its suppliers.

We may well bump into you as we are going for 70 days at the same time. I'm not worried about the virus other than if we get it the week before travel. I would like to think that Brittany Ferries maybe sympathetic and allow us to defer our sailing for a week or two until given the all clear. The same applies to the campsite.
Travel insurance is proving challenging and expensive for an undiagnosed condition for which I'm awaiting a hospital consultation but is not life threatening.

Another member has recently cancelled a Brittany Ferries crossing and because of their age and medical history the company were very sympathetic to them so I imagine you will find the same? I suspect the position with insurance won't get any better in the immediate future and could get worse. The Club can usually provide details of insurers who are willing to take on risks not covered by other insurers.

They may not though David as any booking made for travel after the 22nd.April had the opportunity of opting for a Flexi fare which allow you to change your booking within a very short period of time, I think 4 hours, without penalty but obviously you would pay any differntial in price.
Part of my booking was under their old T&Cs whereby they did indeed refund the whole amount less a small admin fee. Maybe they just fell for my good looks and natural blarney.
The second part of our booking was on the flexi part and that was amended to September under their normal terms without a problem.1 -
Belgium has now announced new, and strict, measures to try to combat the virus. Whilst the google translation isn't a good one, this document may give you some idea of what you might face if you're travelling to one of the Belgian ports in the next few days/weeks.
