How's your footy team doing?

I'm in no position to comment on last night's debacle, I chickened out and didn't go. The roads round here were treacherous yesterday and the local council weren't up to their usual standard viv a vis gritting, cars going off piste all over the place.
Derby County on Saturday, a place where we don't usually win so it's looking like back into the bottom three soon. Bah humbug.

Well, well, well a point at Pride Park. Both there and before that the mud heap formerly known as the Baseball Ground were black holes as far as Town was concerned 23 previous attempts and no wins and very few if any points.
A poster on Town's fan forum said he would eat one of his testicles if Town got anything yesterday. The forum was flooded last evening with recipes!🍨🍧

Wow a win against the Brizzles! Didn't see that one coming. Also another of those rare occurrences, a penalty!
its amazing how three points can move you up the table, we just need those teams down there with us to do the right thing and lose tonight.
Charlton on Saturday and at home again.

Nice steady Draw away at Morecambe -- Seems to have been a good match according to all reports, and a day out by the seaside in nice fresh coastal breezes to blow those nasties away - that really can't be bad .
And here I'm sitting at a blooming keyboard -- must be barmy

Well we braved the cold yesterday and boy was it cold, but we were rewarded with a fine 4-0 win over the addicks.
It was a jittery 70 minutes at 1-0 until our super subs came on. Super sub number 1 scored with his first touch, off his chest! Super sub number two laid on a sumptuous little pass for goal number three and then capped it off with a screamer from 25+ yards with virtually the last kick of the match.
On to the Beeston boys next Saturday. If Wigan can win there why can't we.

Aston Villa will continue to show dedication to the task of returning to the Championship at the first time of asking ... Still uncertain whether the team's full title is 'Aston Villa Nil'

Even by their own dismal standards, Villla were rubbish last night. One of the first things supporters learn about 'the Villa' is that there's only one 'b' in abysmal; and there's no 'k' in 'pathetic' ...

Home town team's throwing away their chance of joining the "Big Boys", having now only a 4 pt lead after being 12 pts clear at one point.

I am a Villa supporter and have been for almost 60 years. It's what makes it so demoralising! The club has major problems; the last 3 or 4 managers have presided over teams that can neither defend nor score and the frequency and scale of thrashings is increasing.
I hope that the planning for the return to the Championship is well advanced and that we can build a squad that can perform competently and consistently for the next foray into the Premier League.
'If you have to depend on the Villa defence for clean sheets, your bed will be crawling with bed bugs ...'
Steve[wondering whether Pepe Reina threw his head in his hands after the first goal; and promptly dropped it ...]

You’re not alone!
Most (OK, not all) footy fans have been through the same.
I remember my team crawling out of the 3rd division, or whatever they call it now, in the play off final, winning in extra time, on penalties.
Keep the faith, Holte ender!

Well tonight’s home game City v Arsenal was called off late last night due to some of Arsenal’s players being in self isolation after potentially being exposed to the Coronavirus.
Seems their 14 day self isolation finishes tomorrow. They have however played 2 games in the previous 10 days, against Portsmouth and West Ham.
Struggling to get my head round that one 🤔.
No issue with the match being off though, probably the 1st of many.

I remember that joke first surfacing about the time that Peter Knowles quit football for religion ...
'Have you heard that Villa have signed Peter Knowles? Not to play for them, just to pray for them ...'
And, all these years later, nothing much has changed! Although, Villa are on their longest unbeaten run of the season - must be nearly 3 weeks

For those that are having withdrawal symptoms because there's no football going on perhaps they could sit down and enjoy The English Game on Netflix, about the start of professional football centre around Blackburn and Darwin.
Maybe this should be in the Entertainment Section.
