Some things that I like on C&MH Club Sites
My first choice is normally a CC site if there is one where I wish to be and they make up 50% of my approximately 22 sites when touring. (I also spend two weeks on a CC site in December but that is purely for convenience and location for a winter chill out.
There are some reasons that CC sites are first choice - some less important than others. Not in order these are :-
1. 12 O'Clock arrival rather than 1pm on many sites.
2. On most sites regular size dustbins by waterpoints. I want to get rid of rubbish as it accumulates and not store until the next time I leave site depositing in shoulder height bins by the exit.
3. Privacy cubicles which for me are required in preference.
4. Showers where I can regulate temperature.
5. General clientele on most sites.
6. Ease of booking and amending bookings.
7. Choosing my own pitch on arrival.
There are doubtless other points and I don't mention site staff or site maintenance as many sites are fine in that regard.
The few dislikes are really of no importance to me personally. One being not able to book a hardstanding. Not a problem as on sites with hard standings I have always obtained one. Happy with the all grass sites that we choose to use.

After several bad experiances with some CLs and the inconsistent methods of how some comercial sites are run and the "extras"on top of the advertised as their headline prices, We now only use club sites for the ease of booking nothing hidden ,and the cosistant normally high standard of each site, which we find far easier on our nervous system these days

Being able to book just one night on a site is an advantage and as it should be, in my view. Lack of both restrictive booking practices and the fuss of deposits are what leads me to this club rather than the other as my first choice. This club has a superbly simple and efficient online booking system. It surprises me they do it so well in view of the state of other parts of the website.
On site the cleanliness and standard of facilities is a big plus along with the general standard of sites.
I agree with Easy about waste bins. Not everyone is able to hoist the heavy lids on the huge bins or able to walk to the site entrance (C&CC Scone is a shocker for that). Also, 1200 arrival is good for me.

We're not wedded to using club sites - we use CLs and C&CC sites much more often these days. But when we do use them I can't think of a single thing I dislike - I wouldn't use them if there were. The big plus for us is the all inclusive pricing structure, you know exactly where you are with club sites.
I particularly like, in low season, being able to book up the night before and head up to Cirencester solo or with the dog (s) - great value on a great site.

Another thing I like about this club’s sites is the inclusivity. There is no segregation by age of member or unit, no compulsion to keep pets separate and so on. We’re free to pitch where we like barring any constraints brought about by the size of our units.
M, I reckon you’ve got an odds on favourite there 😂

I like the ease of booking , and in a way you know what you are going to get when you get there , but other makes of site are out there and we use them
I also like the fact that if someone strays from the rules there will be someone running to the warden to let them know

M, how bad do you need the money?
actually I also agree with pretty much everything Alan has said...the things he mentions are what they do well.

I am not sure I could argue with any of the points that Alan makes as it generally sums up my own views. We do use the other Club's sites and we do use Commercial sites but when doing so you tend to long for the simplicity of how the CMC does things.
Number 5 interested me as I am sure that a lot of people value the fact they will be, as they see it, with like minded people who prefer a more rules based environment? It may well be the main decision for some members not moving away from Club sites?

I am not sure that there are not as many rules on other sites David, As far as I see there are.

None of the points Alan (ET) mentions are of particular interest to me. There nice to have but not essential. If we are talking sites rather than service then for me it is:
1. Ease of access
2. Size and spacing of pitches
3. Ambience of sites (clean and tidy)
4. The Consistency of the above across the network
Those are the ones that leap out for me

well the club staff would say that wouldnt they, probably people who have lived in the sterilised world of the club for many years and as a sweetner to thank you for using the site although it was not up to club specifications, did they offer you a discount?, and if the site is not up to LA standards why are they using it before doing what is necessary, surely this is illegal. If Bingham was not up to LA standards i have to say there are many more that i have stayed on that should be def closed down

Not used the site but members have said that some of the awning pitches had insufficient separation and I believe that those pitches are presently non awning. No idea beyond that

yup I know the club hold great store in the seperation rule, for good reason. I dont know what the rules are and i dont know how legally binding they are from an LA perspective, but i have been on sites in the UK that do not adhere to the club standard, by any stretch of the imagination.

not that i want to advertise Bingham but take a look at a brief summary of a review of the site from UK campsite which tends to back up what i have been saying
We have just got back from a 10 night stay at Bridport Bingham Grange. This was our 13th or 14th stay there. We have been visiting the site twice a year ever since it was a privately owned Adult Only site and must admit, we were a little apprehensive when the CMC purchased it in 2018 and made it ‘family friendly’. We still went there in June and September 2018 and not many changes had taken place, so we were wondering what to expect on our first visit this year.
The showers and toilets are always immaculately clean and plenty to go around. You never have to queue. The Buzzards Restaurant is on site, although we didn’t get to use it this time around.

Not necessarily. In fact, almost certainly not illegal. However, you’re wandering off topic as that’s not among things we like on club sites and 5 posts in a row means you’re in danger of dominating the thread.
I like the way the warden’s often have tubs or hanging baskets of glorious blooming plants around Reception. It brings a smile to my face.

I love the way you always know what standard to expect when you visit a club site
I should not have posted this, clearly this is not true in the case of Bingham Grange, and the club are still charging top dollar despite all the apologies to punters re poor facilities, no wifi etc, as per reviews on the club web site. But i have to say the club standard of cleanliness in toilets/showers is very good, even at Bingham Grange apparently.
