Here's hoping that your OH's move comes off soon Bakers. Will it make things easier for you when he is in Basildon?
Hope that you can get things with your dad's accommodation sorted out soon, Moulesy. All the best for your operation tomorrow.
Last day for us at the club's Thetford site. We walked back to Lydford Arboretum from the site today. Had a long chat with the "resident bird feeder" who was a mine of information. Still no Hawfinches, though.
The site's stating to fill up for the weekend so time we were away....off to a new CL in darkest Hertfordshire in the morning.

Best wishes to all patients, and to Trikey!
No zoo today, Mum and I went fabric hunting instead. Nice day here, hope it lasts as I want to get back in the garden.
We are also all packed and ready for the off, hoping to do a Dales tour if things work out. However...........one tiny tricky little hold up at the moment. The interior plumbing of one of our blasted hounds is currently defective, so we are enjoying two hourly alarms overnight at the moment, and no way am I holidaying in a small space with a less than bunged up Labrador! It’s self inflicted as well, so I have no sympathy.😂

Not doing too well on getting the van ready for our holiday starting Monday, too many other things to do as well!
Yesterday and today we were looking after Callum in the afternoons, so only the mornings to do other things. Today I had a bay window curtain rail to bend to shape and fix in place, not easy to get it the right shape!
Tomorrow, Saturday and Sunday will be working on cleaning and packing the van, if we get it done in good time we will go down to DD to say goodbye as we will be away for 4 weeks. Most likely Callum will be walking before we get back.
No sign of any Scarlet Fever yet, hopefully he has avoided it.

All the best with your colonoscopy moulesy. I hope all goes well and that the result is good. I hope you get the finances for your Dad's accommodation sorted out. Pleased to hear that he has settled in well. It sounds as though he could become a ladies man!! Also pleased to hear that your brother is home at last.
Enjoy the IOW Trikey. You deserve it.
I hope you mange to get away to The Dales TDA with both dogs with good plumbing!
Bakers2 you must be absolutely exhausted. What a roller coaster. I do feel for you. Very best wishes to you both.

Thank you for your continuing good wishes. Getting Basildon will/was little different to getting to Broomfield. Parking is the issue, my parking permit for Basildon, reduced price parking, runs out Monday so I expect OH won't go until after then 😉. I go early and just take my time finding a space. Broomfield is a 12 minute walk and 20 minute bus ride away, so little difference in journey times. I now take the car instead of the walk parking as close as I can to the road where I catch the bus. Luckily we have a residents parking permit so visitors use our drive and we use the street if necessary and it includes the area nearest the bus road 😃. I am beginning to feel tired but I concentrate on visiting, feeding myself preferably as easily as possibly Broomfield has an M&S so my microwave has never had so much use! Essential jobs, very few 😂😂. Friends are coming today, whether I'm here or not to cut our grass, not been done at all this year so won't be easy 😲 I'm very grateful for the offer and help. Other friends offer assistance and I'll take offers up when necessary. We are so lucky.
Mousley finding care for folks isn't easy and funding a huge expense and help towards it scant. I'm glad your dad has settled. My father in law, he and MIL great dancers, was never short of partners, cakes and offers for all sorts of things after losing his wife 😂. I hope you dad enjoys the attention.
Tricky glad you've enjoyed Concorde and are off to IoW. I know you'll enjoy it regardless but maybe there'll be a CTer to meet up with.
KjellNN fingers crossed you've passed the incubation period for scarlet fever. I'm sure you'll be ready for trip away regardless of whether standards regarding cleaning are not quite as high as usual. I've learned what's important and cleaning ain't up there! Enjoy your grandson and have a great trip you have certainly earned it 😃.
Nellie enjoy Hertfordshire where are you based?
TTDA fabric shopping, nice, another project? I hope you get away.
Time to shift from my bed 😂😂 I'm indulging myself!
Enjoy your day folks, apologies if I missed you out - no offence meant!

It's an exciting day today - new car day!
It's a 4 month old Discovery and seems to have a lot of features to get to grips with. The actual driving will be similar to our current one (except it's an eight speed gear box). So we can take our time learning what does what.
I've just done a final sweep of our old car (boot and cubby holes are now empty), Deleted User our phones, and removed all previous destinations from the Sat Nav.
It will probably be the last "big" car we buy, and should, as they say "last us out"!
Roll on 3 0'clock!

An exciting day Goldie 😃. You've got the right idea so many bells and whistles on our new one. I've turned some off now I've got to grips with things! Be careful as you drop your car off - like you we emptied every nook and cranny, checked it twice, drove to the garage and OH got a tad too close the the pole supporting the chain link fence 😯😯, luckily nothing to see!
Oneputt have a lovely time at Barleywood, forecast is at least dry so hopefully some good wildlife watching!
I'm supposed to be doing paperwork, especially accounts, easily distracted 😯😯.

We should be out in the van getting on with things, but the weather is not great, very windy and It has just started to pour with rain.
I think I will go and sort my boxes of stuff first!
The cleaning should not take too long with 2 of us, I do under the beds etc, windows and cupboard doors, OH does the fridge, cooker, sink etc and the bathroom, though the shower will have to wait till we get to our first site as water cannot drain from it due to the angle of the van on the driveway. We usually clean it well at our last site, so other than a bit of dust, it is not bad.
We had an electrical emergency in the house on Wednesday, strong smell of burning was tracked down to our en suite bathroom extractor fan, so it had to be disconnected. It is the last of the original ones, so has done 31 years service.
No time to order and fit a new one right now, so I have taken one from a bathroom we rarely use and I will sort it out when we get home. The ones we have operate on overrun timers, thinking to get one with a humidistat, but not sure.

We had a night at home on Wednesday for my next 24hr monitor came back yesterday after returning it to hospital, when out with Rosa at home noticed 3 very large oak trees were down ,evidently it was due to very strong wind last Sunday, also tree surgeons were working on another at the bottom of our road they showed me where about 40ft up one of the large branches had a big split which meant it would have to be removed it must be about 4ft diameter, such a shame the have all been there since the early 1700s

Gosh, I wish we had your commitment to house DIY Kjell, I am far too easily distracted by garden and other things I prefer doing.
The hound from hell’s innards appear to be mending up thank goodness. He’s lost that mournful “why me” look this morning, and thankfully we all had a decent nights sleep without interruption. He’ll be into more mischief later no doubt.
Enjoy your new car Goldie. Doesn’t half take a while to get used to all the technology and gadgets. Some are super useful, but a few can be a pain in the bum at times.
Hope you have a positive day Bakers. Catch up later.....😃

Very sad when old trees come down, they have lived through such times. We are keeping an eye on our beech trees, they will need some work this year.........we shall recycle the wood, it will keep us warm next Winter.

It will probably be the last "big" car we buy and should, as they say, last us out.
Oh Goldie, is that really likely to be the case ??
.
The reason I ask is I said that to the sales man when I bought my Duckortwo five years ago, he burst out laughing & left me to talk to the bank's credit card security people
.
I've taken to strolling round just the accessory stalls at N E C but when I get a m-home magazine I find I'm spending more & more time in the "This Months Tests" section

Hope the new purchase will be a good one Goldie, it will take a while to figure out all the new things.
We too reckon we are on our last big car, and last caravan, just hoping the van will hang on for several more years yet. Car is only 2 1/2 but van is 11 years old.
We did say the same when we bought the Volvo XC90 back in 2007, expecting it to do us for about 15 years, but it was disappointingly unreliable, which is unusual for a Volvo. Since 1971 we have had a total of 9 Volvos between us and this one had more go wrong with it than all the others put together!
The last straw was an intermittent fault that nobody could diagnose, so we decided it had to go. So far, the VW has been excellent, but it is early days yet.
We still have to look up the handbook for some things, and the sat nav is not easy to get to grips with.

Home from our short trip away, really enjoyable. I don't seem to have any problem with the SatNav, Kj. Just as long as she's in the car with me.
Woke up during the middle of the night with Gout in my heel and for the first time in my ribcage. Good timing as we're home for the next 10 days or so. Can't really complain as it's the first attack I've had in 2 years. Hope it's another 2 years before the next though.
Good luck with the new car Goldie. Mrs WN loves that "New Car' smell as she calls it.
Still thinking of you Bakers. If only the well wishing could be turned into practical assistance.
Those away, enjoy your time.

The new car is home safely. So far we've paired our phones and used the windscreen wipers. So, I'm now going to sit in it and try to figure out how to add our Home Location in the Sat Nav (in case we get lost coming back from getting a Takeaway tonight).
But what has impressed me most in the short time we've had it, is the sound system. I set it to play from my phone and heard a sound in a song I had never heard before (on an album I've had for 15 years).
For the nerds - Absent Friends by The Divine Comedy - the sound of a motor bike in a line about Steve McQueen)

Always pays to be thorough when emptying you old car. I left my hiking boots in a cubby hole in the Kuga when I sold it.

Glad to hear things going well with the new car Goldie. I have always like the Discovery never had one though .
We are away in the caravan this weekend just local. Arrived on site just after 5 and it was surprisingly busy the weather here just now is pretty good for the time of year so maybe people have taken the opportunityy to get their vans out for their fiest trip of the season.

This going on holiday is hard work!
Weather finally cleared up after lunch, so we spent the afternoon cleaning inside the van and sorting bits and pieces. Now ready for packing, some stuff looked out and lined up in the hall ready to be taken to the van, separate pile for stuff that goes in the car.
More stuff, bedding, clothes and food, still to organise, but will need to deal with the stuff in the hall first or we will not be able to open the front door.

B2, we're on a new CL, Mill End Plants, Rushden, Buntingford although I think that it's actually nearer Baldock.
The site is full tonight and the owner was saying that he had to turn away other customers. It was an easy run down from Thetford, but a bit traumatic when we arrived on site. Being new the gravel has not settled and the instead of using the mover I drove too far off the surface and the van sank into the gravel. It took the help from the the other caravanners, along with the mover, to extricate it from the pit it made!! However all was right in the end, the site is nice and quiet and there are good dog walks directly it. It will certainly suit us fine for the 4 days we're here.

I am tempted to throw in too much stuff but the van gets cleaned after each trip and one big clean a year. That said we've discovered a leak from a washroom pipe so now have carpet to dry out.
Hope you have a good time away Kj.
Enjoy the car Goldie!

We have about 3 weeks before we go away. I have pencilled in next Thursday and Friday for cleaning as the weather is forecast calm and mild. Caravan washed a couple of weeks ago in a spell of warm weather. Just need to run the vac round, dust and clean windows etc. and maybe give it a quick polish. Car to wash as well and torque and tyre pressures.
Not much packing for me as plenty of tee shirts etc on board. Just trousers and sweatshirts to pack.
Also I have to pack the car, Not something I normally do as it usually stays packed in holiday mode. Because I was helping a friend to move home a couple of months ago rear seats are down and all usual stuff removed.
