Yes I agree OP. It was a beautiful sunny morning first thing but the wind took us by surprise - gosh it was cold
. It has clouded over now though

We have just had a hailstorm with hailstones the size of marbles
. Now the sun is out. What strange weather.

Took myself for a drive to Shakerley Mere, 'tween Holmes Chapel & Knutsford and along side the M6, for some fresh air this morning. A few hardy souls walking pups of medium to small size, but by the time I'd topped up the old feeders there and looked for the waterbirds I was utterly p-p-perished, and the new specs were blacker than the Earl of Hell's Weskit !!
Felling a lot warmer now, but according to the footy match its been sleeting in MK so I'm trusting David K & OH are both warm n dry

We are just home from a lovely 8 days away in the van. We were at Southport Club site for 5 night that was the first time we had stayed at the site and it was very good handy for the beach and the town and easy reach of the shops ect. Our van was then booked in at Campbells in Preston for a warranty repair on the fridge so we spent some time in Preston while the job was getting done luckily it didn't take long and the fridge is working again. We don't normally use CLs but we found a lovely little one called Laithes Lodge just outside Blackpool so stayed there for our final 3 nights. If anyone is in the area I highly recommend it the owners were nice and it was within easy reach of the M55 £17 per night nice views ans a toilet and shower on site too. We normally go to the club site in Blackpool but will be using the CL in future. Had a 4 hour drive home today a bit windy on the motorway but not too bad. Away again on Friday for a couple of nights just local.

Exhausted after our 25 mile drive to Wirral CP.
Went for a walk along the beach as tide out. Boy, talk about brass monkeys. Wind coming whistling down the Dee estuary. Van nice and sheltered though. Apparently there was 2 trees down on site yesterday and some H/s pitches flooded. A rally had to be cancelled. Quite a few on site.
DK - I retired at 46 when recommended to do so by specialists but had 30 years NI in by retirement. Have had forecasts but since finding I needed to make more contributions. Fortunately retirement has been kind to me.😊
Shame about Ely cathedral Helen. Lovely place. Nice area.

Visiting family today, noticed the camel is back on the M5 northbound, as you can see from my interesting post I haven't had to do much today.
Nice to hear of other trips and visits. Another fan of Ely here, I have been right up on the roof, it was so scary I just leant back against it and prayed for the history lesson to be over!

It's been a nice day generally in MK, I have not been as far south as Stadium MK!!! We had a nice family lunch out today at a Thai Restaurant as it was Margaret's birthday on Thursday so didn't really notice the weather although it was cold. Touch and go if number two son would make it as he has been working on Australian time for the last four days covering the Australian GP from the UK end IT wise, he did make it.

Glad to hear the camel is back!
Woke up to glorious sunshine, then a huge cloudburst, but luckily that was it for the day, back to sun and dry thank goodness. Managed to get out into garden this afternoon, did some weeding, and helped OH put one of my new rose arches into place. Already got clematis coming along nicely, two up each side. Hoping second one will go in Tuesday, but having a bit of a think about a big grape vine, wondering if I dare cut it right back. Could be kill or cure this one. Forecast for week looks better, dryer but colder. So much stuff coming up now, and hedges need sorting, birds are getting frisky....... pond full of frogspawn.

I’ve missed seeing that camel and its offspring.
I wonder if wicker man has a new head yet? The birds had been at him last time I was up that way.

We've had similar, millie, sunshine then dark cloud followed by the hail, but only for a few minutes. Still a chill wind blowing this afternoon, though it's nice and calm now.
We moved across the the CC's Thetford site, which is reasonably empty with plenty of choise of pitch. Had no problems getting a H/S one right by the service points so it'll be wash day again tomorrow!!

I can't say the camel looked in tip top condition but I know he used to get loaned out for weddings etc., it was nice to see him! Poor old wicker man is looking a bit worse for wear but is hanging on in, probably fairly strong when thinking of the fierce winds last week.
Was the camel pink (he's now camel coloured) or have I been drinking too much tea?

Too much tea I think!😁 I can only recall it camel coloured. Remember the little camel as well though.

I had a feeling it was blue, but that might have been the little one.🤔

Have you checked to see if your library does internet down loads AD? Ours does. Rather peculiarly, I am able to “borrow” a download audiobook onto our Mac book. Then all I do is connect up my iPod and it’s on there until I delete it. Like you, we enjoy listening to something sometimes, rather than having a TV on. I also like to sit in the sun with a pair of headphones on while someone reads me a story! Turning pages can be so tedious sometimes😂
OH has subscribed to Kobo audio book downloads, puts them onto his iPad. Don’t think it is much for a book per month.

We did like Ely, it was a shame the weather wasn't good, it was so windy, will have to visit again when the weather is calmer.

Woke up to non forecasted rain so we swapped days and caught the train to Liverpool. Went to the Walker Art Gallery (free) to see the drawings that they've been allocated of Leonardo da Vinci's. If anyone intends going to any of the 8 other locations where others are being displayed then I would recommend taking a magnifying glass. I have no idea how he managed to get so much detail into so small an area. Now thinking of going to one of the two grand showings at either London or Edinburgh towards the end of the year.
We had a bite to eat in the city then Mrs WN invested in more Pens for her art work and a specialist bottle of ink. We hope to visit a place in South Wales when down that way at the end of next month that stocks over 600 different inks alone, never mind the pens! Saving up.
The site has filled up since this morning. Looks like it rained all day here but on and off in Liverpool.

Arrived home this afternoon, enjoyed our few days near Ely.
Visted Houghton Mill yesterday, the dog enjoyed his walk on the water Meadows. We had a hail shower too, and some lovely sunshine, funny weather.
It was the first milling of the season yesterday so bought some of the Wholemeal flour. The caravan site was very quiet, I can see why you like the site Millie.
Finished off the trip with a second visit to Wicken Fen this morning, CL owner said we could leave anytime, so made the most of the sunshine this morning.

Not too bad a day for weather here, caravan now safely back on the driveway, and the service bill was less than expected too.
Now the work starts as we have only 6 days to get the van cleaned and loaded ready for our trip up north, plus we have 2 afternoons looking after Callum and some things to finish off at DD's house.
Some rather worrying news this morning. At the weekend DD had 2 parties for Callum's birthday.....friends plus babies on Saturday and family including several children on Sunday.....and this morning one of her friends rang to say that her baby girl had just been diagnosed with Scarlet Fever, so was infectious at the time of the Saturday party.
Scarlet Fever is very infectious and is apparently on the increase, a doubling of cases in one year, and it seems Callum has a 30% chance of coming down with it, and may even have passed it on to some of the children at the Sunday party.
It is a disease which I thought had almost died out after being very common some 70-80 years back, but apparently not so.

Sorry to hear about the scarlet fever scare Kj. I hope it works out OK.
Glad you got to Houghton Mill Helen but a pity about the weather. We already have 1 week booked there and I expect more to come! We are off to FM for a few days next week to try out our new air awning. OH started to get the van ready today.
My little car passed its MOT today which was a pleasant surprise. However I have an optician sppt on Friday which could prove expensive

KjellNN fingers crossed your grandson and other guests don't catch scarlet fever.
More rollercoaster riding over the weekend 😲😲. OH had 2 cardiac arrests on Friday afternoon. Son 'flew' down I told him I'm not paying any speeding fines 😂 we stayed Friday & Saturday overnight as he was placed on end of life care. Saturday he awoke alert and ate and drank his way through the day, this continued and he is now the ward miracle. Staff have been amazing to us and him. Son happy to return home tonight as OH really doing well eating and drinking and talking far more than after the op. Sadly CPR broke a couple of ribs and opened up some of his chest wound which was healing nicely but majority already healed.
I'm off to bed now exhausted!
Glad others enjoyed their breaks.

Went and checked the van for our long weekend trip starting Friday. Then to see Grandtwins. A grab truck came to take all the spoil that daughter had wheeled barrowed from the the rear of the house, the final total was 15 tons. Truck left then a skip arrived so helped daughter to fill that with rubble.
Took grandtwins onto the Marshes by their house. The children were thrilled to see a distant Short Eared Owl, lots of Sky Lark activity also a couple of Chinese Water Deer.

It's our 3rd or 4th time here, OP. A great little site with good walks for Flyte, and surprisingly quiet. Had a great night's sleep last night!! Went to Lydford today, enjoyed a good walk as far as the Stag Car Park and spent a bit of time watching the Bramblings &Yellowhammers feeding at the centre.

The same goes for us too, B2. All our thoughts go out to you. Keep strong.

Good news for both of you, millie and Kjell, that MOT and service are done and your both soon getting out and about in your vans.
Glad that you had a good time at Ely, H&T. We must stay over there some time in the future.
We've talked about going to see some of the Di Vinci drawing some time but don't know if we'll be anywhere close enough for long enough to fit in a visit, WN. Glad that you had a good day in Liverpool today.
