Deposits
Director general view "focus for 2019 will be to make further improvements and changes, taking into account member feed back" is this a pre warning of deposits.👍

It could mean anything at all. Perhaps improved dog walks, MHSPs available to non-stayers, families pitching together… I could go on and on. Why automatically think of deposits?

Judging by the AGM minutes it unfortunately means more serviced pitches. For me the Club is moving in the wrong direction and if money was an issue, I would definitely give up my membership at the next renewal. As it is, it all depends on how much use I can make of its services during 2020. This seems to be less and less with each passing year.

We are going back to the old name and logo.

Which member's viewpoint is it that they will take into account?
One way or the other what would constitute a majority worthy of change and how could that be determined? Oh no, we already have the 'B word' and now possibly the 'D word'.

They don't want to be doing that....look where the last Yes/No referendum has go to!!

Asked you about what, though?
There have been various surveys on differing topics, such as the magazine, and it’s only Hooker’s thoughts that the comment refers to deposits. It could be about anything but the OP picked on an issue guaranteed to promote discussion.

Still waiting on Rowena, deposits or no deposits that is the question, just a simple no would suffice and not some fuzzy response or waffle.

Try emailing her, Hooker.

the things is due to the non replies:
a) she doesn't know and can't tell
b) she knows and can't tell
c) been told not to respond to any questions about new developments
c) can't be bother to answer

d) knows it’s a poster on a wind-up.

We have had many site surveys this year which I assume is what you mean where you are able to go into more detail about a whole series of things? Funnily enough we didn't get one for the last site we stayed at, Warwick Racecourse, nor sure why but perhaps because of the limited opportunities do much about the site? Having said all that they don't ask specifically about deposits but of course members are able to add their own views and perhaps a lot are demanding deposits?

I think the Club randomly selects a number of mermbers for a general survey about the Club. I had one this year, meant to keep a copy but forgot and as a consequence I have forgotten the questions and how I replied. Pretty sure I did not mention deposits (I tend to fill them in too quickly with perhaps not enough thought) but if asked again I most certainly would be suggesting them.

But your not paying anything extra it comes off total price of stay

I don't mind at all David. This year I paid £260 in deposits to C&CC and non club sites. I also paid £108 in full for one site that I wanted. A total of £368.
If there was a minimum booking charge of £25 and charges similar to C&CC I would have paid a further £375. That would have been a total of about £740.
If I look back at 2015 the pattern was a higher proportion of club sites that would indeed probably have amounted to £550 deposits if in line with the other club plus around £120 for commercial site bookings.
Deposits would not have made any difference to my usage. It might affect those with families wishing to book however who might have tighter finances. If CC were to go down this route I would hope that they would provide for a reasonable cancellation period.
Deposits will not solve any problems of lack of weekend availability. I live on an estate of probably 1000 bungalows and dormer extensions on some. When I moved here 30 years ago I drove round the estate and ours was one of only two caravans evident. Now I regularly see or drive past about 300 of these properties and I know that there are more than 7 caravans or motorhomes just in these. In general whether you tour, go away for a week and include weekends at each side or are a weekender you are in the majority and want weekends. Deposits will not free these up.

The trouble with that is who does the Club listen to? Personally I think they should listen to everyone but if the see a pattern evolving where when commenting on a stay at a Club site in one of these site surveys they mention how much difficulty they have had booking the site in the first place or had difficulty getting the length of stay these could be the members mentioning deposits. Given that we have not had a robust denial that deposits are on the table, as we have had in the past, we are still no further forward in whether they will become a reality?
