So sorry to hear about your son robsail.  I do hope things are looking up for him today. Best wishes for Christmas.

I hope you are feeling better Bakers2 and that you had a good day yesterday with the right clothes. laughing

I hope you had a good birthday Goldie.  I love your cake.

Nice to hear from you Helen.  I hope you have a good Christmas with your family.

We went to a wonderful Christmas concert in the Cathedral last night.  The music and choirs were fabulous and it was great fun.  Only slightly spoiled by the fact that we drove home in absolutely torrential rain - the roads were awash. It is a lovely bright morning now though.

Robsail so sorry to hear about your son. Hope it all works out ok, that'll be the best Christmas present ever, dont worry about the material things! Best wishes for Christmas and a healthy 2019 for you and your family. I hope you manage some R&R for yourself. Don't forget the importance of who cares for the carer!!

After that I feel slightly ashamed to post that I felt fine yesterday and enjoyed a great day out. Yes I did manage the right clothes to wear, but took extra layers as scarf's and hats 😉, but it was a very mild windy day. Nice walk along Kensingston high street - packed yuck! Round a square with restrictive parking 😉😉 including diplomatic plates cars only 😯. Several Maserati Porsche and Lamborghini among the ordinary spaces! Glanced in an estate agents, as you have to, rents between £3,500 and £8,000 a week 😱😱. Then had a lovely couple of hours in the V&A. Then onto Kew arriving about 3/4 of an hour before our allocated time. Allowed in so almost 3 hours to wander. Very pretty and we enjoyed it. We have been to the NT abbey in Cambridge (name refuses to be recalled embarassed) and thought Kew was just bigger with planes. Bitterly disappointed outdoor plant sales not available as I wanted a winter sweet as posted by brue on another thread! Traffic was great in each leg of the journey even when heavy it was moving freely. Made good time coming back and was very surprised when I went into the conservatory about 30 minutes after we got in to find it was pouring!

Milliehull your concert sounds wonderful, shame about the journey home.

DSB we were surprised at the amount of cars in our Tesco as we got off the coach, limited parking times cos it's been abused!, about 10pm and that's a 24 hour store.

We still have fresh bits to do tomorrow or Monday. Off to take bits to mum, check on motorhome and call on friends to drop off card as we go around. Bright here.

Did the bedding first thing, washing machine has marked it all 😤😤😤. So redone and about to check it and hopefully give it a blow. Just 4 pieces didn't get marked!

    Enjoy your day folks

I have always wondered if people go shopping at that time of night!!! Not for me as usually tucked up in bed before then. On Thursday we couldn't go to Waitrose in the morning so delayed it until about 4.30 in the afternoon. Seems to be a totally different crowd shopping then, pushing and shoving! Trying to have a chat to a former colleague was almost impossiblewink

I was out carol singing last night, don't usually do it but decided to join in the fray around the village, ended up in the pub, as usual. Didn't know that some houses put in special requests, anyway all happy with the results and collection. Good fun, croaky voice this morning.

Robsail I hope you and yours have a healthy and peaceful Christmas after the latest events. My best wishes to you.

Good luck with all the shopping everyone, we've got neighbours who go in at the last minute on Christmas Eve for the bargain food, my nerves wouldn't stand it! wink

Brue I really miss the village carol singing, we used to do it over about 3 nights.

Robsail hope your son recovers quickly.

Bright sunny day here in East Norfolk.  All shopping done, pressies wrapped so now just about ready for the fun and games.🎅🏻🌞🎅🏻

Robsail, I really hope that things turn better for you and your family. Best wishes. As B2 says, make sure you look after the carer as well.

After midnight shopping brought back a lovely memory of our elderly neighbour friend who sadly passed away this year. She used to play bridge at a club 2 evenings a week and always popped into our local Tesco about 11.30 at night to do her shopping, on the basis that she could park in the disabled spot right outside the door and there was always a member of staff willing to help her, both walking around the store and then loading the car, which would be left until the morning in the garage until yours truly unpacked for her. She was still doing this at 91. Her teenage neighbours used to moan about her coming home late at night.Lol.laughing

Picked up the last of the shopping from M&S this morning. Plenty of trolley rage going on but we were quite chilled and so everything went smoothly.
Cleaned the front windows before lunch. 30 minutes later a flying rat flew into the main window.yell About to go and clean it again.

We used to get Carol singers around from the village but even the Lions Santa truck doesn't come into the close these days, just someone with a tin for collection. Which reminds me that we haven't yet seen him this year.

It was a wonderful Birthday yesterday. After the arrival of the cake (previous post), things got better and better.OH and I had a lovely long relaxed lunch with an old friend and husband. We were born in the same hospital two days apart, met up at ballroom dancing lessons and then at High School. 70 years on and can talk about anything to each other.

While we were out our son transformed the wilderness under a front window into a place for me to sit and watch farm life go by.

    Totally gobsmacked!

Then the arrival of younger son and family, and a celebratory meal next door.

By getting up at 4 am our daughter and family were here in time for breakfast.

Tonight we’re treating everyone to a meal at our favourite restaurant.

And if you were wondering about my husbands present - it’s on my wrist

Are you thinking of Anglesey Abbey Bakers2? We went to their Winter Lights display a few weeks ago.  It was wonderful. I am glad you had a good day out yesterday.  I have walked down Kensington High Street and the surrounding area when in London.  It is a different world isn't it!!

Daughter and I did the Aldi food shop yesterday morning.  Although the shop was fairly busy we got the car parked and also a trolley with no trouble - amazing. OH and I went to our local Van Hage garden centre this morning as they have a lovely deli area and that was reasonably quiet as well. I don't know whether people are spreading their shopping over various days or whether they are just not spending as much money. Mind you we do have a lot of supermarkets these days.

Goldie glad to hear you had a wonderful day. You were spoilt and treated in a different way to your other half. What a fabulous gift from your son and family, something you'll be able to enjoy for a long time. As you will the one you're wearing.

Milliehull yes of course it Anglesey Abbey, sooooo embarrassing embarassed. We must get back there have to be promoted early! I thought it was magical. Glad to hear it still is.

It's been several years since we've explored that area of London, it always was another world but I think that's magnified even more these days. Wasn't impressed with Harrod's windows, they were always fabulous. The uniformed doorman was gone soon after 4pm, and only one door, standards are dropping. In fact I looked at many windows and all that came to mind was landfill 😱😱😱.

Not done our fresh food shopping yet, will walk tomorrow. We commented on the amount of folks around yesterday and recently in town but how few had bags of shopping - maybe they've all but small gifts!

B2. I'm planning a London visit in the New Year, finally got myself a senior railcard as it will also be useful if I have to travel up north to see the family too. A few year back we parked in the underground car park near Harrods and it was another world of v expensive mostly moth balled cars! I was interested in your Kew visit as I'd like to see the lights there another time...mind you I'd like to visit at anytime in the winter, hoping it won't be quite as busy!

For some unknown reason OH decided to put some coving up in one of our rooms today (covering up cracks I think wink) so our tidy house went kaput. Then two sets of visitors arrive unexpectedly, as they do!

Goldie, your birthday sounded lovely, the wilderness clearing looked a real surprise. Hope you've all enjoyed your meal out tonight.

The concert sounded good Millie. smile

Fairly busy day, quick trip to the supermarket  nice and early so it was quiet. Then to the Farm Shop to collect my meat order, shop was very busy but they have a good system for collections.

Finished the topping on the Choc Orange Cheesecake that had been setting in the fridge, then made filling for the pork, apple and Stilton pie, and made Coleslaw with the sprouts, only way I can eat them  😂😂

Had a cheeky walk this afternoon along the new path the builders have started in what will be a new park when new houses are finished. It should make a really nice walk when finished.

Youngest son popped in this afternoon,  big news he has accepted a new job with the BBC at Media City.☺

Goldie & Bakers2 glad  you both enjoyed your day.☺

Millie, your evening sounds lovely, well apart from the weather. 😄

Robsail,  really hope things improve for you son  wishing you all the best.

Sadly  I've  not  seen  a  "Santa"   sleigh,  truck  or  even  a  Carol  Singer  or  three  round  here  for  a  couple  of  years  now  so  I  guess  the  Lions  are  back  in  the  Serengeti  again.

Robsail,  not  making  light  of  your  recent  problems,  but  could  you  make  a  comment  about  the  Hospital  catering  on  something  like  "Trip  Adviser" --  undecided.

Just popped into Aldi this evening, wasn't too bad.  I was expecting it to be chaotic, but it wasn't too bad, and folks were in good humour!  Had to apologise to people for going the wrong way up the aisle when everyone else seemed to be coming the opposite way.  Then a chap apologised to me for blocking the way to the drinks aisle.  I told him, not to worry. I was quite happy having a rest.  I said to the chap stacking the shelves that he looked as if he'd had enough of it all - he told me he'd only got another ten minutes.  I told him I wanted to go home!!!  😀😀😀

Oh yes they will laughing Have a lovely time Brue.

Popped into town, met up with son and his girlfriend for coffee. Had another mooch around Millets for the closing down bargains, son bought a few OS maps which were heavily reduced.  Then off to the retaik park as OH treated himself to a new sound system which he is now assembling. Fingers crossed it works, and doesn't annoy the neighbours laughing

Mrs WN took her mother to a local garden centre that has a good craft section. She said that numerous people were overheard in ths cafe saying that they couldn't get into our shopping outlet at Broughton as it aas full and they were turning cars away. Apparently the local Asda was gridlocked.

I'm going nowhere today. Enjoy the panto Brue.

Are you not wrapping his present then Helen?smile

We visited M&S in town this morning to collect an order. At just before 10 am the car parks weren't bad and free today.😀 Order counter was very efficient this year, however checkouts much worse, took about 30 minutes to get through them.☹️ Glad we went reasonably early, as we came home queues were building rapidly on the roads in.
