Oh Triky how disappointing? Do you have a plan B? I do hope you manage to get to the IOW for Christmas. How about a B&B, hotel or a cottage?

I've spent a frustrating couple of hours trying to get the seasonal lights working. Why is it that although they are working fine when you pack them away, they mysteriously malfunction when retrieved?

It's called s***s law CY. All part of the joys of Christmas 😕

That's such a shame Tricky. Hope that you're able to get it all fixed without too much expense and you're able to get away again early in the New Year.

Good evening today, just successfully installed a pump on the hot water to our kitchen tap, took less than an hour and has made a big difference.
We have very low pressure on the HW to the kitchen, got even worse when we had to get a new tap, despite choosing a tap for a low pressure system. Now it is almost as good as the cold supply.
Next job here is to find out why the pump on the heating in the "granny flat" has stopped working.
Work continues at the new house, bedroom floor finished, skirtings half done, DD will be able to start hanging the wallpaper tomorrow.
Unpacking is progressing and the place is starting to look like it might be organised by Christmas.

Glad to hear that all is progressing well Kj.

Up earlier today, terrible weather, pelting with rain and windy, so builders who were due today to do some outside work probably won't appear.
Good to hear Kj and family have made progress, hope you all get a break from your work over Christmas.
Sorry to hear about the Concorde Tricky, wondered, as previously said if you can get alternative accommodation on the IOW, but hope things sort soon.

Milliehull forgot to say thanks for posting photo of card holder, I'll keep my eyes open for similar.
Very dark here, breezy but ground is drying so non tumbling washing out for a blow and hopefully dry.
KjNelln good to hear things are beginning to be sorted at your daughter's, but you obviously dont want to stop so found your own jobs 😂😉. Hopefully you'll all get a break over Christmas and the new year and it'll all be finished early in the new year.
Brue I think by the sound of it you'll be lucky to see your builders today!
Enjoy your day folks

Happy birthday Goldie 🎂🍾🎉🎊🍹. Apart from being nearer Christmas can I ask why celebrations will be nothing flashy like your OH's? I know his was a double celebration but please ensure they you have a big fuss made for you. Show them this and tell them I'll ensure they do
Bakers - OH has admitted my present to him (House Concert by Chris Difford of Squeeze - all arranged in secret) can't be matched, but a lunch with my oldest friend (two days younger than me), and a special meal for all the family at our favourite restaurant (not a Christmassy meal), and something going on next door at our son's will make up for it.
BTW - it's not till Friday - but thanks for the good wishes!
Now - back to the real world and paperwork and dinner to make

Van back to storage this morning after its 3.5 months on a seasonal at Cirencester. A bit windy, but we didn't have far to tow as we overnighted at Clumber. Now tucked away in its slot just ahead of the heavy rain, forcast for this afternoon. We really enjoyed having the seasonal, using it for most of September and several separate weeks since. The grass pitch was large, well located and reasonably drained. Only getting a little muddy this last week. As we like Cirencester and the area around, it also worked out very good value. We utilised it just under half of the possible nights available and it worked out at £10.30 a night.

Sad to hear that your Concorde won't be doing Mach 2 over the Solent for a while, Peter, best wishes for a swift repair & test run
!!
Visited Aged Sis this morning, got greeted ( and scratched ) by Alfie Cat who then parked himself on my knee -- that's my excuse for doing nothing useful while I was there
.
Best bit of news came on my 'fone an hour ago. The surgery texted their Christmas Hours & urged me to get my prescription request in PRONTO !! and that's why I'm wasting a perfectly good, sodden, windy afternoon on here
.
Now it's back to the Wrapping of Prezzies

Bits and Pieces day today. We needed some stuff from Lakeland and Rymans, both found locally in Chester. After dropping MIL off in local town for her coffee morning with a friend we drove to Chester, where I was surprised, but delighted, to find multiple free 1 hour car parkjng spaces. We did what we had to do but noticed Mountain Warehouse had a huge sale going on and Mrs WN needs a new coat so whilst she reviewed the goods I moved the car to another free 1 hour spot. It is the week before Christmas isn't it? Anyway we saved a further £10 on the coat using our CMC card.
Then off to HobbyCraft and Halfords just out of town followed by B&Q before finally wending our way home in the rain. Didn't get everything but did get things unplanned for!
Back home and the plumber was able to turn up a day early to look at our leaking shower. Made emergency repairs and relieved us of some hard earned cash, but Wow, a plumber who turns up early. As Mrs WN said "He's a keeper". I hope she was just admiring his work ethos.

I would love to have a few days off B2, but I have TWO women to keep happy these days!
OH has a list, but is allowing DD to get her stuff done first as they need to get organised for Christmas. Only essential stuff is being done here meantime, and probably until March.
I cannot see DD’s house being totally finished for many months yet.
She returns to work in February, so we are trying to get as much as possible done for her before then as she really needs to be there to make the design decisions.
Today she started the wallpapering in their bedroom, but it is not going too well, so I think I will need to help her tomorrow. Meantime I have started the tiling in their en suite bathroom so we can get their towel radiator connected.
Everything has to be done in the correct order for it all to work.
Unfortunately SIL is not into DIY, so DD has to do all that sort of stuff.

Not so good Tricky, but hopefully they will have all the parts ready and waiting when you take the M/H in. Just think of all the joy you can now have posting responses on here for the next two weeks.
Have a Happy Christmas and all the best for the New Year.

Took out a bit of an insurance policy today, purchased two bags of Rock Salt just in case the weather turns nasty anytime soon! £4.50 a bag in Homebase if anyone wants to do the same.

Brue
Ours has changed from the original Homebase to a Bennings and now back to a Homebase. I think a lot of them are closing don't know about ours. Our Council were discussing whether to remove grit bins to save some small amount of money in the scheme of things but after last winter I think they may have changed their minds.

All our grit bins were removed years ago

I think ours have been left as we are not near an official gritted route, there are only two bins in the village but luckily we are near one. Never been near or seen one in other places we have lived so maybe this is unusual?
Brr, what a thought, hope we don't need them too soon!
