When noting on friday the forecast for today,ammended our booking and came here (Tredeger House)yesterday, M5 was very busy and a big carpark south bound for about 20miles
,good job we did as it is chucking it down with rain and very windy ,there is a lot of tree debris on the house grounds,and a lot of dog poo that can only mostly be from locals although there a numerouse bins dotted arround for such,I do not think I would like to be towing in this weather today

That's a lovely sentiment OP. Whether religious or not it is always worth going to a service in a Cathedral; for the music and the wonderful atmosphere.
Brue: We went to Abbotsbury Sub Tropical Gardens some years ago when visiting my cousin and his wife who live nearby. We thought they were lovely. You will miss your outings with your grandson when they move north - though probably not trying to reach him on a rope ladder

Very windy here with squally showers. We got blown to and from the Cathedral this morning. The umbrellas weren't a lot of use in the wind. Now not sure what our plans are for this afternoon.

Years ago when we last went to Abbotsbury gardens then it was to one of the illuminated events which was really something to see.
Pretty much the same weather here Millie so won't be going far.
Anyone travelling in these gusty conditions take care.

Cathedrals, Abbeys and Churches are our Winter default tour! We put together a lovely four day tour starting at Worcester Cathedral, using Bromyard Downs first night. Then onwards to Ludlow, which has a very beautiful and interesting Church, full of original misericords and stained glass. Spent hours in the castle as well. (This is where Prince Arthur died, and hence his burial at Worcester) We used a great CL just outside Ludlow on edge of Mortimer Forest for our second night. Day three was up onto the Long Mynd ( not recommended for large MHs!) and a lovely walk up there, then down Cardingmill Valley (NT) into Church Stretton for a look around. Our last night was at lovely Much Wenlock Site (RIP, greatly missed!) and we had a look at Wroxeter Roman City, missed out Shrewsbury Abbey as we had been before (Cadfael's home territory!) and went across to Attingham House and Gardens, for a look at Walled Garden. Lots of other things to do and see, lots of War of the Roses history, Hollow Crown history. Much Wenlock Priory (EH) is great for a picnic, some interesting topiary there! We like to pack as much as possible into a short tour!

Having a lazy day here. Windy and wet weather but I'm not complaining. 😊 The garden is sighing wth relief. We've got the map book open and Google maps on the laptop as we're planning a two week tour of Wales for next year. Looking up some nice cl's and deciding which route to take and how many stops. I enjoy all the planning. 😊

We did Yorkshire to South Wales, around Pembrokeshire, up and along Coast into mid Wales and then into Shropshire last year Add. Lots to see and do, but pack your wet weather gear. Never seen rain like last September! Even the Welsh were moaning about it!

Thanks for the advice ttda. 😄 We're planning to stay in the Pembrokeshire area as we will include a visit to our friends who live near Haverfordwest. Looking at many of the cl's, they have hard standings so we'd guessed they use them for a reason. ☔️

If you are going to be in the Haverfordwest area can I recommend that you visit Castell Henllys. It is an Iron age Fort that our youngest son worked on for a few summers when he was an archaeological student some years ago now. It is a huge site with lots to see and in a beautiful part of the country.

Wales is a lovely place. So much to see and do. Probably our nicest day last September was taking the MH to Bosherton Ponds, tiny little car park, and then we and the dogs walked along the beautiful lily ponds down to Broadhaven Beach, spent a couple of hours on the beach, had a nice picnic, then ambled back up to MH and had a meal. Only afternoon of sunshine we got, but it was lovely. Despite the rain, we never stayed in, every day was somewhere different, or something else to see. Going home via Cardigan Bay and through Mid Wales was lovely as well.

TTDA - We were meant to visit Bosherton Ponds last time we drove over (without the caravan ) but the weather turned a bit wild and we stayed in the warmth instead.😳
We're currently looking at two sites-White Hart Cottage CL and Aberbran Club Site. We will need to plan another one to split the journey coming back.

We're back!
After selling the motorhome a few months back and deciding to give camping a break for a while I couldn't cope. We've put a deposit down today on a small Bailey caravan and hope to collect in a couple of weeks time...Yeh!!!
Once you have camping in the blood it's drug that's hard to get rid of. I'm been camping all my life and every time I looked at the empty drive I just felt something was wrong. I don't know how much time we'll have to get away, that was one of the reasons for selling the motorhome - lack of use - but at least with a caravan it doesn't cost as much to keep and I'll have it when we do get the time. I can't wait for my first trip away, whenever that will be. Luckily I didn't give up my CMC membership :>)

Wet and windy here too today. Decided to give the spare bedroom a bit of a clear out, can't say it was fun, but it now looks less cluttered
ADD46 we used Aberbran as a stop over to and from West Wales, this July, lovely little site and Brecon is worth a wonder round if you get time.

Helen I also decided to have a clear out this afternoon. I was supposed to be just cleaning the inside of the conservatory windows but as ever one thing led to another. It looks much cleaner and clearer now. It's satisfying isn't it😊

Helenandtrevor - We had a look online at the Aberbran site and thought it would be ok for a couple of nights to break the journey. Thank you for saying it's nice. It gives me confidence that it will be worth staying over. Does it have views or is it enclosed with trees?

ADD46, The site at Aberbran has quite a few trees around the perimeters so the view is a bit limited. You can see the tops of the hills which overlooks the site. It is very quiet and the trees gave some shade which was useful as it was very warm when we stayed. We liked the site and the volunteer wardens were very friendly .

They were still doing it last year OP, when we were down that way, although we visited in the daytime and missed the light show.
Hope that your daughter 's house gets sorted out quickly Kjnell, and that you are able to get away in your caravan soon.
Sorry to hear that peoples day's out have been affected by the weather. We've had light but persistent rain during the morning and a couple of heavier showers this afternoon. Managed a couple of short walks under the trees before lunch and a longer one this afternoon in the dry. Clear sky now and Venus is bright in the West.

We too like the Aberbran site. Lovely and quiet, and the wardens usually have a great display of flowers. Where are you thinking of for a stop off on your way back, ADD46?

We've had rain almost all day here at Littlehampton. Fortunately we packed most things away on Saturday (within the knowledge of today's forcast). We're off tomorrow for the final week of our holiday, and a change of plan. We're off back to Cornwall so that we can pick up our daughter and bring her home for a bit of a break. We didn't take much persuading as we quite like Cornwall.

Add46 we use Hollymount CL just outside Ross on Wye. If staying overnight they have a transit area but staying longer and they have a lovely grass CL. The CL is not far off the A40 so is not only convenient for visiting Ross but only 5 miles from the M50.

We arrived home yesterday after a wonderful 17 nigjht holiday in the caravan. We stayed at the clubs Southland site on the Isle of Wight. We had been to the IOW before but forgot how good it was the villages on the island are lovely as are the views also there are some great little pubs dotted around the island too. This was the first time we visited Southlands and we weren't disappointed it was a lovely site one of the best we have ever visited. We left the IOW on Saturday morning and stopped off at Blackpool club site on the way home just to break up the journey. Packing up yesterday we got soaked the first time we had saw rain foe weeks and it poured just as we were packing up typical. The drive home yesterday from Blackpool was easy as the roads were quiet. Sad to be home but think we ate going to go away at the weekend but just somewhere local.

Good morning, Hoping for the sun and heat to come back after 3 days of rain. Saturday we had heavy thunder rain and the temperature dropped to 13 degrees, had to wear a cardigan and look for a mac.
Aberbran is a lovely site, we are booked for a few days in a fortnight. We love the Brecon area, but the CMC site there is to expensive for us. It's a good location to visit Mid Wales.
