Congratulations, Goldie.
Sorry to hear of the problems with cars' purchases, B2 & TG.
Well done to your son, brue, great excuse for a celebration.
Grand pictures Steve, it's been a while since we visited either of those properties.

Congratulations to your son brue. Such a great achievement. Do you know where they will be moving to yet? How long will they be with you?
Lovely photos Steve. We visited both those properties when staying at Harbury Fields a few years ago. I loved both of them.
Daughter rang today to ask if I wanted to see the new Mamma Mia film with her and grand-daughter this evening. I loved it. A really excellent feel good film. Just as good as the first one. Daughter's friend and her daughter also came so a great 'girls' night out. Next outing for us all is a spa day next week as part of our daughter's 50th birthday celebrations.😁

I agree TW. Nice site, but quite a bit of road noise. To be honest, it doesn't bother me that much, but I can imagine some would find it irritating.
Glad to tooth thing went well Millie and congrats to your son Bakers2 on the degree. Nice pictures Steve and sorry for those with various ar issues- cars are always a pain whichever way you look at it.
Glad to hear the good reports of Mama Mia. Really enjoyed the first film, and were the stage musical a few years back in Manchester too.
Best wishes to all.
David

Well done to your son brue, not easy to be a mature student. Film was certainly cheerful.
Bakers, yes mixed feelings about parting with the MH, went in it today to check everything through. Struck me how nice it is now empty of all our gubbings
looks just like the first time we saw it
someone will get a very nice MH.
Lovely photos SteveL, think its time we spent a holiday in this country.
Thanks NTH, I'm sure it will be ok now that OH has put them right
Might be asking for some help choosing CL's if we do stay in the UK come Sept/Oct.

Thanks for the comments on the photos. One of the things I like about belonging to the NT is that you can just pop in and see the gardens. It would be far too expensive otherwise. At home we regularly visit the walled garden at Clumber, to watch it evolve through the the year.

We visit Stowe Gardens throughout the seasons too, I must admit though I like the frosty winters walk, almost as much as the spring/summer walks.

Another early walk as temps set to rise to 32C today. Going to try and attempt some ironing
Really must make the effort to go and to the Mamma Mia film we only have a horrible small cinema , no nice multi plex here
Tammygirl it's always mixed emotions when you see a van or MH go, I wasn't too bothered when we swopped vans last year, but when we got rid of our old Firestorm after 9 years it was a bit of a wrench
It was the memories of all the happy family holidays in it

That's what I like about our local NT places, I can go for a stroll around them at most times of the year. We are very near to Barrington, Montacute, Lytes Cary and Tintinhull. All are different, I think I'll take the grandson to Barrington today before it gets too hot, he can have a good run around the outer edges, there's a good tree swing for him and I can enjoy the flower borders, veg and a coffee. Some places where we've lived it's been a long drive to see anything so I've enjoyed the choice here. Must be nice to have the whole of Clumber Park close at hand Steve.
Thanks for all your kind comments about our "mature" student's degree! he's asleep in our motorhome just now, the only space left thanks to their house move! Still not sure where they are they might end up, a holiday next week and then some decisions, I hope.

Must be nice to have the whole of Clumber Park close at hand Steve.
It is brue. Our regular walk, particularly in the winter months, is round the lake and then either soup, or tea and cake in the cafe, depending on time of day.
We don't have any bikes currently, but when the kids were young we often used to cycle there from home. Apart from a bit on the estate and crossing a few roads, it can all be done on tracks. In more recent years, since Sustrans, they are even very good quality, rather than the often overgrown routes of before.

What a mistake to make at this time of the morning, put hot chilli pepper
into the porridge instead of cinnamon. Fortunately instead of wasting good food I mixed in some yogurt to cool it down.
Good day pottering yesterday, took a garden bench apart, caste iron and wood so I can replace the wood. Had the seat about 10 years and only cost a fiver at a jumble sale. Spent over an hour dead heading roses as well.
Another dry, hot day here lovely

We used to stay at Clumber Park some years ago with our MH and bikes and loved cycling round the estate. Did you see the One Show the other night where they said that the dry weather has shown up the outlines of the big house that used to be there? I am not keen on the church on the estate though. It is rather too dark for me. Sadly other than Peckover, which we love, we have a drive of over an hour to get to any NT places.
We have 2 grandsons today and think we might take them to the Garden of Surprises at Burghley House. It is essentially a water park. They have their swimming gear with them. Luckily we are HHA members so will only have to pay for the boys.

We let our NT membership lapse because their are none close to home. When we get to go exploring again we'll renew them. The membership fee is covered very quickly if there's places where you are.
Milliehull Burghley House is on our to do list, we were going to pitch nearby on our last trip but I discovered an appointment on my phone calendar that hadn't been transferred to the house calendar 😲. Love the idea if the garden - is it similar to the one at Hever Castle? Certainly a great day for it. If we got an early start it is doable in a day from home but I'd prefer not to rush.
Just had a call from mum she's not feeling so good. I suspect it's the heat and she's a bit dehydrated, 'if I drink I need the loo' 😤😤. She was at the doctors yesterday getting her warfrin checked, didn't feel well then. "Did you tell the nurse?" No! I spoke to her last evening no mention of it then 😲. So will pop over later.
Enjoy your day folks

Didn't see that Milliehull. I have been watching the TDeF highlights on ITV 4 at 7pm. We will have to go and investigate if it stays dry till we get home. The thunderstorms we were supposed to be getting tomorrow, seem to have disappeared from my weather App.🤔

Remember, nobody likes a snitch.
It looks like everyone will be getting some liquid sunshine in the next few days. Fill those water butts up folks.
Up early and decided to have a quick walk before breakfast. Not too much going on outside today as I need to investigate broadband deals and television deals etc. Boring.
Will tell Mrs WN and MIL about Mama Mia film as MIL enjoyed first one. Mrs WN goes along as chaperon.
Edit - sorry forgot to congratulate Brue ( and SteveL as well I think) about offsprings degrees.

Well that's it MH gone
good drive up to Aberdeen lovely sunshine but the roads round Aberdeen very busy with traffic, will be good when the new ring road is finished.
On the way back we went and delivered the centre chest/fliptop table to its new owner. The dealer wasn't bothered about it being left in the MH so we sold it for £100.
Just got the windblockers, centre rafter for the fiamma and a portable 80w folding solar panel to sell. We've done quite well so far so plenty of pennies to buy new stuff for the caravan
AD, good news on the service and damp, I know what that feels like.
SteveL, my home town is Worksop so Clumber was the place my parents used to take us to run. Its been a few years since OH and I was there.
Seems we are to get rain on Sunday, much hotter today than they forecast but not in the 30s lovely evening sun will be setting soon looks like we will get a nice sunset red sky.
Oh those that are thinking of going to the new Mama Mia look out for the cameo roles from Bjorn and Benny

We had some rain last night
a few heavy showers but they lasted less than a minute, so no help to the garden
Out early with the dog for his walk it's the only one he seems to enjoy as it's cooler. Did a litter pick in the park, dozen or so glass beer bottles and McDonald's cartons. Think it must have been teenagers as half the bottles were still half full!
Probably couldn't drink a whole one
Not at work until later so hopefully will get a few household jobs done
Enjoy your day, supposed to be last hot one, make the most of it!

I know what you mean about getting tradesmen to do a job, they say they will come and quote, but then don't turn up, then if they come they never get back with the quote
We do have a regular plumber luckily, but OH has ended up doing lots of jobs himself, it's amazing what you can learn to do via "youtube"

Nothing much planned for today, but this evening we are going to wander down the to the beach, maybe have a couple of scoops, then just before dark go up the cliffs for the main event, blood moon and hopefully the eclipse. Hopefully the cloud and rain will stay away
1 -
Same up here I'm afraid, tradesmen moan not enough work around and folk out of work. When those in work don't bother to get back to you
my OH is quite handy to have around and can turn his hand to most things but nowadays he likes to leave the heavy work to the younger fitter generation if he can get them.
We do a fair bit of ordering on line but its not always without issue, take the new tow ball, OH ordered an extended neck one for an Alko hitch, what did he get sent, an ordinary one
now he has to spend time sorting it out. Same thing happened with the bike rack, wrong one sent
its a 15 mile round trip every time we have to go in and out of town so a bit of a pita when it happens.
Looks to be our last nice day of sunshine, as the forecast from tonight onwards is for very heavy rain with localised flooding, we will be ok in our village as we sit quite high above the river but for some it will be a worry. The ground is so hard it won't be able to soak it up fast enough, the river itself won't be the problem as I've never seen it so low.
Right off to start work in the garden again more plants to go in, the house will have to wait for the rainy weather

Have a good weekend one and all.

OP, Hope people get a chance the moon, we have a good view to the S east so if it stays fine we'll see it. Over twenty years ago, in another home, I stayed up late for a good eclipse so this one will be easier but not quite as good as seeing it overhead previously.
Waiting to go to charity shops with son to offload various household items from their recent move (for various, read box loads.)

A shower overnight with some flashes if lightening and distant thunder. I deliberately left the sunshade and chair cushions out, will do again tonight. 😉 looked into the water butts could see little or no change inded i turned on the tap nothing can out 😲😢.
Got to push the vac through, heat or no heat, 24c in the deep shade at present so best get a wriggle on 😉, as my friend from Northumberland is down and should be popping in this afternoon.
Mum sounded better yesterday as the day went on and insisted we didn't need to go over. She has fridge freezer being delivered by local store today, checked with them as OH has appointment and needs the car at delivery window time. Wonderful response 'she won't be expected to do anything, our lad will do it all out for her'. I'm hoping this will be the case. Spoke to her this morning she's still wobbly and not slept more than an hour but has had plenty of paracetamol 😲😲😲. She has a friend visit this afternoon, will stay in phone contact!
I know what you mean by getting hold of 'trades folk' our plumber, lives opposite, retired a couple of years ago. Still good for getting parts we needed a programmer for our central heating last year - he found us the exact same one last one in town ( been superceded now 😲) and OH fitted with his guidance. There is a builder down the road who is constantly working in our road, loft or ordinary extensions, a few months back he was working in a neighbouring road and he said he's only worked out of our road twice in four years! He has a waiting list! If you find one, cherish them.
Enjoy your day folks.
Ps David delighted your van has no damp but I suspect our dry weather has some bearing 😉. Were your readings 0?

No rain at all here
I hope your mum gets better soon Bakers2. Hopefully the forecast cooler weather will help. This hot weather is no friend to the elderly.

Whilst sitting out last night we felt just one or to 'big spots' and thought we were in for a downpour but it stopped after about five seconds. It's already hot here so me thinks shade will be required today.
Got to empty the van ready for a trip to workshop.

Looking forward to seeing the moon tonight, all week we've had good view at the front of the house.
Hope your Mum feels better soon Bakers.
Must get on jobs not getting done
