Congratulation and happy anniversary Mr and Mrs Goldie. Enjoy your day off and night away.

Glorious here again 😉. Pottering with the essential jobs and currently sitting in our north facing lounge.  It's on days like this that is its great benefit 😉.

Rather disturbing answerphone message about paying for our car! We were going to take up their finance and pay off after 3 moths to get extra benefits. Couldn't get full T&C at the time but we're given some general ones that I scan read. However when we got home last week and did back of the envelope sums we reckoned it would cost more than we gained 😲😲 with the interest rate of 11.9%. Far outweighing any interest we could earn in the meantime. No information on the alleged no penalty for paying up early etc. So told our sales guy it would be cash.

We were offered collection in July and opted for 1 August, only to learn yesterday their administration dept wanted to know when we were paying! I had already transferred £1 into their account and ensured it had been received - ready for the balance transfer, which must be cleared in their account at time of collection. Advice on agreement weekend or Monday pickups to be checked in by 5pm Friday. So we pay on monday to be sure of Wednesday. Our sales guy tells OH don't know where the car currently is and that they'll aim for collection by us on 1 Aug.  That didn't go down well 😉. Phone call today saying our car will be with them this afternoon to go through their workshop and have the extras we've asked for done. Have a collection time now for 1 Aug. Amazing or what. Only a young lad, OH had a nice chat with him about keeping the customer confident in the dealings. We are both still wondering why all this wasn't put in place immediately we left the showroom??

OH has arranged insurance change over for 1 August, administration fee £55 renewal is middle of September! and prepared a change of ownership so we don't pay RFL on 2 vehicles for any month. . Rather tarnished the experience 😢

Milliehull hope dentist visit goes well and is painless in the pocket and the mouth.

Good to know everyone being sensible in the heat. Just read article on application of sunscreen. It appears many don't apply enough quantity wise!

    Enjoy your day folks

David would love to join you but can't get away at mo. Is it a nice site? It's somewhere I fancy but I seem to recall unfavourable reviews, generally external influences?

We were there in May, Bakers, on a nice level grass pitch, probably just behind David’s pitch. The only issue we had was the amount of traffic outside the site but even that was not noisy. It was lovely there and we’d go again.

Change of our plans for today as got a voice message from garage to say problem with the tow bar electrics they are try to fit. So everything had to be dropped to go into town and see what the issue is. Salesman who we did the deal with met us and went to fetch someone from garage to explain. Sit and wait 10 mins, nothing, fetch salesman back again to chase up, he vanishes into garage, still nothing, suspecting garage has a black hole laughing approach someone one desk to say what is the delay and this is not the way to do business when someone buying (and has paid) for new car. Finally get invite into garage to explain the problem. Not a big issue but the bracket for electric point  provided with the tow bar isn't compatible with the Ford wiring loom. OH went to local towbar fitting place (should have had them fit it) and bought the new bracket. So OH by now to late to do his lunch club, visit to B&Q's went ahead but didn't get what we were after. Now back home and trying to get on with some jobs. Decided to go to cinema tonight to see the new Mama Mia film.

    Bakers, I feel your frustration.

    Goldie, Happy Anniversary

Back home after a most enjoyable few hours walking and looking across the River Dee estuary to a sunny North Wales, looking it's best (it's best is usually from a distance like quite a few of us). Boats bobbing about on the river, kiddies having ice cream on West Kirby front (joined by this adult), everyone in a good mood.

Dropped in at Burton Mere RSPB centre but too hot for serious bird watching, even of the lazy variety, so back home for a quick bite to eat and then I decided to mow the back lawn before taking a well earned shower.

It's funny but we never have fizzy water but on holiday in Germany we mistakenly bought the wrong ones and ended up with 6 small bottles of fizzy instead of plain. So rather than waste them we put one in the fridge and now find them more refreshing than an Orangina or other fizzy drink. So a fizzy water is sitting with me as I write.

Bakers, when we bought our last car, 18 months ago, Hyundai allowed us to cancel agreement after just 3 payments without penalty. Strange that you can't do same.

Happy anniversary Goldie. What a handsome couple.

Millie, I'll be interested to see how you get on because I'm needing the same soon.

Same here, interested in tooth replacement Milliehull. I'm getting rather fed-up with my removed tooth gap too.  Just in the wrong place for eating but undecided about doing anything about it.  Just a coward really!!

WN. I got on absolutely fine at the dentist. I am really pleased with the look of it. It is a tooth that is glued to the teeth either side of it so hopefully permanently in place.  It feels a bit  strange having a tooth where there has been a gap for 6 months though. The only thing that hurt was the bill!! Luckily I am in Denplan so only had to pay the dentist technician part of the bill so not too bad really. I am surprised you still have some lawn left to mow!

Tammygirl let me know what you think of the Mamma Mia film. I saw the first one with our grand-daughter and absolutely loved it and am a but worried that the new one won't be as good.

I'm pleased with a recent new crown after a long wait with a gap, it felt strange at first and it was quite a tussle to fit it. Didn't think I'd get used to it but all ok now and it's stopped the whistling sound when I talk...wink

I'll  be interested to hear about Mamma Mia, I expect it's as silly as the first one but I enjoyed it.

Happy Anniversary to Goldie and your OH, have a lovely evening out. smile

Absolutely shattered but son and DIL's house sale has gone through today, the hamster has arrived for her holidays, we have stuff everywhere, the builders are having a day off tomorrow and we're all going out for an early pub meal. laughing

Wherenext that's interesting. Did you post about it on here? I seem to remember reading someone, if not you, did on here saying they used car finance and paid off without penalty. I asked to see specimen copy of agreement,  almost a state secret 😉 but was given some pages and when I said, at the showroom, the section referring to early payoff wasn't there I was fobbed off. Couldn't really concentrate in there, very young inexperienced sales lad - not a problem everyone has to learn, but not strong on some points 😉. Gain was very little couple of free services and small amount towards deposit, I did the maths very roughly and decided less hassle to pay in full and little gained in interest. No remembering to contact and cancel etc. Cant believe nothing added for finance company lodt interest or drawing up closing balance etc. Deed is now done. Inexperience showed at this point as no effort to change our minds, which I was glad about but no asking/telling about when payment due. Sounds like a lovely walk far too hot here to do that here! You sound like you're enjoying your 'freedom' 😉 I always drink cold water far more refreshing but don't like fizzy., might be better in this heat.

Tammygirl if you want a job done properly....... I hope it's sorted soon and properly. Good job your OH knows what needs to happen. We'd be well out of our depth there 😲

Milliehull I'm sure you'll get used to your new tooth soon. I had a ? Ceric? Infill on a tooth made by 3D printer in the surgery about 8 months ago and it took a few months to settle in smoothwise. I'm in Denplan and that fix was more costly than a crown but only one visit for removing broken part and inserting the made to measure part to what remained of my tooth. It was the more costly option but I'm pleased with it and I didn't have much time to play around with before NZ trip.

Francis I hoped you enjoyed that beer 😉

Tinwheeler thanks for the info, will add it to the list.

Just seen someone walking their dog to the park on our boiling hot pavements. She was wearing shoes! As well.as 2 mum's pushing their youngsters, 9 months ish, no sunshades on pushchair, legs and arms or head covered 😲😲 currently 29.3c in the shade here. Not moved far ourselves ☺

Brue now the fun begins 😂😂😂. Meal out tonight and lie in tomorrow. Such a lucky girl 😉

Hi Goldie 146.Yes my AGA is 'electric '  !!!   Charges up overnight on cheaper electricity .The mechanic came this morning ,and was VERY puzzled !! As only last week a new control unit was fitted .But it turned out to be (so far ) ,the high ambient temperatures we are having ,causing it to overheat  !! So he adjusted the thermostat to see if that cures it .Switched back on now ,so have to wait till the morning to see .Meanwhile ,,,eating out AGAIN  !! tongue-out.

Thanks for info MH. We're in Denplan as well so will ask dentist in October. Our back lawn has some shade to it and it just needed a trim. Front lawn looks bad. Won't mow that for a while.

Bakers, I seem to recall posting about it. Salesman quite upfront about it and the purchase worked out cheaper that way. Let me read agreement before signing.

Had a great time so far Helen. We are now entering in to our last few days which is a bit annoying but we have a few weekends and long weekends planned for when we go home so not too bad. I doubt the IOW has changed much it certainly hasn't changed since we were last here 6 years ago. Weather has been excellent since we got here probably the best 2 weeks weather wise we have ever had during our main summer break.

I agree with your wife trellis, I saw the new 'Mama Mia' last Saturday with my sister and my niece, we all thought if was fabulous and much better then the first one.  Pierce Brosnan didn't 'sing' much in it, the song he sang was more 'speaking to music' which was a huge improvement on his singing!   smile

Back from cinema (went to early viewing)

Mama Mia returned, really enjoyed it. Corny same as the original film laughing but the music/songs are great. If you enjoyed the first film then you will this one, the story line is good lots of laughs too and who wouldn't enjoy those lovely Greek islands.

Stopped off for a Chinese take away on the way home so am now stuffed.

Off to Aberdeen tomorrow saying a farewell to the MH frown

Visited Baddesley Clinton and Packwood National Trust houses today. Well the gardens in any event. We visited the houses in the cold weather of March, when the gardens were frozen and there was little to see. Well worth the return visits. The first two pictures are Baddesley, the second two Packwood. I think it is taking a lot of watering to keep them in this condition.

Tammygirl and others good to hear of a feel good film, may spend a hot day in a cinema 😃.  How do you feel about saying goodbye to your motorhome, slightly mixed?

Beautiful photos SteveL. Loved both of those gardens, I based a border loosely on one in Packwood House. Didn't survive long as our growing conditions aren't the same! I still have the late flowering grass.
