Glad you had a lovely holiday helenandtrevor safe travels home.
Malcolm I like reading your posts about nature visits etc. But I have to say you are very zealous about your views on aircon and other matters 😉. I liked your post 'mum's the word' made me smile, I don't think that comment is outside the guidelines 😉. With regard to your working again no problem if you want/need the money go for it while you can do it, sadly physically and mentally that may not be possible forever. Your choice, we others have made ours 😃. The government increased my years of working before paying my state pension my protest is not to pay HMG income tax, probably hurts me more than HMG 😂. My choice along with OH, we made our retirement provisions years ago and are reaping the benefit. I almost became a widow at 38 with 2 young children and have continued to remember how precious, and short in real terms, our time on earth is. I'll say no more.
Was wondering how to fill my day, not that there was a chance of idling it away 😂😂. Just which thing should I choose to fill my day when mum rang. Fridge freezer on the blink can we secure replacement? One of my choices was a visit and defrost her freezer 😉. Sounds simple except it lives in the pantry so very limited size restrictions, took an age to find the last and it doesn't auto defrost 😲😲. It was getting only one that fitted - tough! So you can all smile and thank whoever that I got today's short straw 😂😂. Also she has something causing dirt/droppings in the porch. Luckily pest control have been and wasps aren't in and out under the roof tiles now. Yes Malcolm the joys of house occupation, she's been there 62 years and hopefully we can keep here there until she no longer needs an earthly residence.
Enjoy your day folks however you spend it

We had some rain here overnight too the first there has been since we arrived its cleared up now thought and is very warm again. Not too sure what we are doing today although SWMBO says there is a car boot salle on just down the road so no doubt we will end up going to that.

We have had some heavy thunderstorms in the last 3 days temp now at 26c instead of 35cm OH installed guttering along the back of his shed which is quite a big shed and have got a square water butt which is called a cuve here in the Lot and it takes 1000 litres just about 96% full hooray and our other water butts nearly full, sorry to far for folks to collect some.
Enjoy your weekend folks and congratulations to TG on new car and caravan purchase hope you will enjoy your trips away.
Love the picture of your dog Helen he certainly did not look happy.
Glad you are enjoying IOW Francis some friends we know there say they have not had any rain since early May so they will be glad of last night's rain.
Off to friends today and to help on Sunday to finish the concrete base for a shed two thirds done last week and we run out of time as they run a B&B so had to wait for time without guests.

Overcast skies at the moment but no rain, we had a really good steady rain overnight on Thursday/Friday so ground has sucked it all up and garden looking fresher. The grass where we removed the moss and thatch then reseeded is starting to have some new growth but still looking very patchy, hopefully the rain and now warm weather (not hot blazing sun) will do the trick.
Busy day yesterday starting to empty the MH, sorting out what can be sold and then advertising them. Within a few hours we have sold 3 items
just using the group we are on in you know which social site
will advertised other items in a day or two elsewhere.
Making a list of things we will need to buy and I have some sewing to do making protective covers for the new caravan.
Went to seal the deal on the Kuga yesterday afternoon and look at the tow bar they had got and were just about to start fitting, STOP says OH, wrong tow bar
they had ordered (someone had) a swan neck one, OH wants a flange type so he can put a bike rack on it like we had before.
New one now on order OH did it himself to make sure its the right one. In the past he has always fitted his own tow bar but with all the new complicated electrics these days he said let them fit it, if its not right they can have the headache of putting it right
Malcolm, I'm glad that you like your AC but its not for us. We prefer to use a fan at night time. During the day we are either out and about or we sit outside in the shade if its too hot, rarely the case as we don't go away in the high season. Might be a bit controversial but we can always move if it should become unbearable
being on the coast is usually so much fresher than being inland, I'm surprised that you think otherwise.
Right that's it for awhile must get some washing hung out and start on the ransacked bedroom

Humph! Yesterday's late shower gave me half and inch of the wet stuff in a bucket! Useless, next to nothing in our three water butts.
Gardening for me this weekend. Plus having a chin wag with a cousin I haven't seen for a long time. I want to get the low down on Australia, she lived there for a while, recently returned after a visit to see friebds.

Yes, SteveL. The managers do sometimes help out with the deliveries if there are not enough drivers. They often have at least one manager on drive at peak periods.

Littlehampton is open until just after the New Year and then it's just Brighton. We've got our two nights away every 21 nights booked between these two sites right up until July 2019. So no worries!

I just visit the discussions site now and again these days to see what all are up to. I see Cyberyaught and Tammygirl have changed outfits. As a few of you may remember we 'hung up our wheels' and bought a static caravan at Stratford upon Avon. Still loving it. We have a great social life there, with lovely neighbours. We have the town and all its facilities and entertainment on our doorstep, so different from Devon. Not better, just different. And it really is home from home. I can't get there enough. Our grown up children and their families make good use of it as well. I do think things change and whatever outfit suits you best at the time is the right move. As some people stay for many months on our site in the summer they do have air con but this is so different from a tourer, where it is not always necessary. My point - each to his/her own, no right or wrong, just what suits at the time.

-Still no rain at Brockenhurst (Black Knowl) another hot day although a bit more cloud have had a ghood day at Netley steam and craft show, lots to see but too hot to be inthe sun for long and to hot to be in craft tents
A bit of info if anyone considering an EV it is £3.50 per charge on here so expect it the same on other sites with dedicated EV charging points, still ok to charge a Hibrid via LVs outside socket only ,not direct to EHU

I am so glad that it all worked out so well for you DEBSC. As you say we all go for whatever suits us, our lifestyles and circumstances best.

Another warm to hot day here, odd breaks in the clouds.
Got lucky on the fridge freezer quest, popped into a very local domestic appliances shop been there years and we've never used. Apart from the untidyness of the place inside, fantastic, I had thought they were repairers rather than suppliers. The lady took the measurements from me went to her computer up came one that was very slightly less wide, great as far as we're concerned 😉. Ordered it with our agreement will be at the shop on thursday, delivered to mum on Friday, put in place, levelled and door opening changed if necessary and old one taken away. RESULT. 20 minutes max. So much better service from self owned business. We will use again and I will recommend.
Onto mum's to tell her good news, deliver her shopping from town - birthday cards, garlic capsules M& S cake etc together with the the large loppers to restrain next doors wigeila which comes over quickly 😲 and sort out where some bug is chomping some woodwork. Result thinks I 😃. But no after lunch I got to sort out the 'glory hole' 😲😲😲. Cupboard under the stairs but it goes the length of the stairs not the width. I tried very hard to get out of it but mum wanted her mum's old iron got some bee in her bonnet. The sort you put on a solid plate to heat. Long story short I eventually get to the back - no ******* iron. Oh put it back she says no say I we'll sort 😉. Well she retained more than I'd have liked but I've brought home 4 black sacks full of 'heirlooms'. Vac'd out the cupboard and the kitchen floor after cleared up before a pleasant hour or 2 in the shade in the garden. Lots of butterflies by today's standards but nothing outstanding. Very slight ocassionally breeze across the fields into the garden.
Treated ourselves to fish and chips on the way home 😉. Sat out on the patio to eat them at the table but had to come in because of the flying ants! Managed to upset my glass of fresh orange over in my haste to retreat which I need to wash away the residule.
Feels oppressive here but not building my hopes up for rain.
Just went on my fb page, competition for the club comes up. I've entered. Searched on the website unable to find it!
Edit link HERE for anyone else who wants to enter.

People keep comparing this summer to 1976. So here is our garden in 1976. Different house and different garden to our present one but the 'lawn' looks much the same - brown and crisp!
2 -
Milliehull is was a tad bizarre 😉 but slightly sorted the 'glory hole'. Did suggest to her it was a once in a lifetime job but it could wait until it wasnt in her lifetime 😉😉. She really laughed but not get out of jail card.
What a lovely little family milliehull. All grown up now. I think there are lots of simularities to 1976 but I loved that summer and I'm loving this one. Long may it continue, a splash or 2 of rain would be nice but I fear if it starts it won't know when to stop, as it did last year as the children broke up and continued until they went back in the autumn.

Millie, what a nice little photo. I can't get to anything in our home at the moment, due to it being a furniture and junk store for son and family. I was thinking about the photos we had of 1976 as I remember we lived in Kenilworth and we used to try and get some cooler evening air in Abbey Fields which has some hilly parts.
Debsc, I'm from Warwickshire and always like to make return visits to places like Stratford, especially the river side so I can imagine how much you are enjoying it. We miss living near a large river, we just have a tiddly one!
Well done B2, your heroic clear out will be one less thing to think about and you know what's left under the stairs!
Hope Oneputt is recovering from the whirlwinds in the garden.
I checked the FB comp B2 but then I found it in the Membership section at the top, good luck.

That's not a bad cost for the EV charge, considering what it costs to fill a conventional car.
Interesting to hear there is a charge point.
Hope you're enjoying Black Knowl, I think I'd enjoy a shady walk in the New Forest, the forecast tomorrow is even warmer.

Brue, I heard a joke the other day about us 'senior citzens' refusing to clear out our garages because we knew our children would then use them for storage! I thought of you

Well done B2, your heroic clear out will be one less thing to think about and you know what's left under the stairs!
you may think that but I couldn't possibly comment. I have no doubt that 'useful' things will be added, probably already have been 😲😲. Growing up during the war has made her thrifty and non-wasteful retaining things that may come in useful. I found 3 electric can openers, one in an unopened box 2 from deceased relatives, 1 a very fetching bright orange and white one. Remember those colours, probably very retro and I've chucked away a fortune 😂☺☺.
Oneputt I hope you've had a great family day.
Still very cloudy here looked like we were going to get some moisture but it was only teasing, the oppressive atmosphere has lifted very slightly.

The issue regarding whether or not everyone should have aircon may well be resolved one day by health and safety, especially if too many people are having to be rescued by ambulances for heat related illnesses. It may well be new caravans and houses, in the future, will be required to fit aircon as standard in the same way as carbon monoxide alarms and smoke alarms are fitted as standard.
The day will surely come when aircon systems have a smart system that automatically turns the aircon on as soon as the temperature exceeds 25 degrees celsius. It will be required that temperatures should be maintained between 18 and 25 degrees celsius as being the required comfortable temperature for human habitation.
When that day comes, there will no longer be any need to discuss this any further. Then you can rest easy, Oneputt!
