What are you all up to

DD has just rung to say she now has 2 viewers booked in for today, 14.30 and 15.30, getting good use of all our hard work yesterday.
One of the other 2 similar houses nearby has just been sold, so less competition remaining.
Off to do a few things in the caravan now.

I like hamsters. I had a rescued one at work in my office for a couple of years, he even had a "Risk Assessment" attached to his big tank! He used to trundle around in a plastic globe a couple of times a day. All the staff loved " Basil". I took him there because we had three dogs and a couple of cats at the time. I think it was more stressful at work looking back.......

I remember staying overnight with a friend many years ago on the sofa bed in her living room. She 'forgot' to tell me that the hamster (also in the living room) used to like to take his exercise in the early hours of the morning
Best of luck to your daughter with the house viewings Kj. A bit of competition between the two could be good.
That is a worrying drop in water Goldie. Lovely photo of your cows and the scenery though.

Car into dealers then walked to Asda for a cuppa. Whilst there notice TS Royalist (Sea Cadet training ship) turn in the river and proceed out to sea. Only had a phone with me and picture taken through plate glass window so quality not to good.

I remember it well, Kj. They even brought out the naughty step! So I had to disappear for while!

I've got to get ready for work now, so I'll be gone for a while. Have a nice evening and try and keep cool!

Certainly no problem keeping cool here. The temperature is only about 19C and we've just had a rain shower. I believe it is only temporary though and normal service will resume shortly.
Shopping this morning, mackerel done on the Cadac for dinner.😋
This afternoon we drove to Bempton Cliffs and walked to the northern most platforms, were there is a better chance of seeing puffins. Eventually spotted several, four close together in one place. Unfortunately although we could see them clearly with the binoculars, none were close enough to photograph successfully with my camera.☹️ We also spotted a Kestrel on a fence post near the cliff edge.
Bough some of their rapeseed oil from the shop, which is a very good one. Along with a Puffin hand puppet to amuse the granddaughter.

Sitting in the shade with a cuppa. Did the accounts this morning, good job I hadn't skimmed any off. Our 'just go and look at Quashquai' has resulted in a purchase 😲😲😲.
I ensured we ate out, before serious money gets moved about and I might not get another opportunity 😂😂😂.

Fetched 2 of the grandsons from school this afternoon as usual on a Thursday and it was the last time that we will fetch the eldest one as he leaves primary school tomorrow and starts secondary school in September. The end of an era.
It doesn't seem 5 minutes since I fetched him the first week he started.
Good luck with the Qashqai Bakers 2. How exciting. We love our Nissan. We have an XTrail.

We brought puffin glove puppets for the grandtwins from there last year. Plenty of Tree Sparrows usually hang around reception at Bempton.
B2 - enjoy your new car 🚗
The twins start school in September in reception. They will be able to stay together for the first year but after that daughter wants them in different classes.
The day brighten up and warmed up as it went on. It’s a very pleasant 24C here.

We had a break from farming for a while today when we went to a funeral. My husband’s uncle died a couple of weeks ago aged 101, after a short illness.
There was the usual service and interment at the village church where his wife was buried (for the immediate, but large, family), then a celebration of his life at the Methodist church in town. It had all been planned by him and was a very joyous occasion. He had given the young Pastor instructions on how well we had to sing, and to stop us if it wasn’t good enough. He had also said that there had to be “Fellowship and Refreshments”, so we enjoyed a wonderful spread and met family from near and far, and local farmers.
Then back to mundane reality with cows to milk and ground to prepare for sowing grass seeds.

Goldie what a good age and send off. I think it's lovely that we more often than not these days we celebrate a life rather than just have a funeral service. When someone has lived a long life hopefully in reasonable health until almost the end it doesn't take away the pain but puts a different prospective on things. Sad as it is it is the ONE certain thing that will happen to us all. May he Rest in Peace. He certainly sounds like a character. Sadly it's about the only time distant family gets together these days 😢.
Thanks for your good wishes on the car purchase - donations welcome 😉 I think we'll be happy. It's pre registered, cheapskates, 5 miles on the clock!
Oneputt gosh the grandtwins starting school in September, where does the time go? I think your daughter has the right idea about separating them later. Whilst they won't be quite so much compared as they are a pigeon pair it won't do harm. Twins are more common now so maybe the 'label' of the twins isn't given as often? Our granddaughter in NZ doesn't have to start school until she's 6, but generally they go the day after their 5th birthday as funding for early years education ceases then. Another country with joined up thinking 😉
Milliehull where have the years gone?

I think your daughter has the right idea to separate the twins when they are a bit older OP. I had a friend whose twin boys were at school with our youngest son. She always insisted they be kept together throughout their school years and by the time they were in their teens they were desperate to establish their own identities
That sounds like a good funeral Goldie. I love the idea of celebrating the life rather than mourning the death. I want ' Now Thank We All Our God' sang at my funeral. I also rather fancy David Bowie's Let's Dance played at the end

My father in law had that song WN, he had a great sense of humour but we still felt sad....
Talking about twins, I have twin sisters in law and one of them was always the dominant one at school. It took years for the quieter one to find her feet. The big change came about when the stronger one became ill in her fifties and the quiet one took charge and sorted her out, a huge turn around and they get on a lot better now, they are finally equal.

Thanks Millie, her house has a better position and outlook and is more modern and better insulated than the other one, but there having been 4 very similar houses for sale in the same area has made things very difficult.
Normally these houses get snapped up in a week or two, but another two were sold earlier in the year, and realised very good prices, so that is a total of 6 on the market recently, so buyers are now in short supply unfortunately.
The two viewers today were both very positive and do not have houses to sell, one is even a genuine cash buyer, both are looking to move quickly, so we are hoping she might even get 2 good offers.
Some good news on the new house. The surveyor has come back and confirmed the valuation is as before, and that the mine workings are not a worry, though might possibly put off a few purchasers in the future.
As this is their "forever home" , they want to go through with the purchase at the previously agreed price, but this will now depend on whether their lender is OK with the situation. The ball is now in the lender's court, decision should be made by Monday.
If the lender is still OK with everything, the purchase should be concluded by the end of next week. It seems the wheels move slowly!
Lovely day here today, sunny but not too hot. OH has been making good use of the solar power to do several loads of washing.

Thanks brue, we certainly never expected all this drama! Things usually go quite smoothly up here once you get an offer accepted.
We are also fans of pre-reg , saved £10k on our Touareg, only 14 miles on the clock. Enjoy the new car B2, my younger sister has one of those and has been very happy with it.

Been really busy since we got back from out week away.
In the last 2 days we have sold the MH bought a nice new caravan and new tow car
Been thinking about it for awhile now and decided to take the bull by the horns and do it, looking forward to going back to a caravan. We've enjoyed owning the MH for the last 6 years and will miss some bits of it but not other bits.
Busy still in the garden, the grass that I re-seeded 10 days ago is coming up and looking good
bought 6 bags of manure yesterday and keen to get it down. Rain is forecast for us overnight so that will be good for the garden. Bought lots of new plants many of them half price from a well known garden centre

And Haweswater is so low that visitors can now see remains of the village of Mardale.

That's quite sad nth, especially if anyone who lived there is still alive.
Our Nissan X Trail was pre registered and a really good deal. If we could get such a good deal again we would replace it with another X Trail but haven't found one yet. .
Welcome to the 'other side' Tammygirl.
. We changed from our MH to a caravan a few years ago probably for similar reasons as you. We miss some parts of having an MH but have never regretted the change. Enjoy! Very exciting. When is your first trip out with it?

Enjoy your new purchases TG and B2.
Towed down to The Old Orchard this morning, our 3rd visit to this grand CL. It was very warm when we arrived, possibly the warmest day we've had this year. There's now a gentle cooling breeze blowing through the van, so we could well have comfortable night.
Taking to the site owner it seems they've had no rain for weeks here although 5 mls away they had 20 mm the other day!!

I've had a Heligan evening! Got waylaid watching TdeF live, so late into garden after teatime. Set too and have now cleared a lot of overgrown stuff out of a nice little rose garden area, found some nice long lost plants still holding on. It's a difficult area, quite shady for most of the day, but one or two roses are thriving, and ferns, hellebores and a few other colourful things are doing ok! Some radical changes to be made this Winter, bit of tatty lawn is going, replaced by bark chippings, I have butchered a rampant Albertine, and a hop that could brew for England is getting the total goodbye!

We pick it up on the 21st August Millie from Aberdeen (same dealer as MH) its our intention to stay around Aberdeen for 2 nights to make sure everything is ok. Then hopefully a longer trip
Nice one Tammy. So was it the Euro lottery or just the ordinary one?
Naw, just been saving up me pennies in a jam jar
Thanks NTH

Hope things go well with the change TG. We still have our old van, need to get cracking on a bit of resto work. Like the van for lazy stays in one place!
Hope the weather stays nice for your wedding Nellie!
