What are you all up to

I think we are having similar weather over here. To hot to do anything but sit in the shade reading, listening to the birds singing, or swimming in the sea.
O the joys of being able to afford a relaxing lifestyle, with no cares or worry after years of working hard, and investing wisely, and more importantly taking time out to care for our health so we can continue this lifestyle.

I know what you mean, cariadon and there are many on here that would agree with you. They see work as a dirty word! This is where I beg to differ! It's not just the money. It gets me a more fulfilling life! I get to meet people that are happy to see me because they're hungry and I'm serving them their meal.
I get fresh air and exercise from the job. So health benefits too! That's better than sitting in front of the tv every evening and becoming a couch potato!

Malcolm, Work is not a dirty word, Work is something we have to do to earn money to live, while we are young we work hard, save and invest wisely so that we are rewarded later in life with a less stressful lifestyle.
Many are able to retire before the national pension age, and unfortunally many are unable to do this.
But more important than any amount of money is health.

The NHS is there to take care of your health, cariadon but once they have done that, you need money to pay for the life you are living! You can't buy the things you need or want without money. Even if you have got plenty of money, there is always a reason why you could do with a bit more!
Have you got a private jet, cariadon, so that you can fly off to exotic locations with all the creature comforts? If not, you could do with some more money, cariadon!

Furthermore, they need drivers to be available for work. How can they run a delivery service with drivers away on holiday? Although I may be entitled to holidays, I surely can forgo that entitlement, can't I? I don't think there's any law that says you must have a holiday, is there?
Latterly when I was working, it was purely about the money. It was looking forward to our holidays that made continuing worthwhile. Hopefully, if you don't take them, they will reimburse you financially, as they haven't had to fork out holiday pay.
However, I think a break is important. It does not need to be now at peak prices, or particularly far and using lots of fuel. Just a change of scene and not having to work. Perhaps even take the holiday and stay put, then the only additional costs will be days out.

Not in this weather - maybe sitting, but outside with music playing, a book in one hand and a drink in the other.
(please ignore the unkempt patio)

Lovely here again today 26 degrees at the moment so we are sitting outside the caravan watching the world go by. Not planning to do much today might just stay on site. Millie I hope Mr H gets a good result so you can go and enjoy your break best wishes.

Spine tingling moment 10 minutes ago! Lancaster Bomber has just rattled our roof tiles, banked over park and come back so I could take some photos! Apologies for photo quality, it was flying straight into sun!

I got enough time off on my rota in January and February when business was quiet. I was down to 10 hours a week then with 4 days off per week.

Our MH is on the small side, so we decided the box would be a good idea. It fits neatly and easily on the bike rack, and we use it mainly in Winter for waffle boards, wellies, chairs, fold up table etc...... we got ours off eBay, a real bargain and it's in perfect condition. We even had a long weekend break down to Swansea to pick it up! Stroller folds up, wheels off, still plenty of room in box. We get lots of storage space, and with careful choice of parking bay, we can still take advantage of most car parks, as it will hang over a verge! It is bikes or box though, so stroller will have to travel in bathroom if we take bikes! OH not quite up to that yet, but recovery is going well!

Extra pay in lieu of holiday sounds like a good idea to me!

Holiday planning? - Yes.
Holiday taking? - No - too much to do. So, odd meals out and thinking "maybe next year . . . ."
We did have a couple of wet days at Englethwaite Hall in May and Afternoon Tea at a posh hotel in June.
Today we're haymaking. No fiddly little bales, but a contractor has just come to make big square bales (all handled by machine).

Whilst I'm at work, I still get to drive through lovely countryside, in my own car, in beautiful sunsets. Some of the properties I deliver to are in beautiful locations with lovely gardens and views over the countryside and sea. It's as good as being on holiday except that I get paid for it!

Glorious clear blue here today, so different and so much warmer than yesterday 😃😃. Hired a boat from Potter Heigham lovely. Lunch outside the tearooms in the shade. Now in the shade on site recharging our batteries before going out for dinner at the Imperial Hotel, recommendation from Oneputt 😃.
MH I hope your OH blood results won't stop you visiting your NI family. Have they broken up for the summer now?
Take the dog along glad to hear your OH progressing well 😃.
Hope yesterday went well Husky, thought about you. BBQ sounds nice 😉.
Stay safe in the sun, home or away folks

Lovely photos Bakers2. Hope you remembered to drive on the right.
Wish we were still in Norfolk. Happy birthday to your son for tomorrow. Enjoy your meal this evening.
Yes NI grandchildren broke up yesterday. Their weather over there is even hotter than here. Most unusual for them to have weather that hot.

Nice photos Bakers.......I think most of us are out and about doing things in this lovely weather. Just checked long range and looks as though it's here for days yet! We are slowly packing in between football games!
I am not popular, tickets for theatre are for Tuesday, England's next match! Oops!
They will probably give out score in intermission. Or so I keep telling OH........

Hope it all works out ok TDA.
Looks like fun in and around Great Yarmouth B2.
Well that's us for the day, the "party's over" and we're left with the bill! (I think they all enjoyed it. )
It's 28C here just now, the water pistols and slime guns went down a treat today.....

I am glad your day went well brue. We always wonder why we get left with the bill?!! I suppose it is because we are 'softies' and enjoy treating them
. You can't beat water pistols and slime with boys (young and old
). I think it is forecast to be even hotter tomorrow.
Still doing a lot of cutting back in the garden. We have lost a few plants because of the heat and lack of water unfortunately. We are now conserving all water to use in the garden. Even when we wash our hands we save the water in a washing up bowl to put on the garden. It is a good few years since we have had to do that.

The water pistols were out here yesterday as well...........note to self, never ever pick a water fight with an ex firefighter!
Hope the blood test comes up favourable Millie, we have had 18 months of blood tests, scans, more blood tests, more scans.........

Thanks Tda. Fingers crossed. Glad to hear that your OH is improving. Enjoy your stay in York. I am sure the theatre will be much more fun than the football
