Next we went back to the car park, paid the ยฃ2.60 fee by debit card through the machine there, to continue our day out by driving to the NT Petworth House.

bWe got a nice welcome at reception and then proceeded through the garden to visit the restaurant and shop. We had lunch in the restaurant of Thai Green chicken soup with a bloomer. Lovely soup! Cost ยฃ9.50 using Tesco credit card earning one more point! Then we went on to the NT shop where I bought 8 Landscape notecards in four designs and 8 garden notecards also in four designs. Total cost ยฃ6 of which I paid ยฃ5 using a NT gift card that I had been sent by a company doing a promotional offer. The balance of ยฃ1.00, I paid using my HSBC debit card contactless payment. So total expenditure for the day was ยฃ26.09, all contactless payments!

Next, we walked into town using the NT exit door by the church. On all the previous visits to Petworth House, we never visited the town centre, so interesting to walk down the cobbled street past all the antique shops that reminded us of The Lanes in Brighton. It was getting too hot to stay for too long so we walked back through Petworth House gardens to the car park and drove back to our site wher we had our evening meal in the caravan.

So we made good use of my day off work. Back to work this evening!

Quite warm on my usual 3 mile walk around Salford Quays at lunch time yesterday. The smoke from the fire on Saddleworth Moor was visible and the smell from the fires was quite pungent at times.

It sounds like a really good CL, hope you both enjoy your stays there.

Whittaker, it must be awful for everyone around Saddleworth. The smoke sounds horrible.

We also visited 'I REPAIR' phone shop and bought a cover for my new phone so that the screen doesn't get scratched by my keys when inside my pocket! That cost me ยฃ12.99 which I paid by Tesco Club credit card which will earn me one more point!

You need a few more pockets M. The  Craghopper, trousers I bought recently have a smartphone / route card pocket.๐Ÿ˜€ Very useful. Plus multiple others I keep loosing things in. Fortunately I don't need to find my car keys to get in or start the car.๐Ÿ˜‚

Looks like being another hot one here today. The low cloud has burnt off a lot earlier than yesterday, when we only managed 25C. Seems strange to be saying "only" 25C. This side of the country we have also had a nice easterly breeze, which has made the conditions very pleasant.

The birds are clearly finding it a bit hot. The bird bath is getting a lot of use. Both as a bath and for drinking. The Wood Pigeons in particular, seem to love a nice splash about. We are having to keep refilling it as they splash so much out onto the ground. There is very little surface water around here, very few steams, just a few garden ponds. Plus of course, due to the hot weather, none of the normal puddles. This is probably why we are getting so many using the facilities.

Off to do some shopping shortly.

Beautiful start to the day, clear blue skies unlike yesterday which took a few hours to burn off. Today is supposed to be our hottest so far at around 30c, I can't remember ever having it that hot here. At the moment there is no breeze also unusual here as we always have one.

More gardening planned for today, OH is getting ready to take the trailer to the skip to empty yesterdays efforts.

Waiting for C&MC to phone me back to explain why the house insurance policy states 60 days out of house cover when it clearly advertises 90 days, (the person on the phone confirmed it is 90 days, confused or what) I would prefer to have it in writing that it is 90 days. Hope I don't have to wait toooooo long for the call undecided

Have a nice day everyone and don't for get to slap on some sun cream, hat and drink lots of water.

Lovely sunny day here and already done some admin stuff including booking a CL for a few days in North Norfolk in August.  Now going to spend a couple of hours pottering.  Will be picking up the van about 8.30pm surprised after Mrs Ones cub meeting, and heading to Pembrokeshire laughing

Smooth journey down to Cornwall this morning, surprisingly light traffic on M5 and A30, so arrived even before the garden centre cafe was open for breakfast! Now unpacked and sorted, dogs walked and we're looking forward to a nice hot week! Any football on tonight? wink

Have a great time in Pembrokeshire, One, lovely part of the country. Where are you staying?

Lovely warm day here again today very hot. We were planning on going away in the van this weekend to Ayr Craigie but they are full so looks like it will be a weekend in the house. Still I'm sure there will be plenty to do at home.

I've just woken up from my afternoon nap, comfortably cool inside our air-conditioned caravan. Now time to get the kettle on for a pot of tea. I slept most of the morning as well, got up for lunch and then went back to bed. So I'll be ready and awake in time for this evenings shift.

Cooler start to the day in essex after cool night so easy for sleeping, mind you i find my clear conscience means i never have any issues ๐Ÿ˜‚๐Ÿ˜‚, clouds had cleared by 9am. Really good run up to Great yarmouth club site, which looks like a desert - brown brown grass (no song there ๐Ÿ˜‰). Very cloudy with cool/chilly breeze, I think I'm underdressed ๐Ÿ˜ฒ๐Ÿ˜ฒ. More spaces than we expected meant we had a choice. There's racing on here tomorrow,  not listed in the handbook but we knew before we came as we had to arrive today or after it finished on Friday, we're looking forward to it ๐Ÿ˜ƒ. Not expecting company until 8 or 9pm probably later than that knowing those 2!

Delighted to hear everyone's keeping occupied but be sensible in the heat.

Safe trips to those travelling, lucky girl Jillwithajay! Oneputt I wish you clear skies, and I'm sorry for all of you taming you external areas ๐Ÿ˜‰.

Bizarre it wouldn't let me type in the box after the quote. So posted and edited, seems fine now.

Tammygirl I went with C&CC for household policy last year as it's 180 days. I spoke to the club and they won't add any more after the 90 days. Hope you get it sorted soon, you need it in writing - we all know how folks like to wriggle ๐Ÿ˜ฒ๐Ÿ˜ฒ. I seem to remember conditions about visits to the property every 7 days, minimum heating levels, loft hatch open and things too, but it is spoke to so many it may not have been this clubs policy. No conditions at all with this policy.

Was doing some work in a school today, been there before and they have big tv screens about the place, normally with inspiring and uplifting quotes, information, 'word' for today... that sort of thing.

    Anyway today it said

    Today's word is Schadenfreude

would everyone please ask Mr 'smith' to translate it for you

Mr 'Smith' is a German (teaches German) and was rather 'loud' with his predictions of them winning the tournament.

We have had a day of appointments today. Dentist for me and blood test and B12 injection for OH. More to come as OH has appt about his Carpel Tunnel at the hospital on Monday and I have an appt with our GP as apparently I need to see him before I can order my repeat prescriptions even though I had a check up with him in February. No wonder it is difficult to get a GP appt yell As a bit of light relief we are off to see the family in N. Ireland in a week.

I hope you are having a good time in Yarmouth Bakers2.  We stayed on that site many years ago with our daughter and eldest grand-daughter. Race day was really good fun.  I won on my first race but my luck ended therefrown

I hope you have a wonderful time in Pembrokeshire OP. We were there last year with our youngest son and family. We had a wonderful time in beautiful weather.  We went on the Skomer trip. It was OH's present for his 80th birthday from our son.

Finally got call back from the club.

Turns out the cover is for 90 but the policy is sent from Ageus not the club and it is a standard policy so hence the 60 days on it, however she informed me that it is 90 days for all C&MC members as advertised.

There is a bit at the bottom of the paperwork that states if the house is unoccupied for more than 90 days between 1st Nov and 31st March, if the water is left on the central heating must be set at a minimum of 15c and an adult must visit the property every week to check it. This is what was confusing.

The member of staff said they get calls about it all the time but confirmed it is for 90 days unoccupied, I suggested that maybe the club could send and email along with the policy docs to explain that, this would then stop all the calls asking about it, either that or amend the policy.

Have just enjoyed a short stay at Incleboro Fields.  Lovely weather and a great walk along the beach to Cromer.

Well done to the Wardens (the unsung heroes) who are keeping the site in pretty good condition, notwithstanding the lack of rain. thanks for your warm welcome.  Hope to see you again in next year or so.

Sadly have gone elsewhere for the next week or two, merely due to lack of club sites in the relevant areas.

Hope to be back with the club in two weeks time.

Meantime I will keep looking in on you all.

Tammygirl, glad you've got length of cover sorted.  Your suggestion to the member of staff is so sensible ๐Ÿ˜‰. Yes I thought it was club policy needing extras which included physical evidence of visits every 7 days!

C&CC policy actually has the additional club benefit nights in the notes at the end. Clearly to understand not need to waste staff time checking ๐Ÿ˜‚.

Welcome!
